Chapter 68: Chapter 68 A Visit to the South

In the following week, Emily attended class as usual and practiced martial arts. After the poisoning incident, the sinister nobles who had been hiding in the shadows dared not act rashly anymore. Dyson, who had always enjoyed provoking Krause, had also been recuperating in the hospital since he was injured in a hunting accident the previous year, so the time had been peaceful and comfortable for Emily.

Soon, Klaus and Emily would be visiting the South on behalf of the Northern Royal Family, who had arranged a special interview for them prior to their departure. This time around, Emily was very gracious in front of the camera, and she answered the reporters’ questions with poise and elegance, all thanks to the hard work she had put in during this period.

When the royal family posted a video of the interview on its official website, it quickly captured the attention of the people in the north, who left comments under the video, all praising the bride from the south. At the conclusion of their preparations, Klaus and Emily arrived at the airport, where they were about to embark on their journey south.

"Are you ready?" Klaus sat in his plane seat, holding Emily’s hand.

"Yes." Emily’s eyes gazed out the window of the plane as the ground crew outside prepared for takeoff.

A flight attendant approached Klaus and Emily with a pink scarf around her neck, smiling and respectfully saying, "Alpha, Luna. The plane has five minutes until departure, and our destination this time is the Southern Capital Airport. The entire journey will take approximately four hours. Now, allow me to fasten your seatbelts for you."

Klaus nodded, and the flight attendant thoughtfully fastened their seatbelts. Soon, the plane was slowly taking off.

"What are you thinking about, lover?" Klaus asked.

"Nothing." The corners of Emily’s mouth twitched slightly as she remembered that the first time she had flown was when she had been kidnapped to be married in the North. It was only a matter of a few months before she would be back in the South again, as Princess of the North.

How ironic!

"If you’re bored, ask your maid to come and chat with you," Klaus suggested. "I’m just going to have a business conversation with Marx. I’ll leave that to you."

"Thank you." Emily knew that Klaus was afraid she would be lonely, and he had given Heidi special permission to accompany her to the South. He had been looking after her and thinking of her constantly, and it had touched her deeply.

Klaus kissed her on the forehead, then, unbuckling his seatbelt, he stood up and headed for the cabin.

In the economy cabin, Marx took his seat, and Heidi sat across from him. The two of them sat silently and apart. Marx had a stern expression, and he seemed hostile towards Heidi.

"Did I do something wrong to provoke you?" Heidi took the initiative to speak. "Why are you staring at me like I’m a prisoner?"

"If you don’t want to see me, you can turn your face away," Marx’s tone was cold. "But I’m not going to change my attitude towards you."

"

Heidi’s tone was calm. "Whatever you want." Then she looked down at the magazine on her lap.

After a moment, Marx’s gaze fell on Heidi’s smooth skin, and he leaned forward slightly toward her before pretending to be casual and said, "Your skin looks smooth. Is it moisturized by the rain from the border?"

Marx’s hand brushed Heidi’s cheek, and his action immediately aroused Heidi’s displeasure. Her eyes flashed with a quick annoyance that was almost incongruous with her usual gentle and pathetic expression.

"Don’t touch me," Heidi rebuked in a low voice. "Maybe you should go to the border and experience life there, because the rain there is as dirty as you are."

"What’s going on?" came a deep voice.

When Heidi saw Klaus, she immediately saluted him respectfully. "Alpha, why are you here?"

"You go and talk to Luna," Klaus said, glancing at Marx. "Marx and I are here for business."

"Yes, sir." Heidi left her seat with her head bowed.

"Did you just provoke her?" A flash of displeasure flickered in Klaus’s eyes as he reminded Marx, "Heidi is Emily’s maid. Don’t toy with her emotions."

Marx was unimpressed and continued to stare after Heidi until she disappeared.

South—Red Moon Pack

"Damn it!"

An iPad slammed into the wall with a loud bang, sending the shattered device crashing to the ground and leaving a dent in the wall. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"What happened?" Luna Katherine hurried in from the next room when she heard the noise, pushing open the door to see her daughter angrily grabbing the cup on the table and smashing it on the floor.

"Stop, Gina!" Katherine tried to stop her daughter, but she was a step too late. Gina had already shattered the carved glass on the floor, and the flying shards narrowly missed Katherine’s foot.

"Enough!" Katherine raised her hand to slap her daughter, but it froze in mid-air. She couldn’t bear to strike her young daughter.

"Mom, have you seen the news?" Gina cried out in frustration, "That country girl, she’s now a princess."

"Calm down, baby." Katherine hugged Gina and whispered softly to reassure her daughter, "No one could have predicted this would happen."

Katherine never imagined that the country girl was now not only a princess but an Edelweiss princess, chosen by the King of the North.

The King of the South had declared that he would choose a young woman from each tribe to marry, and the woman must be the daughter of an Alpha. Out of all the packs, only Gina fit the criteria. But Katherine had heard that Alpha Klaus of the North was not only leaderless but also blind in one eye.

In order to prevent Gina from marrying Alpha Klaus, who has little real power, she decides to send Emily, who has been abandoned in the countryside, to the North to marry in Gina’s place.

After Emily is sent to the North, Katherine can’t wait to throw Gina’s birthday party and invites the unmarried Alphas and Betas from various packs to the celebration.

She expects one of them to take a liking to Gina and choose her as their mate. However, Katherine becomes enraged when an Omega valet bursts into the banquet and publicly declares Gina as his mate.

She forcibly pulls the Omega valet away from Gina and demands that she publicly reject him. At first, Gina is hesitant, as the bond of being a Mate with the man ties her deeply to him. But in the end, Gina obeys her mother’s orders and rejects the Omega valet in great pain.

That birthday party turned Gina into the laughingstock, and even the pack’s servants sneered at her behind her back. Katherine had planned to wait for the commotion to die down before finding a suitable match for Gina, but she doesn’t expect to see news of the Northern royals’ visit to the South on the internet at this time.

Katherine knows that Emily is returning, that she’s coming back as the Princess of the North, and she’s almost here now.

"Mom, why is that country girl the princess and not me?" Gina cries out in dissatisfaction, "She’s the princess now, and she’ll be the queen in the future."

"Baby, she won’t be in the limelight for long," Katherine said with hatred. "She doesn’t have a wolf. How could the Northern Royal Family let a woman without a wolf become queen?"

At this, Katherine’s eyes suddenly brightened, as if she had thought of something. Katherine gently took Gina’s shoulders and looked at her intently, "Listen, my darling. The position of Princess of the North was originally yours, and it was Emily who took your place."

"Mom, what are you talking about?" Gina’s eyes were red, and she looked at her mother in confusion.

"Tell me, do you want to be a princess?" Katherine’s face grew serious.

"Of course, I want to be a princess," Gina replied, making no secret of the fact that at this moment all discontent and weeping had given way to a thirst for power.

"Then you’re going to do what I say." Katherine helped her daughter to the edge of the bed and sat down. She lowered her voice, "Listen, it was Emily who pretended to marry you in the North. She changed the name on the marriage list without authorization, all because she was jealous of you and wanted to replace you."

"But that’s not the case," Gina said, her eyes full of bewilderment, for Katherine had just said the exact opposite.

"Shut up!" Katherine interrupted her daughter, her voice unmistakably cold, "That’s just the way it is."

Seeing that Gina had not responded yet, Katherine called for the housekeeper.

"Nancy, Nancy," she called out.

Presently, the housekeeper appeared in the room and, looking at the confusion on Gina’s face, understood immediately what was going on.

"Close the door," Katherine said. "I believe you know about that country girl, right?"

Nancy nodded, and now the whole household knew the news that Emily had become the Princess of the North. She guessed, too, that her mistress must be angry about it, for the news was undoubtedly a great shock to Katherine.

"Mom, what do you want to do?" Gina asked, a little apprehensively, her voice tinged with unease and confusion.

"Oh, baby. All I want is to make you a princess," Katherine’s voice softened, and she gently stroked Gina’s face, her eyes full of maternal love and distress. "You should have been the most honorable woman. You are so young and so beautiful. There is no man, I’m sure, who couldn’t like you."

Gina sniffed and nodded thoughtfully.

Katherine and Nancy looked at each other. "We need to plan," Katherine said, with a hint of intrigue in her voice.
