Chapter 105: Chapter 105 You Make Me Feel Like a Fool

"Are you finally willing to tell the truth?" There was a hint of sarcasm in Klaus’s indifferent tone. "Come on, give me a reason to forgive you."

Emily sighed deeply, "Many years ago, when I was a girl, I inadvertently saved a boy. I never knew who he was until that day at the mall. A man pushed me into a utility room and told me he was that same boy. That’s the way it is."

"That’s it?" There was a hint of doubt in Klaus’s voice.

"Yes."

"Did he touch you?" Klaus stared into Emily’s eyes. "Tell me the truth."

Should he be told the truth? Emily hesitated for a second, then replied, "No."

Klaus was silent, his gaze never leaving Emily’s, as if he were trying to gauge whether her words were true.

Then he sighed, "Why are you lying to me?"

"I didn’t lie to you." Emily tried to sound calm and clear the air, but it seemed things were going from bad to worse.

"Why didn’t you tell me the truth when I asked you if you’d met anyone at the mall?" Klaus yelled at her. "If you had told me you met Elijah, I would have caught him and killed him."

Emily struggled to control her anger and lowered her voice. "I didn’t know that man was Elijah."

"But you still lied to me. Why?" Klaus approached Emily, his anger filling the room.

"Because you would have killed him if you knew the truth." Emily could no longer hold it in. She spoke the truth aloud. "Because you’re a jealous man who likes to control and always wants me to be submissive to you. But you never cared what I thought."

"I do this because I care about you." Klaus slammed his fist against the wall behind Emily, causing a violent sound.

"That’s enough, Klaus." Emily clenched her fists, her shoulders trembling. "I feel like a fool right now."

"I’m the fool." Klaus roared. "I love you so much, and you think I’m controlling you. Let me show you what control really is."

Klaus picked Emily up and, despite her struggles, threw her onto the bed in the bedroom. He pressed her down with the weight of his body, then seized her hands and raised them high above her head.

"That’s control." Klaus looked down at Emily with an air of indifference.

"Tell me, where did he touch you?" Klaus squeezed Emily’s breasts hard with one free hand. "Is this it?"

"Klaus, don’t." Emily looked pained, and tears filled her eyes instantly.

Klaus watched in silence as the tears trickled down Emily’s cheeks. After a few minutes, he let go of her.

Klaus’s voice was filled with sadness. "Even if you deceived me, even if you made me lose the opportunity to kill Elijah, I still can’t punish you. You win, Emily."

He left the bedroom and went alone to the living room.

Tears blurred Emily’s vision. Slowly, she sat up in bed and then walked out into the drawing room. She looked at Klaus, who was smoking a cigarette. The familiar figure seemed extremely strange to her at that moment, and the tears, which had just stopped, came again.

"I made a bad decision," Emily glared at Klaus through tear-filled eyes. "I had the opportunity to dissolve our marriage, but I didn’t. I thought we could continue this marriage even if we weren’t in a matrimonial relationship. But I was mistaken."

Emily thought back to what she had said to King James in the dining room and how determined she had been to stay married to Klaus.

All that she had wanted to say to him was lost in that moment, and her heart ached.

Because she and Klaus were unable to establish a true heart-to-heart connection, they were never able to fully trust each other. Suspicion was like a sharp thorn in her heart, and a marriage without intimacy was too stifling and depressing.

Ending the marriage, at least, would leave her free.

Klaus stubbed out his cigarette and exhaled a wisp of white smoke from his mouth. Slowly, he raised his head, and his gaze met Emily’s through the smoke. There was a hint of confusion, anger, and pain in his eyes. "You want a divorce?"

"Yes," Emily leaned weakly against the wall, as if its coldness were her only support. The tears blurred her vision and prevented her from seeing Klaus’s expression, but she could feel the intense aura emanating from him. Her heart felt as if it were being pierced by countless needles, and the pain was unbearable.

As Emily spoke, Klaus moved in front of her with lightning speed. He raised her chin with his hand, using a force that was neither too light nor too heavy, but enough to keep Emily from pulling away.

"You broke into my world first. Do you think I’ll let you leave easily?" Klaus stared at her, his eyes overbearing and possessive. "You don’t count."

"Why continue being together when we can’t be loyal and trust each other?" Emily said, her voice feeble, filled with exhaustion and despair. She felt drained and couldn’t continue this marriage of contradictions and suffering any longer.

"And what about you? Can you remain loyal and trust me?" Klaus asked rhetorically, his eyes betraying a hint of unease. "If your wolf came back, would you still choose to stay with me if you found your mate?"

"Why don’t you ask yourself that question?" There was a hint of stubbornness in Emily’s eyes, and she refused to show weakness in this argument.

"Good question," Klaus said, releasing his hold on Emily’s chin and looking at her with mixed emotions in his eyes. "Oh, I haven’t tried other women yet. Thanks for the reminder." There was a hint of sarcasm and defiance in his words.

Klaus turned and walked towards the door, his steps firm and determined. Before leaving, he said to Emily, "We’re not really done yet, Emily."

The sound of the door slamming shut was like a sledgehammer to Emily’s heart. A heavy atmosphere filled the room, as if time had stood still. Emily sat down slowly, tears streaming down her face.
