After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 307 - 110: Deadly Battle with the Dragon King_2
"The existence that controls the power of destiny has appeared?" The Witch of the Moon analyzed calmly, looking at the smiling Ahtal and said,
"Is it your teacher?" She was well-informed about Ahtal’s background, not only because of the songs of wandering poets but also due to specialized investigations from the Dragon Kingdom, which had thoroughly researched Ahtal’s abilities and personal connections.
So she knew that Ahtal had a teacher who controlled the trajectories of all destinies. If Ahtal’s teacher had successfully completed the ritual and became a Witch of Destiny, then everything would make sense.
"What if I said it was?" Xi Mu responded with a smile, causing the atmosphere in the room to instantly stiffen. Both the White Dragon King and the Negation Demon showed serious expressions at that moment, and their attitudes towards Ahtal shifted.
In the past, Ahtal was merely... a follower of the Witch of Death. That wasn’t very significant; one could only say that Ahtal was captivating enough to attract the Witch of Death’s attention.
There were many cases like this genius throughout history.
Because of their extraordinary talents, they attracted the attention of gods or demons. But that was just attraction, not representation of gods or demons.
However, if Ahtal’s teacher was the Destiny Witch, then the situation was completely different. It meant Ahtal had the backing of a Witch who adored him and controlled the power of destiny behind him.
The weight of this was entirely different.
"If your teacher is the Destiny Witch, it could explain why you were able to grow so successfully," the White Dragon King said with a softened expression, showing more favor towards Ahtal and no longer treating him as a poor boy who was courting his daughter.
Even though the poor boy had great potential, it was just that—potential. No one knew whether Ahtal could successfully become a demon, as so many geniuses throughout history had stumbled at the last step and had not broken through the limits of humanity.
However, having the Destiny Witch behind him was completely different. Not to mention the uniqueness of the authority of destiny, at least it could be confirmed that Ahtal was someone with a profound background.
"If your teacher is truly the Destiny Witch, let me see her," the Witch of the Moon spoke, only to see Xi Mu turn his head slightly with an obviously sheepish expression.
He then coughed lightly.
"Join us, and I will summon my teacher right away to meet with you."
"You first summon," the Witch of the Moon replied flatly, "We’ll talk directly with your teacher. It’s more efficient that way."
Xi Mu remained silent.
"Kid, you don’t actually have the Destiny Witch as a teacher, do you?" The White Dragon King showed a skeptical look.
To this, Xi Mu only repeated one sentence:
"Join us, and I will immediately summon my teacher."
"Since you are not willing to summon the Destiny Witch, we’ll assume you wish to bargain with us," the Witch of the Moon said, still with an unchanging expression, standing up with her hands on the table, "Then I need to confirm your worth, see if it’s sufficient for negotiation with us."
Her tone was as cold as the freezing moon.
"If one is not careful, death is possible."
"Agreed," Xi Mu replied with a smile, following the Witch of the Moon out of the room. Seeing this, the Negation Demon laughed softly, and his figure also vanished on the spot.
"Father," the White-haired Lolita tugged at the White Dragon King’s sleeve, intending to plead with him to help Ahtal.
And yet.
"Don’t worry, the Witch of the Moon has no hostility," the White Dragon King said, patting the White-haired Lolita’s head as he explained,
"Since Hecate is very protective of her disciple, if Ahtal is in danger, she will definitely be unable to restrain herself from coming out to protect him."
He revealed a smile.
"The so-called verification by the Witch of the Moon of Ahtal’s worthiness is nothing but a probe to see if the Destiny Witch is really behind him."
"If the Destiny Witch exists, they will have to change their attitude."
The White-haired Lolita pursed her lips worriedly, "But what if something happens to Ahtal?"
"With the Negation Demon watching, nothing will happen," the White Dragon King reassured, "Even if he suffers a fatal injury, there is still a chance for recovery."
With this, he stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"However, I really can’t understand Ahtal’s actions. If he wanted to hide the fact that his teacher is the Destiny Witch, then he shouldn’t be deliberately discussing fate constantly, allowing the Witch of the Moon to guess it,"
"And if he meant for the Witch of the Moon to guess it, then why wouldn’t he summon the Destiny Witch to appear? Instead, he’s putting himself into a dangerous situation,"
"He really is someone I can’t figure out."
White-haired Lolita thought for a moment and said, "Ahtal must have some deeper reason for doing this, one that perhaps we haven’t understood."
She believed this firmly.
"That man is doing this, he must have a profound intention."
"Haha... Maybe," laughed the White Dragon King, lifting his hand to rub his daughter’s little head, taking White-haired Lolita with him to witness Ahtal’s battle.
"But it’s also possible that Ahtal has just bitten off more than he can chew."
"No, Ahtal must have a profound intention!" The dialogue between father and daughter drifted in from outside, no different from a typical father-daughter conversation.
Meanwhile.
On the other side.
In a vast dueling arena.
Xi Mu looked around and saw dragon souls lying on the spectator seats of the dueling arena. The arena was so huge it was not suitable for humans to duel in.
It was meant for dragons to duel. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Ahtal, you still have the chance to back out," the Negation Demon said standing opposite Ahtal, holding a staff in one hand and tapping it on the ground, while his monocle reflected Ahtal’s image, "What you will face next is the departed... Dragon King, an existence not within human power to contend against."
Many powerful beings are buried in the Dragon’s Tomb, which naturally includes the past Dragon Kings, and the Dragon King represents the strongest among dragons.
This was an existence beyond human limits to cope with.
"To surpass human limits is not a new experience for me," Xi Mu responded, pulling out the Great Sword of Death and stabbing it into the ground, "Moreover, I’m quite excited
by the idea of fighting the Dragon King, just the thought of battling with the Dragon King gets me... excited."
He questioned the elegant man before him.
"Negation Demon, do you enjoy fighting?"
"If the fight is unnecessary, I don’t enjoy it," Negation Demon replied, and then he added:
"But for now, I understand your choice." With that, he turned and vanished from the spot, no longer trying to persuade Ahtal.
Now he understood why Ahtal was willing to accept the trial, risking death to fight the Dragon King.
That man was craving to draw nourishment from battle.
Wind whisked over the ancient dueling ground, lifting the dust from the ground, fluttering Ahtal’s cloak as he looked up at the sky filled with thunderclouds, knowing a formidable Dragon King was about to appear, theoretically an enemy he should not be facing at his current level.
With that thought, he pulled out a bottle of Magic Potion and vigorously gulped it down, his fingertips and pupils began to beastify, and his body started to emit high temperatures, like burning coal.
His momentum was rising rapidly and becoming more... frenzied.
"Boom!" A red thunderbolt struck, exploding beside Xi Mu, leaving a deep crater in the stony ground.
Then the thunderstorm broke.
The dueling arena was nearly cleansed by the downpour, and as the red thunder swallowed everything, a giant dragon descended from the sky, lunging at Ahtal with claws of lightning, swiping down at him.
"Boom!" The fierce wind mixed with thunder, leaving three gashes on the ground, and the enormous dragon’s body crashed down as well, like a runaway train sliding across the ground for a distance.
The Dragon King turned his head, looking in Ahtal’s direction, to find the human standing unscathed still smiling wickedly at him, flames spilling from between his teeth.
Their gazes met.
Then, without hesitation, they both exhaled Dragon Breath, the raging flames colliding with the brutal thunder, exploding into a blinding white light that engulfed everything.
