Elliot frowned...

"What did you say?"

"Do you need me to repeat it?" Mikael shrugged.

"Are you serious?" Elliot asked. "What happened to my father... Do you know about it?"

"Nothing is hidden from us on this continent, Elliot," Mikael replied, then frowned. "Wait, why am I trying to convince you to join us?" He realized.

That was stupid.

Him, a god, convincing a little kid to join them? It was embarrassing!

Elliot laughed. "Well, if I can have a god begging me to join them, I might as well enjoy it."

"Tsk." Mikael clicked his tongue and waved his hand. An orb of light appeared to his right, showing the city of Loen from above. "I'll tell you one thing. You have a few hours to live. Whether the curse kills you or your enemies kill you, you don't have much time left."

With his words, the orb of light changed its perspective. From the city of Loen to different regions within it. To rooms, to courtyards...

Elliot could see, in detail, a lot of people. "They are saints and heroes who are looking for you. Don't think they come with good intentions like me, they all want to kill you. You and that girl, as well as the blacksmith. I heard he is the son of the Holy Blacksmith."

"A single touch from these guys can kill them all," said Mikael, turning his attention to Elliot. "A single touch from me could kill them. Why do you need to think so much? If I wanted to take you prisoner, I would have done so already, and you would have no chance to refuse to become my slave. But I'm being a good person. I came with the intention of recruiting you. We will give you and your friends the best possible deal. You just need to come with me to live."

Finally, she added, "If you don't want to live, of course you can reject me. In that case... well, I'll go back on my way."

Elliot frowned. Hesitation...

"That hesitation will kill you." Suddenly, a voice came from the next room. It was a woman's voice.

"Teacher Anna..." Elliot was stunned when he turned around. What was she doing here?

"Why are you so hesitant?" Anna asked him and looked at Mikael. "Is it because you don't trust him?"

Elliot had many questions, but he didn't ask them. He remained silent.

"That's not why. You're a smart young man, and you know very well that if he wanted to hurt you, he would have done so already."

Elliot still didn't answer.

"The truth is, you don't want to betray us," Anna said. "The Runic Kingdom is no place for you, Elliot. We're not that strong."

"I don't know if this is due to strength. But I already had a contract signed with you, and you've helped me enough to create a debt," Elliot acknowledged.

Anna smiled. "You're a grateful guy, Elliot. But honestly, you don't owe us anything. And even if you did, if you go with Mr. Mikael, it wouldn't be betrayal. That organization is big enough to protect you, and we're just his subordinates. We don't even count as allies."

"Subordinates? Did you already know about its existence?"

"Our founder belonged to the organization." Anna shrugged. "That's why he was able to become so great."

"The founder?" Elliot looked up. "Andrew's father?"

"Indeed, also the Great Ancestor." Anna smiled.

Elliot nodded. "What kind of organization is it?" he asked.

Mikael replied. "I can't give you many details if you haven't joined us, but we're like any other guild, except we focus on summoners and tamers. However, since we have influence across the entire continent, our missions tend to cover a wide range of locations and situations. We're a guild focused on missions and training summoners."

"Nothing else?" Elliot asked. "Don't you participate in tournaments?"

Mikael sighed. "Participate in tournaments as summoners, Elliot?"

"That's the worst decision we could make. We don't participate in any regional or national tournaments, that's for sure. But we may participate in the World Championship, we've done it before. That's with the sole intention of participating in the Battle for Supremacy. If one of us can win that battle... things for summoners would change." He smiled.

"So, are you preparing to participate in those big tournaments?" Elliot nodded.

"It's not mandatory to do so, because the danger is imminent for the participants. But at every world championship, we try to bring a team." He nodded.

"I understand." Elliot nodded.

Knowing about his father was enough to convince him; he wanted to know what happened. He didn't want to die either, and if just joining that place changed his fate of dying, then he naturally wanted to join.

Despite this, he felt pressured because he didn't want to betray the only ones who helped him when he needed it. But he understood that joining the Runic Kingdom would only bring misfortune.

"I would like to join you," Elliot said.

Mikael smiled...

"But Jenna has to come with me. If possible, Andrew too."

"No problem." Mikael smiled. "You are both talented enough to belong to our organization. Plus, you will make a good team under our guidance. I don't think it will be long before you are powerful enough to walk the continent without worry."

Elliot nodded. "Do we need to sign any documents?"

"You'll do that when you arrive at the organization," he said, standing up and nodding to Anna. "Miss Anna, I heard you were looking to take control of a certain Border Territory."

Anna looked at him, confused. "That's right."

"I'll help you get it as a thank you for helping me convince him. You can return to your kingdom now if you like, or I can take you back when we return."

"Really?" Anna was stunned.

Mikael simply smiled. "Also, since I am taking the three most talented members of this generation from you, I will pay you according to your efforts in cultivating them and for the future. I hope your guild continues to grow as it has done so far."

"Thank you very much, sir." Anna bowed deeply to him. "I will convey this to the King and the Great Ancestor. I am sure they will be happy."

"Let's go to where that girl is. Perhaps she has already awakened. Staying here any longer would be a waste." Mikael replied, and without waiting for them to nod in response, he led them away from the place.
