Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 110 Why He Loves You
Emily slowly opened her eyes, and there was endless darkness surrounding her. The pungent smell of disinfectant mingling with leather was so strong that she almost gagged. Her body was cold and damp, as if she had just been pulled from icy waters, and every inch of her skin tingled.
She tried to move, but she was weak, as if all her strength had been drained. There was a rattling sound, the dullness of which was particularly distinct in the darkness, and she felt certain that she was now locked in the trunk of her car. What the hell is going on?
Emily slowly regained consciousness and tried to recall what had happened before. She remembered being in her hotel room and then being approached by Heidi, who said they were going to talk about Klaus. But then she fell into a fog and could remember nothing else.
At that moment, the car, which had been moving, suddenly stopped. Emily’s body rolled forward due to inertia, and her head struck the hard inner wall of the trunk. The impact caused a piercing pain in her head, and an instant sensation of dizziness filled her brain, almost robbing her of the ability to think.
Before she could react, the lid of the trunk was suddenly opened. A white light flashed into her eyes like a sharp sword, and the intensity of it made her close her eyes subconsciously.
The next second, she was grabbed by the wrist and pulled out. As her strength had not yet returned, her legs suddenly became unsteady, and she fell limply to the ground. The hard ground hurt her.
"Look at you, so fragile." A cold, mocking voice rang out, and Emily opened her eyes to see the face of the woman standing before her.
"Heidi?" Emily’s voice was weak, and she looked at the woman before her with an expression of coldness that was almost like the Heidi she had known before.
A smell of blood wafted through the air, and Emily’s gaze wandered to the back of Heidi, where she saw the body of a man lying on the ground. Blood stained the man’s chest red, and a yellow hat lay beside him, with the words "David Farm" marked on the rim.
"Did you kill that man?" Emily’s eyes widened; she could not believe what she was seeing.
"Yes." Heidi replied in a cold voice, "You’re to blame for that. I wouldn’t have had to change cars at all if it hadn’t been for the guards manning the checkpoints at the various junctions. This idiot happened to be driving by and thought my car had broken down. He was scared to death when I pulled out my pistol. All the way, he kept begging me for mercy, saying that if I wouldn’t kill him, he would take me to his farm and give me all the money he had. You see, this is what happens to fools. Is he the same as when you started?"
"Why are you doing this, Heidi?" Emily’s eyes were a mixture of shock and bewilderment as to why she had never discovered this other side of Heidi.
"Don’t call me Heidi, that’s not my real name." Heidi’s face was full of displeasure, and there was a hint of annoyance in her voice. She kicked Emily violently, and the kick sent a slight shiver through Emily’s body. "Get up and go to that warehouse."
Emily supported herself with her hands and struggled to her feet. Her legs felt as if they were made of cotton. Without any support, she swayed from side to side as she walked and almost fell again.
Heidi sneered at her, "You look like a clown." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Emily stopped, clinging to the edge of the car as she questioned Heidi. "What medicine did you give me?"
Heidi sneered again and replied lightly, "I just injected you with a little anesthetic."
Anesthetic? Emily was furious at the word. It had never occurred to her that Heidi could have done such a thing to her.
Heidi’s voice urged her from behind, "Hurry up."
So she had to head in the direction of the warehouse. Before she could reach it, Heidi had already pushed open the door, and the smell of hay greeted her. Seeing that Emily was moving too slowly, Heidi impatiently grabbed her by the collar and dragged her into the warehouse.
Heidi shoved Emily into a haystack and slammed the warehouse door shut. Emily sat on the haystack, her body and hair covered in hay and debris. Heidi gazed at Emily’s embarrassed expression, a smug look in her eyes.
"What the hell do you want to do?" Emily exclaimed, her eyes fixed on Heidi.
"We’re here because there’s still a long time before the plane takes off," Heidi replied, her lips curling into a wicked smile, a hint of grotesquery in it. "Why don’t we play a game?"
"I’m not going to play any games with you," Emily clenched her fists. "Who the hell are you, and why did you go through the trouble of posing as my maid?"
"Do you think I want to be your maid?" Heidi yelled at Emily, tugging at her hair. "If it weren’t for the mission, do you think I’d be willing to be a lowly maid? As for my identity, you have no right to know it."
Emily winced in pain as Heidi pulled her hair. "What the hell is your purpose in approaching me?"
"You should ask Elijah about that," Heidi’s voice was filled with anger. "It’s all because he wants you."
That Wolf-King of the West, why did he do it?
"Tell me, how did you meet Elijah?" Heidi’s eyes had a fierce glint. "What kind of charm did you use to make him obsessed with you? He even beat me up for you."
Emily sneered, "Then you should ask him."
Heidi scowled, her face contorted with anger. She threw Emily to the ground and then drew a dagger from her boot, shaking it in Emily’s face.
"Elijah only asked me to bring you alive to him, but he didn’t say I couldn’t hurt you," Heidi said, holding the dagger, the sharp blade flashing silver in the light. "Now let’s play a game. I ask, you answer. If your answer doesn’t satisfy me, I’ll stab you in the face."
Emily instinctively drew back, startled by the silvery gleam of the dagger. Slowly, she moved towards the warehouse door, and was about to reach it when Heidi grabbed Emily by the collar from behind and pressed the dagger against Emily’s neck.
"Game on," Heidi’s voice suddenly rang out, poignant and eerie, like the trumpet of death.
