Chapter 103: Chapter 17 Asura

"Boom!" An afterimage tore through the air and collided with the wall of a derelict building. The werewolf leader grimaced in pain—he propped himself up on his broadsword with one hand and clutched his abdomen with the other, barely managing to stand before immediately spitting out a mouthful of blood.

"There’s something off about that horse," he muttered, wiping the blood from his mouth and eying the eight-legged horse in the middle of the battlefield, his brows unconsciously furrowing.

But he soon abandoned any attempt to figure it out, taking out a vial of healing magic potion and guzzling it down. He followed it up with several bottles of strength-enhancing magic potion.

Then, with a fierce push from his legs, he leaped into the air, spinning once, and brought his broadsword slashing down.

Lion Slash!

"Bang!" As if he had anticipated the move, the silver-armored knight intercepted it with his broadsword, which was ablaze with black flames. Then, he caught sight of the knight’s eyes.

Fervent... no, it was madness, sheer madness. No longer black, the knight’s eyes had turned a fiery red, as though intending to burn the world to ashes.

"Don’t rush; you’ll all die!" The contemptible voice rang out as the knight, gripping a spiraling sword in his other hand, followed through with a sweeping blow. The red flames illuminated the gloomy depths of the dungeon, slicing towards the werewolf leader’s shoulder.

The blood that splattered turned into flames midair.

"Chief, watch out!" A minotaur wielding a scimitar charged forward, embracing the injured werewolf leader with his body, and used his own back to block the knight’s ensuing strike.

No hesitation, the minotaur fled the battlefield with the hurt werewolf leader in tow, not daring to pause for even a moment.

Xi Mu ignored the fleeing werewolf leader, as killing so many of the werewolf’s brethren meant the leader wouldn’t let it go easily and would inevitably come to him after some time.

What he needed now was to kill every last "experience bag" before him.

"Hahahaha!!!" The knight, wielding dual swords and laughing manically, moved through the besieging army like a blazing coal, his presence bringing a storm of blood and gore. Those struck by his blade were doomed; they either turned into black torches or red ones, screaming as they were reduced to ashes.

Monster... no, a demon was more like it.

"Does your boss really worship the Goddess of Life?" The Ghostly Queen, while fending off the attacking mercenaries with her ghosts, watched Xi Mu turning the mercenaries into torches on the battlefield, and couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe he was a devotee of the Evil God.

But that man did indeed have the favor of the Goddess of Life.

"As unbelievable as it might sound, the boss does have the favor of the Goddess of Life," Jed said, deftly avoiding an attack from a rat-head mercenary and counterattacking with her broken sword, slashing the mercenary’s throat.

Back to back with the Ghostly Queen, she explained:

"However, the boss is infected with Sulter’s fire. Using Sulter’s fire causes drastic changes in temperament, making him utterly ruthless in killing."

"That’s a shame," the Ghostly Queen responded upon hearing this, immediately grasping the situation and feeling pity for the silver-armored knight.

To be infected with Sulter’s fire was basically a death sentence.

"If the Creation Witch was still around, maybe we could’ve begged for the Witch’s grace," she added.

With the Creation Witch’s power, it was possible to interfere with any life, which naturally included... the life entity that is the world itself.

Giving the knight a new lease on life would have been simple.

"The Creation Witch is long dead; stop bringing her up!" Jed grimaced, watching more mercenaries charge at them.

"Can you protect me a little better?"

"I understand, rest easy," the Ghostly Queen consoled her, directing her ghosts to weave through the attacking soldiers.

In the brief moments they lost control of their bodies, she used her magic bullets to pierce through their skulls.

Though she was weaker now, protecting Jed wasn’t difficult; after all, she wasn’t afraid of death and only had to ensure the human’s safety.

The rest could be left to the frenzied silver-armored knight.

"Partner, you’re amazing!" Laughter echoed across the battlefield as Xi Mu cleaved an oncoming grunt in two. The emblem of death’s flame spread from the wound, burning the attacker to ash.

At that moment,

a spear pierced through the air towards Xi Mu, who casually swatted it away. Then, a man with green hair, wielding two daggers, charged at him, his punchable face voicing a taunt.

"You petty knight, don’t get too cocky!" His voice was deliberately shrill and annoying, matching his irritating and unattractive face, naturally prompting a sense of revulsion.

That was his way of fighting. Any killing intent or disgust directed towards him could be turned into backlash damage.

The weaker the enemy, the stronger the effect, and the stronger the enemy, the more capable they were of withstanding the backlash.

If someone mastered their Stellar Orbital Trajectory, his abilities would be utterly useless.

And this knight on the horse, with a magic power far inferior to his own, was the perfect target for full exploitation of his abilities.

Or so it should have been.

However, the knight who turned his indifferent gaze upon him made him feel cold; indeed, there was a hint of antipathy, but no consideration at all.

No different from how he regarded the average soldier.

Impartial to all.

The black-flame sword swept by, and the green-haired man was beheaded, his corpse continuing its motionless charge.

The knight rode past the green-haired man without a second glance, focusing instead on turning every approaching soldier into a blazing torch, reaping experience points.
