Chapter 112: Chapter 112 My Wolf

At the critical moment, Emily instinctively turned aside. But Heidi’s wolf-paw still raked Emily’s shoulder, and the sharp claws, like razor blades, instantly carved out a deep wound, causing blood to gush forth and stain her dress red. The pain was excruciating, causing Emily to gasp, but she bore it and refused to fall.

Heidi didn’t stop there. She raised her foot and kicked Emily in the stomach. The force was so intense that Emily felt as if her internal organs had been jostled, and a sharp pain lanced through her, causing her body to involuntarily contort.

Emily collapsed to the ground, the rain pouring down her hair and dripping onto the earth, mingling with the muddy water. Slowly, her vision grew hazy, and the world began to distort before her. The frigid rain enveloped her, and the biting chill made her shiver uncontrollably. She felt powerless and cold, as if she had been forsaken by the world in this desolate corner.

Was she really going to die this time? The thought flashed through her mind, accompanied by boundless terror and despair. No, I don’t want to die.

"Emily, Emily." At that moment, Emily heard her wolf calling to her. It seemed to come from afar, yet it echoed loudly in her mind.

"Shirley, is that you?" Emily addressed her wolf silently, her voice tinged with eagerness and nostalgia. "Shirley, where are you?"

"Emily, focus on sensing me," her wolf replied, her voice deep and commanding. "Call me and bring me back into your body."

Emily closed her eyes and attempted to gather her thoughts. Concentrating, she felt Shirley’s presence with all her heart. She envisioned Shirley and recalled the time they had spent together.

A splash of icy, muddy water on Emily’s face disrupted her reverie, and she opened her eyes to see a pair of black boots treading through the muddy terrain.

"Emily, you’re so helpless," Heidi sneered, her sarcasm as cold and unrelenting as the rain. "I truly don’t understand, how can you be the princess of the north with such fragile strength?"

Heidi gazed down at Emily, her eyes filled with disdain. "You’re as pathetic as a woman without a wolf."

Emily’s fists were buried deep in the muddy water, and the flame of anger blazed within her. "Shirley, Shirley, I need you."

Heidi dragged Emily from the ground and tossed her aside like a rag doll. She watched with amusement as Emily struggled to her feet, "Oh, look at you now, how humiliated you are."

"Let’s put an end to this," Heidi flashed in front of Emily and lunged at her, her wolf’s paw raised high, aimed for Emily’s heart. The sharp claws of the wolf gleamed in the rain, like harbingers of death, poised to claim Emily’s life.

But just as Heidi’s wolf paw was about to impale Emily’s heart, Emily suddenly reached out and grasped Heidi’s wrist with a firm grip.

"Who told you I didn’t have a wolf?" Emily lifted her gaze, her eyes blazing with fiery anger.

In her ears, she heard the loud, powerful howl of her wolf, a sound that seemed to pierce the rain and shake the trees.

This time, her wolf was truly back, with boundless majesty and momentum, like a warrior returning after a prolonged absence, ready to fight by her side.

Emily grabbed Heidi’s wrist and twisted it downward with force. With the sound of bones snapping, Heidi winced in pain.

"How is that possible?" Heidi’s eyes widened, unable to believe what was unfolding before her.

"A woman like me without a wolf is pathetic, isn’t it?" Emily glared at Heidi. "Do you think you can take someone’s life at will just because you’re stronger than others?"

Emily flung Heidi to one side, and her body slammed into the trunk of the tree with a loud thud. She collapsed to the ground, and a gush of blood poured from her mouth.

"That’s how you stayed with me, isn’t it?" Emily approached Heidi step by step. "When I first saw you, you were covered in wounds. I thought you’d truly lost your family. I pitied you because I saw in you what I once was. I made you my maid and treated you as my friend. And all of this is considered foolishness in your eyes."

Heidi stood up, her other hand propping her up on the ground, panting and glaring at Emily. "I never considered you my friend. I had to approach you just to carry out my mission."

"So everything you’ve been doing in front of me has been an act, huh?" Emily’s roar echoed through the woods, and the rain began to fall harder and harder.

"Isn’t it a little late for you to come to your senses now?" Heidi said sarcastically. "If you weren’t so stupid, how could you have been fooled by me?"

"So, a woman like you never knows pity. How can you expect a man you like to fall in love with you?" Emily sneered. "You want to kill me just because you’re afraid Elijah will like me and not you. But have you ever considered that maybe Elijah doesn’t love you at all, even without me?"

"Shut up! You don’t understand anything," Heidi shrieked, as if someone had betrayed her secret. In a frenzy, she lunged at Emily.

However, Emily dodged to the side, and Heidi’s attack missed. But she didn’t give up and continued to attack Emily. Heidi’s wolf-like paws swung through the air, causing gusts of wind to swirl around them.

Emily seized the moment and kicked Heidi in the stomach as she lunged again. Heidi’s body bent slightly, and her face contorted in pain.

Emily took advantage of the opening to punch Heidi in the face once more, causing her to stagger back a few steps. Without hesitation, Emily threw Heidi with all her might, and Heidi slammed into the ground, struggling futilely to get up.

The sound of the falling rain gradually became the harbinger of the battle’s end, and the clouds in the sky slowly dissipated, revealing a glimmer of light in the otherwise dark woods.

Heidi gasped as the rain drenched her. Her hands were buried in the mud, and her gaze on Emily was a mix of reluctance and hatred.

Should I kill her? Emily paused, hesitating.

At that moment, a figure suddenly materialized in front of Emily, standing between her and Heidi. His hair was as black as the night sky, and in the dim light, it seemed to blend seamlessly into the vast expanse of darkness. He stared at Emily with those gray, almost translucent eyes, deep and complex, as if they held countless secrets.

"That’s enough, Emily," Elijah’s calm voice was as powerful as a sharp blade cutting through the flesh of a tree trunk.

"Elijah, help me!" Heidi cried out.

Elijah ignored Heidi and stepped closer to Emily. "Follow me, Emily."

Emily looked at him, then slowly retreated. Just as she was about to turn and run, her wolf suddenly became inexplicably agitated.

"Mate, mate," her wolf whispered.
