Chapter 101: Chapter 101 A Misunderstanding

"Heidi, show me your phone," Emily repeated, and Heidi pulled her phone from her apron pocket, handing it to Emily.

Emily looked suspiciously at Heidi’s phone, swiping quickly across the screen, searching every corner that might contain a photo or video, but there was nothing, as Heidi had said.

Dolly stepped forward, staring at the phone screen with the same incredulous expression, and reluctantly examined it again, but still found nothing. "How is this possible? I saw you taking pictures," Dolly frowned, her tone still skeptical.

Heidi’s eyes were still red, and she said aggrievedly, "I really didn’t sneak a look. Maybe you were mistaken."

Emily looked first at Dolly and then at Heidi, unsure of what to say for a moment. She sighed softly and returned the phone to Heidi. "Maybe it’s just a misunderstanding, but Heidi, you have to be more careful in the future and avoid causing such misunderstandings again."

Heidi nodded silently and took the phone. She lowered her head and whispered, "Your Highness, if there’s nothing else, may I leave?"

"Of course, you can leave." Emily thought for a moment and added, "You can take a day off tomorrow."

"Thank you, Your Highness." Heidi saluted Emily, "Goodnight, Your Highness."

After Heidi had left the room, Dolly, still somewhat reluctant, bit her lip and paced around the room.

"I clearly saw her secretly filming us with her phone, but why can’t I find any photos on it?" Dolly muttered to herself, still puzzled by what had just happened.

"Forget it, Dolly," Emily admonished her. "As you saw, Heidi doesn’t have any pictures on her phone. Maybe you were hallucinating because you’d been drinking."

"Perhaps," Dolly said. "Don’t you think that maid is strange? Why would she come to clean up at this time?"

"Forget about it, Dolly." Emily yawned. "It’s getting late. Do you want to stay here and sleep?"

"No," Dolly shook her head. "I don’t want to be thrown out of the door by your jealous husband. I’m going back to my room to sleep now."

"Okay, whatever you want."

Emily went back to the bedroom and threw herself onto the bed to sleep again.

........

Suburb, Royal Villa

Elijah was temporarily housed in a royal villa by the King of the South to keep his whereabouts hidden. He hadn’t brought much of his entourage with him on this trip to the South, only a few personal bodyguards.

Although the King of the South didn’t restrict his freedom, the royal counsellor in charge of his reception specifically advised him that it was best not to leave the royal villa except under extraordinary circumstances. After all, the King of the South didn’t want him and Krause to meet at such a time.

It was late in the evening, but Elijah wasn’t sleepy. Outside the window, the thick blackness of night enveloped the land, and only the faintest glimmer of starlight flickered in the distant sky, like a faint hope. He stood silently before the window, his posture as erect as if he were relaxed, holding the silver bracelet in his hand. The moonlight fell upon him, casting a cold outline.

Emily’s beautiful blue eyes came back to him like brilliant sapphires, sparkling with enchantment. It was the first time he had ever touched her so intimately. The young, innocent girl I remember is now a stunning woman. Her scent was so sweet, like a flower in its spring bloom, exhaling an enchanting perfume.

He wanted to possess her in that dark room, to make her all his own. He longed to feel her warmth, to hear her whisper his name, to have all of her, including her soul.

However, when he discovered that she had been marked, he was enraged. She was his sun, the only warmth and hope in his life. She should have belonged to him alone. But now, she belonged to another man, and that man was his old enemy.

He had no choice but to flee when he sensed Klaus was nearby. It wasn’t because he was afraid of Klaus, but he couldn’t let Klaus find out he was in the south. The most important objective of his journey was to convince the King of the South and the Western Allies that he wouldn’t allow his plans to be thwarted by selfish desires.

As much as he yearned for Emily, he had to endure. Just in case, he might not be able to leave for the rest of the night.

That’s when Elijah’s cell phone rang. He picked up the phone, glanced at the caller ID, and pressed the answer button.

"What’s the matter?" Elijah’s tone was impatient; he hated being disturbed in the middle of the night.

A woman’s angry voice came from the other end of the phone, "I want to see you, now."

"Watch your tone, Haley," Elijah said sternly, "I am your king."

"It’s about Emily, don’t you want to know?" Haley sneered, "Where are you?"

Elijah, who had been on the verge of losing his temper, instantly softened at the mention of Emily.

"I’ll send you the address," Elijah said, then hung up.

Half an hour later, on a secluded path outside the Royal Villa, the leaves rustled gently in the breeze. Haley’s figure appeared, her steps hurried, her eyes full of mixed emotions. As soon as Haley saw Elijah standing under the tree, she immediately pulled out her cell phone and tossed it at his feet.

"Here you go, this phone is full of pictures of Emily," Haley’s voice was filled with anger, a thick vinegar coating her words, "I won’t stay quiet and be her maid anymore, I’m done."

Elijah ignored the phone at her feet as if it were an insignificant object. In the darkness of the night, he stood still, his eyes glinting with a cold light.

"You should know the consequences of disobeying orders," his tone was cold and commanding.

"At first, I didn’t understand why you wanted me to spy on Emily, but now I do. You like her, don’t you?" Haley glared at Elijah, "She’s Klaus’s Luna, she doesn’t belong to you. Imagine this woman you love sleeping in your enemy’s arms every night, imagine her moaning beneath his body..."

Before Haley could finish her sentence, Elijah slapped her across the face. She froze, her eyes fixed in disbelief on Elijah.

"You hit me for that woman? Elijah, I’m your own sister," Haley’s voice trembled, full of shock and resentment.

However, Elijah didn’t flinch at her words. He bared his wolf-like claws, and with lightning speed, he seized her by the throat. The sharp claws of the wolf pierced the skin of Haley’s neck, and blood trickled down, standing out against the moonlight.

"I could still kill you," Elijah’s voice was cold and unforgiving, like a demon from hell. There was no warmth in his eyes, only endless chill and majesty.

This time, Haley was finally frightened. Her body trembled slightly, and her eyes were wide with terror. "Please, don’t kill me," she pleaded to Elijah, her voice filled with despair.

"You know I hate it when people disobey my orders," Elijah’s tone remained icy.

"It’s my fault," Haley said, looking pained. "I won’t disobey your orders again. Please give me another chance." Her eyes were filled with remorse and entreaty.

"Remember, this is your last chance, Haley," Elijah finished, slowly releasing his hand. As he was about to turn away, Haley suddenly clutched at his thigh.

"Elijah, tell me, you don’t like that woman, do you?" Haley’s gaze was fixed on Elijah, eager for a negative response.

Elijah impatiently shrugged off Haley’s hand, glancing at her with disgust. "I told you long ago that Emily is part of the prophecy, which is why I allowed you to observe her."

"So you don’t really like her, do you?" Haley looked at Elijah hopefully, her eyes yearning for an answer. But Elijah did not give her the satisfaction she craved. He merely regarded her coldly.

"If you still wish to remain by my side, do as I say." With that, Elijah turned and left, indifferent to Haley’s plight.
