After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 306 - 110: Deadly Battle with the Dragon King
"Evelyn, have you considered living in the Dragon Tomb?" the Negation Demon asked, sitting in a chair with his fingers interlaced, addressing the White-haired Lolita across the table, "In the outer world, you will be constantly corrected by the world, rapidly approaching death."
The White-haired Lolita was puzzled: "Corrected by the world?"
"Yes," the Negation Demon answered, "I negate your death, which is against the order of life and death set by the God of Omniscience."
The White-haired Lolita fell into silence.
She certainly did not want to stay in the gloomy Dragon Tomb, although being buried there is something the normal Dragon Clan longs for.
But she still yearned for the splendors of the outside world.
"Don’t look so conflicted." The Negation Demon smiled, lowering his crossed arms, giving the White-haired Lolita a gentle smile, "Didn’t that man say he would reclaim your soul from Hell?"
He rose, leaning on the chair’s armrests.
"Come on, your father should be here to see you now."
"Dad is here?" The White-haired Lolita exclaimed, standing up and following the Negation Demon out of the room.
Shortly after.
"Thud!" A muffled bang resonated from outside the door, and as the Negation Demon and the White-haired Lolita entered the room, they saw a white-haired, stout man banging his finger on the hard wooden table.
"Human, I will not agree to you being with Evelyn!"
"Huh?" Evelyn looked puzzled, staring at her father, whose face had turned so red and angry that he looked like a demon, her intelligent little mind briefly stalling, not quite understanding the strange words her father was saying.
However, seeing Ahtal quietly drinking coffee, she immediately understood why.
"Please don’t shout so loudly." Xi Mu set down his coffee cup, looking at the White Dragon King whose hair stood on end from anger, and lightly chuckled,
"Besides, I am currently the only known person who might be able to bring back Evelyn’s soul. Is it inappropriate for me to be together with Evelyn?"
White Dragon King: "..."
If not for knowing that Ahtal was connected to the Witch of Death, and might actually go to Hell in the future, he would have knocked this damn human out with a fist, instead of being furiously helpless against Ahtal.
"How about this instead?" the Witch of the Moon suggested softly, "You could have a duel, and whoever wins gets to take Evelyn?"
"I don’t think that’s a good idea." the White-haired Lolita said expressionlessly, blocking her father, then in the midst of the White Dragon King’s surprised expression.
"Father, please don’t make it difficult for Ahtal."
The White Dragon King’s expression froze.
This was not quite what he had expected; why would his darling little daughter stand so unabashedly on Ahtal’s side?
But the White-haired Lolita ignored her father, turning her head to look at the calm, coffee-drinking Ahtal, and said:
"Lord Ahtal, please don’t provoke my father with your words."
"Am I not allowed to speak the truth then?" Xi Mu put down his coffee cup, smiling at the White-haired Lolita, "I truly do want to be with you."
The atmosphere turned tense.
The White-haired Lolita was briefly stunned, then her cheeks blushed red, her head seemingly steaming, her usually intelligent mind momentarily crashing, unable to speak.
The White Dragon King, watching his daughter’s red cheeks, couldn’t help but twitch his mouth.
How exactly did this damnable human managed to win his daughter’s affection to such a degree? He could clearly sense that his daughter harbored considerable fondness for Ahtal, with hardly any resistance.
"Human, what exactly are you doing in the Dragon Tomb?" He decided to shift the topic, to keep Ahtal from further wooing his daughter.
Otherwise, they might actually end up talking about marriage.
"I’m obviously here to win over the witches and demons." Xi Mu seemed genuinely distracted, his fingers interlaced, resting his elbows on the table, "Now, since the Witch of Death has officially declared war on All Gods, we need enough allies to support us."
"The Witch of Death’s chances aren’t looking good." the White Dragon King waved dismissively, his response not due to any prejudice against Ahtal but purely from a pragmatic standpoint.
Despite the Witch of Death’s strength, the notion of seizing control of this world was implausible. Even if the Witch of Death could survive a collective assassination by All Gods, she would not be able to face both the Goddess of Death and the Goddess of Life simultaneously.
In response, Xi Mu rolled his eyes:
"I didn’t invite you to join; I invited the witches and demons." He glanced at the Witch of the Moon next to him, yawning lazily, then looked at the Negation Demon nearby, wearing a monocle.
"But they are allies of the Dragon Clan." the White Dragon King crossed his arms, "As an ally proposing a reference opinion, is there a problem?"
"Just a reference opinion then." Xi Mu smiled calmly, picked up the teapot on the table, and poured a cup of tea for the Witch of the Moon sitting next to him.
"Joining you isn’t an issue." the Witch of the Moon said languidly, making eye contact with Ahtal, "But I’d like to know how you came to know of our existence and how you foresaw our destinies?"
"As for that, you could ask the Witch of Death." Xi Mu bluffing seriously, "In regards to your destinies, it was the Witch of Death who informed me."
Lying.
The White-haired Lolita casually turned her head to hide her expression, her stereotype of Ahtal deepening, the man lied effortlessly, betraying not a hint of guilt, truly an intriguer intent on overturning the world.
She had, through her own insights, realized that demons were behind the Dragon Kingdom. But now, it turned out that the Witch of Death had arranged everything.
