After Rebirth, I Took Revenge On My Scumbag Ex-Alpha Mate!-Chapter 20: Burning Hatred!
KALIA
"You stupid child!" My father snatched the phone from my hands before I could pass a message across to Darren and hit me on the face.
I lost my footing and fell to the ground, taking the vase on my desk along with me as it broke into a million tiny pieces the minute we both hit the ground, some of its pieces cutting into my skin in the process.
"How dare you call the Alpha’s son to complain about me? How dare you insult me like that in my own home!?" He yelled at me.
After my altercation with my family minutes ago, my father had resulted to beating me up because according to him, I had spoken ill of my stepmother and abused her in his house.
He was angry that I had thrown myself at Darren and that my decision had pushed Celyn to tears knowing that she wanted him and ruined his reputation amongst the other packs.
He beat and hit me countless times till I went numb and couldn’t feel my body anymore, so I laid down sprawled on the floor in a fetal position.
"You’ll stay locked up here in this room until you learn some manners young lady."
"I’ve been too soft on you and now, I won’t let you continue to drag my name through the mud, you bastard child." He warned me sternly with glaring eyes before walking out of my bedroom.
I managed to find my footing and ran to the door but he had bolted it shut and locked it from outside so that i wouldn’t be able to get out.
"Open this fucking door! Let me out of here!" I yelled at the top of my voice, banging at the door to my bedroom frantically and with all my might.
I knew that they could hear me but they simply chose to ignore all my incessant pleas as they fell on deaf ears.
"No one should feed her or give her a single drop of water until she comes back to her senses and calls off this relationship." I overheard him yelling at the maids.
"If anyone so much as gives her a crumb of bread then that person would die by my hands." He added with a thunderous voice that shook the building all the way to my bedroom.
"Let me go!" My voice cracked. I was almost on the verge of breaking down in tears despite how badly I wanted not to.
I wasn’t able to inform Darren about what was happening so I don’t even know if he must have heard me or gotten my message at least.
He’s the only one who could help me out of here and if he doesn’t show up then I’m doomed.
"You want to get married to Darren right? Let’s see how you achieve stupid that plan of yours from inside there." He mocked and I fell down to the ground.
The left side of my cheek where he had slapped me stung painfully but it wasn’t as bad as how painful my condition was at the moment.
"Please open up this door." I begged, hoping and waiting for some kind of miracle to happen or maybe a change of heart perhaps.
I still don’t understand what I had done wrong to my family to deserve this. Why do they keep treating me like trash? Why was I even born if I was going to end up in this unfortunate house in the first place?
Why couldn’t I just experience happiness for once in my life? Was I only born to experience all the bad and cruel things of life?
Why couldn’t things turn out better for me? What is wrong with me. Am I cursed? Why me of all people? Did I really struggle so much in my previous life only to continue living like this again?
I placed my head between the hollow space of my thighs and sobbed. I was emotionally and physically drained.
I am stretched out beyond my limits and I don’t know how long I was going to hold on. With every fleeting minute that passed, my hatred for them only burned even more.
"KALIA!" Someone called out to me. The voice was faraway but I could still hear it as it got closer.
"Lia?" The persistent voice came again. I whipped my head away from my thighs to listen to whoever was calling out to me.
"Kalia!" The voice came for the third time and I rushed to my feet as I wiped my tears aggressively from my eyes. It was Darren.
"D-Darren?" I called out in a small voice and resumed hitting the door as loud as I could.
"Over here, Darren. I’m locked in here." I called out to him and just then, I heard running footsteps approaching my bedroom door. It stopped just outside my room and I placed my ears closer to listen.
"Open the door." I heard Darren order in a stern voice to whoever was out there with him. His voice sounded calm yet annoyed and quite agitated.
"My Lord, you shouldn’t concern yourself with family matters like these." It was my father speaking this time around. "I assure you yhat it will be sorted out amongst ourselves."
"My daughter must’ve made a terrible mistake by coming over to your house and possibly blackmailing you to get married to her but I’m here to assure you that I’m only taking precautionary steps to discipline her and put her in her place."
"And who asked you to do that?" Came Darren’s compelling voice as he spoke back to my father.
"What?" My father blurted out in disbelief. "But My Lord she—"
"I brought her here by myself this morning." He reminded them. "Did you think that if I wanted her punished then I would drive her all the way down here? Who gave you that right to hit her in the first place?"
"She’s only using you my son." My father spoke, trying to convince him. "She is a gold digger that is trying to make a name for herself by scamming unsuspecting victims like you."
"My father is right!" Celyn chimed in. "I don’t know what she must’ve told you but she did the same to your stepbrother too and then tried to accuse him of cheating on her."
"She’s not a good person and she’s definitely not worth saving Darren, believe me." She added more accusations to the already burning fire that they had lit against me.
"She might be my stepsister but trust me, you can do a whole lot better than being with someone like her."
