All The Female Disciples Want To Kill Me-Chapter 710 - 388: Without me, Wenren Pingxin, there would be no you today!_2
"PTUI, PTUI, PTUI!"
"You sly fox, what nonsensical drivel are you spouting? What's this about 'changing them daily because they're wet'?"
"I am his senior sister! Shouldn't I be concerned about him? Not one pleasant word ever comes from that filthy mouth of yours."
Yu Hongxiu arched an eyebrow, one hand on her slender waist, the other freed to slap Wenren Pingxin's pert bottom a few times fiercely. The slaps produced crisp sounds. Her beautiful eyes shimmered with an indescribable charm as she said, "You nasty woman, who are you calling a sly fox?"
"You lewd woman, with your wicked designs on your junior brother!"
Wenren Pingxin's body trembled violently. She clutched her backside, her brows furrowed in a glare at Yu Hongxiu, thoroughly incensed by her words.
She charged over and pounded on Yu Hongxiu's shoulder furiously, her cheeks flushed as hot as a ripe peach, retorting without showing any weakness, "Make yourself clear! Who are you calling a lewd woman?"
"Well, well! I've never seen you wear makeup before, have I? Ever since he woke up, you've been painting your face every day like a top courtesan from the brothels... Clearly, you're the jealous one, yet you try to slander me?"
...
Deep down, Wenren Pingxin felt genuinely wronged. She had known for quite some time about Yu Hongxiu's entanglement with Su Bei.
Watching her precious 'Bei Bei' being charmed away, all she could do was stand by and watch. She had accompanied Su Bei for centuries, practically raising him herself, yet her own feelings for him remained a confusing blur.
This 'fish' was from the Star Moon Sect. As a seductress, she could shamelessly disregard seniority and age, but could she, Wenren Pingxin, do the same?
She was from a reputable sect! If word got out that she'd climbed into the bed of the junior brother she had raised single-handedly... how would the world view her?
"Heh, I hail from courtesan origins, so what?" Yu Hongxiu declared, hands on her hips, her radiant face blooming into a smile that could topple kingdoms as she pointed at Wenren Pingxin's nose. "I dared to be a courtesan, yet which man under heaven would dare come to the Red Pavilion and choose me?"
The meticulously applied rouge on her lips shone brilliantly in the sunlight, as fiery and exceptionally vivid as a flame.
"Unlike some people, who boast of their reputable sect and feign modesty on the surface, while being secretly wanton."
"Staying up every night, clutching a pillow and crying out 'Bei Bei'..."
...
Fire instantly flared in Wenren Pingxin's eyes, her chest heaving tumultuously as she countered, "I'm telling you, sly fox, anything between you and Su Bei is impossible! I won't acknowledge it! As his senior sister, I have the right to oversee his marriage."
"As long as I draw breath, you two stand absolutely no chance!"
Yu Hongxiu's eyes widened slightly, her teeth practically itching with fury at those words. She forcefully swallowed her anger and mocked, "Oh, is that so? Wenren Pingxin, you still fancy becoming my mother-in-law?"
"If I'm lying in Su Bei's bed, whispering sweet nothings to him, do you think he'll be closer to me, or to you?"
"My dearest Senior Sister Wenren!"
...
Wenren Pingxin's intended retort died on her lips, stifled by Yu Hongxiu's blunt words. Fuming, she turned, her face livid with rage, and began to physically tussle with her, exclaiming, "Yu Hongxiu, you've got some nerve!"
"Back when you were being bullied by those harlots at the Red Pavilion, who was it that carried a sword through the night to get justice for you?"
"When you had disgraced yourself throughout all Twenty-One Provinces, who stood by your side without a single word of reproach?"
"Without me, Wenren Pingxin, the you of today wouldn't exist!"
...
Yu Hongxiu pushed her away, adjusting the bodice that had been tugged down, and stated nonchalantly, "Wenren Pingxin, since you're bringing up old scores, then I'm going to have a proper reckoning with you."
"Back then, your arrogance infuriated almost every sect disciple. When it was time to enter the secret realm, no one would team up with you. It was I who rejected requests from several direct disciples of other sects just to be on your team."
"And when you offended all the direct disciples of the Dao Sect, it was I who risked danger to bring you elixirs..."
Just as their quarrel was about to dredge up events from the annals of The Wilderness, a light cough echoed from behind. "If you want to fight, take it somewhere else. Don't dirty my courtyard."
...
Lin Jinyu paced slowly toward the two women, her tranquil, shimmering, turquoise phoenix eyes fixed on them.
Then, she gracefully settled onto a nearby stone bench, crossing her long, jade-like legs.
The two women exchanged a look, snorted coldly, and turned their backs on each other.
Watching this scene unfold, Lin Jinyu felt a headache coming on.
These two were like repelling poles of a magnet, clashing wherever they went. Yet, to say their relationship was bad wouldn't be accurate; they understood each other better than anyone.
What, then, were they arguing about?
Women understand women best. Especially with temperaments like theirs—neither willing to be subordinate and both liking to have the final say—it was difficult for them to become bosom buddies in the traditional sense.
And when she, who often acted as the peacemaker between them, wasn't around, it wasn't just once or twice that they'd ended up in unresolved disputes.
That's just how women are. Seeming harmony but actual discord is common; constant comparison is the reality.
You are the Sect Master of the Star Moon Sect, and I am the Sect Master of the Sword Sect. You were once the foremost figure of the younger generation, and so was I. And, as fate would have it, we both fell for the same man.
If you outdo me in one thing, I'll find a way to best you in another, always secretly competing. Yet, this doesn't prevent them from sitting together for tea and idle chat, joining forces to repel common foes, or jointly garrisoning the Northern Border Pass.
Women, no matter how far they advance, are such paradoxical creatures. But regardless of their open rivalries and hidden struggles, they are, at least, peers who share common enemies. That's how their relationship has endured.
Good allies, perhaps? Friends, even? Could they even be considered semi-confidantes?
—And yet, this didn't stop them from being able to form five cliques among six people...
Looking at the two, who had now calmed down, Lin Jinyu suddenly announced, "Ji Nanjue is awake."
This statement startled both women. They immediately forgot their quarrel, sprang to their feet, and stared at her in disbelief.
"What did you say? The Eastern Emperor is awake too?"
"Where did you get this news?"
Lin Jinyu's expression was somewhat complex as she replied softly, "I left the Nirvana Feather on her. I can sense her aura."
"If she has fully absorbed that feather, her cultivation level should now be close to 'that' level."
...
None present had a cultivation level below the Tribulation-Crossing Stage, so they naturally understood the 'level' she referred to.
Since the Blood Calamity, the Heavenly Dao had gradually perfected itself. Even so, in the past three hundred years, only two people from the Twenty-One Provinces had reached that level.
One was the South Emperor, and the other was Key Smoke.
"Isn't that a good thing?"
"Why do you look so troubled, Jin Yu?" Yu Hongxiu observed her demeanor with some confusion.
Su Bei had awakened, and so had Ji Nanjue. This should be an occasion for universal joy. Moreover, with Ji Nanjue's awakening and the full support of both the Sword Sect and the Star Moon Sect, it surely wouldn't take more than fifty years to end the current fragmented state of the Eastern Country and reunify it.
"You wouldn't understand..."
Lin Jinyu gazed somberly at the cup of tea before her, her heartbeat slightly erratic. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
She didn't know how she would face 'her' and 'him'.
No one else knew about the complex relationship between herself, Su Bei, and Ji Nanjue. If both of them appeared before her at the same time, how was she supposed to react? How could she face them?
Ji Nanjue knew that she had given herself to Su Bei. But Ji Nanjue was also his woman, and she and Ji Nanjue had maintained the so-called status of a married couple for centuries.
More importantly, she could feel Ji Nanjue's aura drawing closer and closer... She feared Ji Nanjue would appear before her any day now.
Lin Jinyu heaved a long sigh and turned, walking toward her room.
Seeing Lin Jinyu depart in such a distracted, preoccupied state, Wenren Pingxin and Yu Hongxiu exchanged glances. They smacked their lips, and Wenren Pingxin asked, "Why does she look like that? Shouldn't she be jumping for joy?"
"Who knows?" Yu Hongxiu licked her red lips, then suddenly said, "If you suddenly found out that the husband you'd lived with for hundreds of years was actually a woman, you'd probably react the same way. But it's been so long. Hasn't she moved on yet?"
Wenren Pingxin shook her head and remained silent.
