Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 73 You Don’t Trust Me?
Klaus stared silently at Emily, who stood before him, deliberately maintaining a distance. The light at the end of the hallway was dim, but he could clearly discern her unyielding expression and questioning gaze.
She was suspicious of him.
The cries and pleas for mercy from behind him gradually dwindled and eventually faded into silence. Could it be that the valet had passed so soon? But he got what he deserved.
"Do you want to know what I just did with Gina in that room?" The corners of Klaus’s mouth curled upward, and her suspicions annoyed him so much that he wouldn’t tell her the truth outright unless she gave him some ground.
"Come closer." Klaus beckoned with his fingers.
Emily’s eyes narrowed in confusion, but she complied, seeking an answer from Klaus.
As Emily took a step forward, Klaus reached out and enveloped her in his arms. She struggled and tried to push him away, but how could her strength match his?
"Klaus..." Emily’s sentence was cut short as Klaus’s lips silenced her with a kiss.
His kiss was sudden, intense, even cathartic. Emily, powerless to resist, allowed him to have his way until she sagged in his arms, gasping for breath, and he ended the kiss.
"Come with me somewhere, and I’ll tell you everything that just happened." Klaus whispered in her ear, just as he had whispered every time he’d asked her before.
"I’m not interested now." Emily glared and spoke angrily, "Let me go."
"It’s not up to you." Klaus bent down and hoisted Emily onto his shoulders, wrapping one arm around her waist while he pulled out his cell phone with the other to call Marx.
"Help me get my motorcycle ready." Klaus’s words were simple and to the point.
Ten minutes later, Klaus carried Emily from the exclusive elevator to the underground parking garage, where a sleek black motorcycle was already waiting. Klaus set Emily down and tossed her a helmet that hung from the handlebar of her motorcycle.
"Put it on," Klaus said as he put on his own helmet and gestured for Emily to join him on the bike.
"Where are you taking me?" Emily asked, displeased.
"Come for a ride with me, and I’ll tell you everything." Klaus climbed onto the motorcycle, and soon the engine roared to life. "Come on."
Emily reluctantly put on her helmet, hiked up her skirt to reveal her legs, and sat down behind Klaus.
"Hold on to me tight," Klaus instructed as he started the motorbike, and soon they were speeding through the streets of the southern royal capital.
Klaus maneuvered the motorcycle through the busiest roads of the capital with such skill that he seemed to glide through even the heaviest traffic.
"Klaus, slow down!" Emily clung to Klaus’s waist, her voice filled with concern.
Wearing his helmet, Klaus chuckled and accelerated, and before long, they were out of the city center and on the outskirts. Klaus then turned his motorcycle onto a narrow road winding its way up the mountain. The motorcycle reached the summit before coming to a halt.
Klaus brought the bike to a halt and extended an arm for Emily to help her dismount. Emily had removed her helmet, and her curly brown hair danced in the breeze like dandelion seeds.
"Where is this?" Emily asked, looking around. As she gazed up at the sky, she couldn’t help but exclaim, "The moon is so beautiful."
Attaching his helmet to the motorcycle, Klaus approached Emily and wrapped his arms around her from behind, whispering in her ear, "Do you like it here?"
"Yes," Emily replied, gazing up at the full moon and the stars twinkling above. She pointed to one direction in the sky and said, "Look, those stars are Sagittarius."
"Do you read horoscopes?"
"Of course, Mrs. Ball taught me how to identify the constellations in the sky. It’s been ages since I’ve seen so many stars."
"Me too," Klaus said, following Emily’s finger to the sparkling stars in the night sky.
"How did you find this place?" Emily turned to look at Klaus, curiosity etched on her face. "You seem familiar with it?"
Klaus’s brow twitched slightly, and he replied, "I stumbled upon it during a previous visit to the South."
He wouldn’t, of course, reveal to Emily that this had once been his hiding spot in the royal capital of the South, where the North and South had been embroiled in conflict for years. To spy on the military situation in the South, he had spent time there under a false identity, alongside Marx.
When loneliness overcame him, he would take a motorcycle ride to this spot. Many years ago, he had been alone, but now he had Emily by his side.
With emotion, Klaus pulled Emily close, resting his head on her shoulder and deeply inhaling the distinctive scent of her body.
"She’s mine, and that’s a good thing."
"You haven’t told me what happened in that hotel room just now," Emily nudged Klaus slightly away and reverted back to the previous topic. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Why don’t we sit down?" Klaus gestured to a large boulder beside him.
"Don’t try to pull any tricks on me this time," Emily said, settling onto the rock.
"Where would you like to start?" Klaus began to undress, wrapping his arms around Emily to shield her from the cool night breeze atop the hill.
"Let’s start with the butler coming to get you."
Oh, the short one. It turned out she had already sensed something was amiss. And my little kitten seemed quite perceptive.
Klaus lowered his head to kiss Emily’s forehead before continuing, "While I was in the banquet hall, a valet approached me, saying the king wished to see me privately. He handed me a note with a room number on it, instructing me to go there and meet the king. But when I entered the room, it wasn’t the king who awaited me. It was your sister, Gina."
"And then?"
"Gina confronted me, claiming to be my princess and accusing you of taking her place." Klaus hesitated for a moment, wondering if he should divulge the entire story to Emily.
"Did she do anything else to you?" Emily peered into Klaus’s eyes. "I could sense something off about that room."
Sure, here’s the revised version with corrected grammar and adjusted phrasing to better fit an American English novel style:
"Well, it seems I couldn’t keep it from you," Klaus reluctantly said. "She stripped down and attempted to seduce me. She thought that by lighting a certain incense in the room, she’d lure me in, but it had little effect on me. So, I knocked her out and left her sprawled on the bed.
"That incense might charm others, but for an alpha werewolf like me, it’s just a minor annoyance. Besides, I’ve had military training, so I knew how to handle the situation."
"Keep going," Emily said.
"I called Marx and asked him to bring me the valet. Marx stripped the valet naked and left him next to Gina." Klaus smirked. "I think you can imagine the rest."
Emily lowered her gaze, deep in thought. After a moment, she spoke. "My stepmother did this. She deceived the king, claiming her daughter was missing, but her real plan was to make the king and the guests see you with Gina, so she could have Gina take my place."
"If she thinks sleeping with me will make Gina replace you, she’s got another thing coming," Klaus sneered.
"No, it’s just the first step in her plan," Emily clenched her fists. "She plans to let the king see you and Gina in bed, then tell him it was me who went to the North to marry instead of Gina, and that Gina is the real princess."
"So she wants her daughter to be a princess?" Klaus frowned. "Katherine didn’t want her daughter married off in the North, so she switched Gina with Emily. Now that she sees Emily as a princess, she’s jealous and wants Gina to take Emily’s place. What a scheming woman."
Klaus wouldn’t forget that it was this stepmother who had caused Emily to lose her wolf powers, and he wouldn’t forget the first time he saw her, chained and scarred.
Certainly, here’s the revised version with corrected grammar and phrasing:
"In addition to urging King James to unite the North against the West, I have the added task of avenging Emily."
"Before they could cause any more trouble, they offered to escort us to the door. In that case, I won’t be overly polite with them."
"Katherine won’t give up easily," Emily said, a dark cloud forming between her brows. "She’ll definitely keep coming at me."
"Don’t worry," Klaus comforted Emily. "Everyone saw her daughter sleeping with the manservant tonight, and soon, this matter will spread throughout the royal capital. What face can she possibly have left to stay here?"
"No matter what she does against you, I’ll stand in your way and handle it," Klaus continued.
At that moment, a message popped up on Klaus’s phone. He clicked on it, glanced at the screen, and chuckled. "I didn’t expect my words to come true so soon," he said to Emily.
"Did something happen?" Emily asked.
"See for yourself," Klaus said, handing the phone to Emily.
