Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 74 That Name Again
Emily picked up Klaus’s phone and saw a photo posted on the hottest website’s headline of a naked man in bed with a red-haired woman lying beneath him.
"Is it Gina?" Emily was a little startled. She didn’t expect this to be posted online so quickly. "Did you tell Marx to do it?"
"I was planning to ask Marx to release the news tomorrow morning, but I didn’t expect someone to beat me to it," Klaus shrugged. "Maybe someone who hates Catherine did it."
Emily’s finger scrolled across the phone screen, and she read the comments at the bottom of the photo. Many netizens commented, almost all of them mentioning "nude photos" and "scandal." Some even turned the photo into a short video with the caption: "Alpha’s daughter and the manservant."
She could imagine how her stepmother and father would react to such a remark. Let it serve as a lesson for them.
"Have you finished reading?" Klaus asked.
Emily handed the phone back to Klaus, but her doubts hadn’t entirely disappeared. Gina had failed to seduce him this time, so would another woman succeed next time?
A mixture of emotions rose within her—jealousy and suspicion.
"You still don’t believe me?" Klaus’s eyes darkened, and there was a hint of anger in his tone.
"Tell me, you really didn’t react when Gina stripped naked and stood in front of you?" Emily looked directly at Klaus. "Isn’t there even a slight physiological reaction?"
"What do you mean?" Klaus’s tone was low. "You still don’t believe me, do you?"
"Tell me the truth," Emily said, knowing that even without Gina, there would be other women in the future who would sacrifice themselves to Klaus. He was the Prince, the future Wolf King of the North, and he occupied a position of great attention.
There would always be women who wanted to replace Emily, and she didn’t want to spend too much time dealing with such questions. There was no bond of relationship between them, and such a love was too fragile to withstand the test.
Since becoming a princess, Emily had faced more and more problems, and she even felt a little tired. She had never wanted to stand at the pinnacle of power; everything was a last resort.
"Have you forgotten that I marked you?" Klaus stared at Emily.
"You did mark me, but that only means I belong to you," Emily said truthfully, her tone cold. "You could even mark other women."
"That’s enough," Klaus growled. As he glared at Emily, he noticed that her eyes were moist, and a breeze had carried away a tear.
Her presence broke his heart, and he couldn’t bear to reproach her.
Klaus bowed his head and sighed, like a general who had lost a battle and had chosen to surrender.
"I’m sorry," he said.
His apology caused Emily’s emotions to shatter in an instant, and she finally unleashed her long-suppressed feelings of injustice. She threw herself into his arms and wept loudly.
The moment she set foot on Southern soil, painful memories of the past weighed on her like boulders, making it difficult to breathe.
She tried to act like a princess, keeping a smile on her face for everyone. She was always mindful of what she said and did, but she knew that this was not who she truly was.
She hated her stepmother and her father, who had discarded her like trash in the North and were now taking everything she had. They had no shame, they were despicable!
She wept for a long time, her tears soaking Klaus’s clothes, but he still held her close, and his broad chest and warm body warmed her chilled heart a little.
When Emily regained her composure, she realized that her words had been too harsh.
"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that to you just now," Emily sniffed, her face wet with tears.
"I don’t remember what you just said," Klaus kissed her lightly on the cheek. "Are you feeling better now?"
Emily nodded, taking a deep breath as she tried to calm her tumultuous emotions.
By this time, the stars had multiplied in the night sky, and the moon had grown large and round, casting its bright, white light upon the earth so that even the smallest stone could be clearly seen.
Suddenly, there was the sound of footsteps at the bottom of the hill. Soon, several mountaineers with backpacks reached the summit and pitched their tents not far from Emily and Klaus. Some of them set up binoculars.
"Looks like your secret base has been discovered by someone else," Emily, who had calmed down, smiled and gazed at the flickering fireworks a short distance away, where a couple was lighting them.
"Do you like fireworks too?" Klaus whispered. "Wait for me here."
"Klaus," Emily stopped him, saying with some hesitation, "You can’t steal other people’s fireworks."
Klaus nodded okay and walked over to the couple. After speaking with the man for a moment, he pulled out several bills and handed them over. In return, the man gave Klaus the rest of the fireworks.
"He only had one firework left," Klaus said helplessly.
"It’s okay, one firework is enough," Emily smiled.
"Do you need me to light it for you?"
"Thank you."
Klaus took out his lighter, pressed it, and the flame leaped out. He lit the fireworks, and they went off like the brightest stars in the night sky. Then he handed the glittering fireworks to Emily, who kept her eyes fixed on the orange flames leaping before her. It was the first time she had set off fireworks from the top of a mountain.
Emily took the pyrotechnics, and her fingers lightly wound the magic that was about to bloom. Her eyes were wholly fascinated by the leaping orange flame, which looked like a living genie, dancing merrily in her hands.
The flames in the fireworks erupted like small volcanic eruptions, erupting and tingeing the air around them with warm colors. The light of the fire was reflected in Emily’s eyes, and her face reflected a brief flash of orange-red.
A firework burns for a short time, beautiful and fleeting, and when it is extinguished, and the last wisps of smoke are slowly dissipated in the air, the flickering fire in Emily’s eyes disappears with it, and her eyes are filled with a fondness for the beauty of the moment that has just occurred.
At that moment the click of a camera shutter sounded in his ear, and Klaus looked over to see a strange man snapping away at them.
The man approached and offered the photo to Klaus. "Sorry, I was trying to take a picture of the moon and accidentally got you in the frame. Here, this photo is for you."
"What did he capture?" Emily rose curiously and peered at the photograph in Klaus’s hand.
It showed Emily seated in the moonlight, a blazing firework in her grasp, gazing at it with those captivating blue eyes. Klaus sat beside her, his gaze fixed solely on her.
"That man’s photography skills are not bad," Klaus mused, staring at the photo. "Maybe I should frame this picture. What do you think of a diamond frame?"
"It’s beautiful," Emily said.
"My wife is, without a doubt, the most beautiful," Klaus complimented.
"I was talking about the moon," Emily clarified. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"I was talking about you," Klaus countered, pulling Emily into his arms. "You’re the only one I’ve ever been, and always will be, with."
"Klaus, I want to go down now." The mountain was growing colder, and Emily, dressed only in a thin frock coat, shivered slightly.
"Alright, let’s go."
Klaus led Emily away from the hills, and soon they found themselves on a suburban street. Emily halted Klaus when she spotted an ice cream parlor on the roadside.
"Klaus, stop."
Klaus pulled over his motorcycle, and Emily pointed to the red strawberries on the sign of the ice cream parlor across the street. "I want to eat strawberry ice cream."
Klaus parked his motorcycle outside the ice cream parlor, and as they walked inside, they found no customers inside, not even any waiters.
"Hello, is anyone here?" Klaus called out.
After a moment, there was a quick step from the kitchen, and I saw a middle-aged woman in an apron emerge from behind the kitchen curtain. Her face was haggard, and she smelled faintly of stale cigarettes.
"Sorry, I thought there were no customers at this time." The woman walked over to the cash register, smiling reluctantly. "What flavor of ice cream would you like?"
"A strawberry ice cream, please," Klaus said, pulling out a bill and handing it to the woman.
Just then, Emily rose from her seat and walked over to Klaus. As the woman was holding the freshly made ice cream and attempting to hand it to Klaus, she accidentally caught sight of Emily standing next to him.
"Luna Diane!" The woman looked horrified, and with a jerk of her hand, the ice cream fell to the floor.
"Your death has nothing to do with me, don’t come near me!" The woman screamed and darted straight out the door.
The woman apparently knew Emily’s mother’s name. Emily immediately became suspicious. What had she just said, and who had died?
"Klaus, catch her!" Emily yelled at Klaus. "Don’t let her get away!"
