An Aura Farmer's Guide to Another World-Chapter 24: Tusk Winger-3
Chapter 24 - Tusk Winger-3
The ruined temple on which we were battling strongly resembled ancient Greek architecture. It featured a massive rectangular platform, approximately one-fourth the size of a football field.
With its back turned to us, the creature hissed its tongue extending from the serpent's mouth.
'Buzz!!! Buzz!!!'
Suddenly, an enormous swarm of mosquitoes burst forth from numerous holes scattered across the creature's body. Each mosquito was approximately the size of an apple.
Before they could close in on us, Evelyn surged ahead and swung her chain, the sharp sickle end of the Kusarigama slicing through the swarm and dispatching several of them.
Rather than simply dying, the insects burst apart, releasing purple fluid. Upon contact with solid ground, the fluid causes the surface to dissolve, resembling lava coursing through marshmallow.
I stepped back cautiously, uncertain about joining Evelyn.
My gaze swept the surroundings, identifying multiple avenues for escape; however, I gritted my teeth and steadied my posture.
As the swarm of insects encroached upon Evelyn, sweat dripped down my neck, and my muscles tightened with tension.
With meticulous precision, Evelyn spun her sickle and launched it upward at a perfect ninety-degree angle. The weapon effortlessly cleaved through five insects, causing them to burst apart.
She proceeded to drag the sickle back into her hands using the chain attached to it. Immediately after that, she sidestepped, avoiding the purple fluid that burst out of the slain insect.
Evelyn rotated on the same axis, extending her sickle as she moved, causing it to spin across a wide area like a wheel.
The sickle swept through fifteen approaching insects in a single arc, causing them to burst and release purple fluid.
Just as everything seemed to be in her favor, the number of insects multiplied rapidly, leaving her entirely encircled by over a hundred mosquitoes.
The mosquitoes did not stop at Evelyn; the remainder swarmed toward me, their wings producing waves of irritating noise.
I considered fleeing from the insects, but their speed rendered any attempt at escape without injury impossible.
With no alternatives remaining, I grasped the hilt of my katana firmly and raised it over my head, prepared to deflect the approaching insects.
At that moment, I decided to use my ability to attract objects. Over the past few days, I have discovered a method to apply it beyond merely attempting to use it for weapon recall.
"Blood Art Technique: Positive Touch," I yelled.
The rate of my heartbeat accelerated from 1.6 to 10 beats per second. My veins contracted, and my blood seemed to flow in reverse, as though drawn by a powerful vacuum.
An uneasy sensation coursed down to the bottom of my legs, causing my toes to clench tightly. My Ocean Eyes glance at the ground one meter ahead, directly beneath the swarm of approaching mosquitoes.
The ground drew the base of my right foot, allowing me to step forward in less than a fraction of a second. My movement was swift, it felt as though my foot and the ground were opposite poles of a magnet.
With a precise vertical arc, my katana cut down three apple-sized mosquitoes. Before their poisonous rain could erupt, I firmly planted my left foot and sidestepped, putting ample distance between me and the detonating insects.
I executed a horizontal strike, taking out five more insects, and then turned my back on them, moving toward a pillar behind us before they could detonate.
As I ran, the ground seemed to pull at the base of my feet, propelling me forward at an extraordinary speed. I moved so quickly that I covered a remarkable five meters in just one second.
Pursued by a relentless swarm of no less than thirty insects, I activated my attraction ability, causing the pillar's surface to firmly draw and hold my foot.
I ran three meters along the pillar and aggressively pushed off its surface. The recoil catapulted me into the sky, causing me to soar above the swarm of insects.
Rotating my body mid-flight, I extended my index finger in their direction.
"Blood Art Technique: Negative touch."
A surge of gravitational force erupted from the tip of my index finger, obliterating seven insects.
Another wave of gravity followed from my middle finger, striking and eliminating five more.
My luck ran out as the remaining eighteen insects ascended toward my body. I directed a gravity wave at them using the tip of my fourth finger; however, they had already adapted to my attacks.
They swiftly avoided the wave and advanced towards me. In an instant, they detonated, enveloping me in the purple fluid.
Losing my bearings, I slammed to the ground. The impact was so severe that it felt as though my bones were cracking.
My skin started to sizzle as bubbles formed at the points where the purple fluid touched it. When the bubbles burst, they would peel away my skin, dissolving it in an excruciatingly slow and agonizing manner.
"Aaaaaaaaah!"
I screamed with all my might, my chest rising and falling as if I were on the brink of death.
"Gulp Gulp'
I emptied one of the Stardust potions tucked in my pocket. Instead of healing, my skin turned ash and brittle crumbling like dried parchment
'Gulp Gulp'
I emptied the second and last potion from my pocket. Only then did it begin to take effect.
It stopped my skin from corroding and healed my internal injuries. However, it left behind burn marks resembling a slime tattoo wrapped around me.
At a distance, I watched Evelyn slash through the insects with deadly calligraphy carved into the air by her kusarigama.
She lunged forward, flicking her wrist to unleash the sickle in a sweeping arc, slicing through a cluster of insects.
'Slash! Boom!'
Their bodies burst, showering the battlefield with acidic purple fluid.
Evelyn's skin sizzled and peeled away like a banana. Though she successfully eradicated all the attacking insects, she couldn't entirely avoid the fluids splattering from their corpses. Remarkably, her skin began to heal on its own, peeling off only to be replaced by new, healthy tissue.
