Chapter 102: Chapter 102 She’s My Sister

Royal Hospital

Prince Adam stood silently outside the hospital room, his hand gripping a DNA test report, a sheet of paper that seemed to weigh a thousand pounds. The sun shone through the window, but it could not dispel the gravity etched on his brow.

Inside the ward, King James was earnestly discussing matters of state with several members of the council. Their voices, low and stern, reverberated through the hushed hospital room. The minutes dragged on as if stretched to eternity. Now and then, Prince Adam glanced at the door to the sickroom, his heart filled with anxiety and anticipation.

After about half an hour, the meeting finally concluded. One by one, the councilors emerged from the room, clad in their black suits, their faces thoughtful and hurried. Prince Adam watched their departing backs, and the tension within him mounted. Prince Adam drew a deep breath, clutched the report in his hand, and pushed open the door leading into the room.

"Adam?" King James was now standing on the terrace, a pale yellow sun shining down upon him, as if enveloping him in a soft aura. He tilted his head slightly, a hint of inquiry in his eyes.

"Father," Prince Adam whispered, his voice unusually clear in the stillness. "I have something important to tell you."

"What’s the matter?" King James’s gaze slowly fell upon the document in Prince Adam’s hand, and his eyes expressed skepticism. "What do you have there?"

"It’s..." Prince Adam paused for two seconds, "This is Emily’s DNA test report."

"What?" King James looked surprised. "Emily’s DNA test report?"

"Please forgive me, Father," Prince Adam’s voice was filled with guilt. "I took Emily’s hair and did a DNA comparison test with mine without your permission."

"Did you see the results?" King James stepped away from the balcony into the room, his face slightly darkening, like a sky overcast with clouds.

"No, I didn’t," Prince Adam said truthfully. "You have the right to be the first to see this report."

King James stared at the report Prince Adam held in his hand and did not hesitate to take it directly. He turned his back on Prince Adam and then slowly pulled the DNA test report out of his file folder.

Prince Adam watched his father’s back intently, his eyes following every movement of King James, his heart filled with apprehension and unease. As King James slowly turned around, Prince Adam saw that his brows were slightly furrowed, and those slightly furrowed lines seemed to carry a thousand thoughts. Then, with a gentle motion, he returned the DNA test report to his file folder.

"She’s my daughter and Diane’s," King James’s voice was deep and resounding.

At this, Prince Adam’s expression stiffened for an instant, but he quickly regained his composure. He tried to force a smile and said to his father, "Congratulations, Father."

Then, Prince Adam hesitantly asked, "So you’re not going to tell Emily about the results for now?"

King James lowered his gaze slightly, thought for a moment, and then said, "Don’t let Emily know this news for the time being. I’m afraid she can’t accept that fact now. After all, she’s been through too much recently."

"She’s been through so many unfortunate things," Prince Adam’s eyes showed deep pity. "She was abandoned by Alpha Robert when she was a child, and then forced by her stepmother to marry in the north. She’s suffered so much. Maybe we should leave her in the south and take good care of her."

"But she’s Luna of Alpha Klaus now," King James looked embarrassed, his brows furrowed. "I also want her to stay in the south, but I’m afraid it won’t work with the current situation."

"So what are we going to do? If she’s allowed to remain in the North, I fear she will suffer. After all, she and Alpha Klaus aren’t in a mating relationship. Once our alliance with the North breaks down, what will Emily do?" Prince Adam’s tone was filled with concern. "I don’t want my sister to fall prey to a political alliance."

"Me too," King James said heavily. "But now we’re still in an alliance with the North, and if we force Emily to stay, the King of the North will question our position."

Then King James said, "Since the Wolf King of the West is here, I should also go and meet him."

"The Wolf King of the West resides in a royal villa on the outskirts," Prince Adam responded, his expression tinged with caution. "He’ll be ready to meet you at any time."

King James narrowed his eyes slightly, and there was a hint of alertness in them. "Have people keep an eye on him, and it’s better not to let him leave the confines of the villa. Otherwise, we’ll be at a disadvantage if Alpha Klaus finds out he’s here."

"And what about Alpha Klaus?" Prince Adam asked, his brows furrowed with concern. "How long are we going to detain them?"

"Wait until I meet with the Western Wolf King before deciding when to let them go," King James raised his hand and glanced at the time on his watch. "Inform the Western Wolf King that I will meet him at the villa in an hour."

"Yes, Your Majesty," Prince Adam immediately complied.

Soon after, King James arrived at the royal villa on the outskirts of the city, where he conducted a one-hour interview with Elijah, the Wolf King of the West. After the interview, King James left the villa in a car. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

King James sat in the back seat of the car, his eyes closed, lost in thought. Prince Adam sat beside his father, his eyes full of care and concern. He hadn’t been present at the interview with the Wolf King of the West, so he didn’t know what had passed between his father and the Wolf King, but judging from the way King James looked, it didn’t seem to have gone well.

After a few minutes, King James slowly opened his eyes and said to Prince Adam, "Elijah has only one request for us: as long as we don’t help the North attack the West, they’re willing to provide us with financial support."

"So you agreed to his request?" Prince Adam asked cautiously.

King James nodded helplessly. "We need money to solve the debt crisis. This is a secret deal between us and the West, and this matter must not be known to the Wolf King of the North."

"But what about the north?" Prince Adam frowned. "Are we going to break the alliance with the North?"

King James sighed heavily, "We continue to remain neutral. I plan to provide a batch of weapons to the North, and if they choose to attack the West, let them fight among themselves."

"But Alpha Klaus is insistent that if we remain neutral, he will consider us renegades." Prince Adam looked worried. "Then Emily’s situation will be difficult. Father, I want Emily to stay in the South."

"You’re right. But we need to ask Emily first, and if she truly doesn’t want to go north, I will find a way to keep her in the South. I could tell that Alpha Klaus seemed to care for her." King James thought for a moment and said, "Tell Emily that I will be having lunch with her at noon."

"Yes, Your Majesty." Prince Adam replied.
