Chapter 114: Chapter 114 Rebel Attack

Southern Airport

The plane lumbered into the air, and Elijah sat by the window, his face a mask of neutrality, his gaze piercing through the window into the velvety night sky.

At that moment, Klaus’s face flickered through Elijah’s mind. He recalled confronting Klaus in the downpour, reminiscent of their duel on the battlefield years prior.

They had been on the verge of clashing swords.

He had been mere inches from escaping with Emily.

Elijah glared fiercely down at Haley, who was kneeling at his feet. The doctor attending to her had wrapped her wounds, yet she still appeared frail, and her shallow breaths elicited not sympathy from Elijah but rebuke.

"You ruined my plans, Haley," Elijah unleashed his fury on Haley. "You should have remained buried in that mud and let Klaus torment you to your death."

If she had delivered Emily to him as intended, Emily would already be in his grasp. And Klaus would be devastated by the loss of his mate.

By the time Klaus arrived, Elijah had already discerned from the glances exchanged between Klaus and Emily that they were soulmates. No wonder the Dark Wizard’s prophecy declared that the weapons that would vanquish Klaus were the Southern Bride and the Flames.

So, Emily is Klaus’s mate. Oh, Klaus, it seems your Achilles’ heel remains unchanged.

Elijah reminisced about the duel he and Klaus had fought on the battlefield and how Klaus had been thrown off balance by his mate’s sudden appearance.

Klaus had witnessed his mate’s demise with his own eyes, and in that instant, he seemed to have lost all his might. Because of this, Elijah, aided by a dark wizard, had managed to blind Klaus in one eye.

It had been a battle that had left both Elijah and Klaus battered, neither emerging victorious.

And this time, Elijah had fled. It wasn’t fear of Klaus that drove him; it was his more pressing agendas.

He had to return to the West to address the rebels, and Haley was one of his trusted lieutenants, so keeping her alive was advantageous.

"Elijah, please forgive me," Haley begged. "Please grant me another chance. Don’t abandon me."

Elijah sighed, his expression deliberately inscrutable. "Haley, I’ll give you one last chance. Don’t let me down again."

"Thank you, Elijah," Haley said, grateful.

Elijah glanced at Haley, who had mixed feelings for his sister. He had never known when Haley had fallen in love with him, and since they were young, their father had trained them to be ruthless. As the offspring of the wolf king, they were both siblings and rivals.

Their father had been pleased to see his children compete against each other, as he believed that was the only way to select the most worthy successor among them.

Therefore, Elijah’s relationship with his siblings had always been strained. Until the night Haley became an adult, she snuck into Elijah’s bed and confessed her feelings, then voluntarily undressed herself.

Elijah didn’t refuse, because, in his opinion, this sister was no different from other she-wolves. He never had any moral boundaries with her, and he not only had sex with his sister but also killed his other brothers with his own hands.

Haley was like an obedient servant who did whatever he commanded.

"Come here." Elijah gestured to Haley.

Haley stood up slowly from the ground, holding back her pain. Elijah took Haley’s waist and sat her on his lap.

"Does your injury still hurt?" Elijah stroked Haley’s cheek.

"No." Haley replied stubbornly.

"Haley soon. I want you to kill those rebels for me. Tell me, can you do it?"

"Yes."

"Good." Elijah gave a satisfied smile. "Come on, sleep in my arms for a while. I’ll wake you up when the plane lands."

Elijah hugged Haley, closing his eyes and imagining that the woman in his arms was Emily. He missed her, he missed the scent of her body, he missed her lips, he missed everything about her.

When he had the Immortal Legion, he would rule the entire continent, and Klaus would not be his opponent at all.

I’ll definitely get you, Emily.

Seven hours later, the plane slowly landed at the airport in the West. A special car for Western royalty had been waiting on the tarmac for a long time.

As soon as Elijah entered the car, the Secretary-General was eager to report to him on the situation in the country.

"Your Majesty, you’re finally back." The gray-haired secretary general said, "Those rebels have captured two packs, and their target is most likely the capital."

"Who is the leader of the rebels?" Elijah asked in a deep voice.

"It is said to be your brother’s former subordinates, and they are attacking under the banner of your brother. They even posted on the internet that your brother wasn’t actually dead, he was just hiding for the time being." This news shook some of the Pack’s alphas, and some even joined the rebels."

Elijah’s face darkened when he heard the news, and he was contemplating what to do about the rebels when a burst of gunfire erupted.

The bullets rained down on the car, and Elijah felt a surge of anxiety and shouted at the people in the car, "Get down!"

"Elijah, be careful." Haley immediately blocked Elijah with her body to prevent him from being shot.

The Secretary-General lay under the car seat, his hands clutching his head. Two jeeps were ramming their car from either side, a bullet pierced through the window of the car and struck the driver’s head, and a soldier sitting in the passenger seat hastily grabbed the steering wheel with one hand and fired at the enemy with the other.

At that moment, a dazzling white light flickered in front of them. The reinforcements led by Wizard Green approached like a raging torrent. Green stood atop an armored car, waving his wand, and a shield that shone with a mysterious light instantly enveloped Elijah’s car. The shield was so sturdy that it deflected the raining bullets.

Green shouted a spell as streams of magical light shot out of his wand, striking the jeeps on either side. The tires of one of the jeeps were instantly blown apart by magic, and the vehicle lost control, crashing into a tree by the roadside. Seeing this, the rebels in the other jeep were terrified and hurriedly turned around to flee. He waved his wand again, and a powerful magical shockwave knocked the jeep to the ground.

The soldiers of the support units also quickly entered the fray, firing their weapons with all their might at the rebels. Soon, members of the rebel group were killed, and their bodies lay on the ground, blood staining the ground red like a river.

Elijah pushed open the door, and Green, dressed in a gray cloak, walked up to Elijah and said respectfully, "You’re back, Your Majesty."

"Thank you for your help, Green."

Elijah glanced at the corpses on the ground. These were masterpieces of magic. Elijah thought to himself, it seemed that Green’s magical skills had improved again in the days he had been away.

A strange smile tugged at the corner of the wizard’s mouth. "Congratulations, Your Majesty, you will soon be able to obtain the Undead Legion."

Elijah’s eyes flashed with joy upon hearing the news.

Klaus, your time of death is approaching.
