After Rebirth, I Took Revenge On My Scumbag Ex-Alpha Mate!-Chapter 21: He Came For Me
KALIA
I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry at Celyn’s words. They were so quick to try and defame me without thinking about me or my feelings at all. What a splendid family that I was raised in.
And to think that all these years, I struggled to be the perfect daughter to make them like and accept me when clearly, they harbored such strong feelings against me.
"Listen to my daughter, my son." My stepmother spoke this time around. "It’ll do you a whole lot of good if you don’t get involved with this one I can assure you."
"She’s useless and will only bring you terrible luck for the rest of your lives." She continued but Darren kept silent all through their rants and efforts to convince him about me.
"We will teach her a lesson and make sure that she never gets to hurt anybody ever again."
I heard him sigh before speaking. "I won’t repeat myself for the second time. Open this door now that I’m being so nice about it."
"My Lord—" My father started but was rudely interrupted.
"Do you think that you would get away by defying the Alpha’s only heir?" Darren asked him.
"The firstborn son of Alpha Alexander Zade who is to rule the Crescent Pack after him?" He went on but only silence met his question.
"I understand My Lord—"
"I don’t think you do." He cut him off. "Because if you did even in the slightest, then you would’ve opened that door the first time I asked you to do so. You wouldn’t let me repeat myself for the second time."
There was deep silence followed by a rattling sound of keys. The door pushed open and Darren ran in almost immediately.
"Kalia." His eyes widened in shock as he took in the state of my distress. Without saying another word, he pushed past the pile of broken vase and made his way towards me.
"Darren the broken glass—" I was saying but my words are cut short when he pulled me into an embrace.
His hands running up and down the small of my back as he whispered soothing words to me to calm me down.
"I’m sorry that I didn’t get here sooner." He apologized, triggering the fresh tears that fell from my eyes.
He pulled away, his hands holding both sides of my face, gripping tightly. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt?"
Before I could respond, he hugged me again.
"I should’ve been here sooner. I’m so sorry Kalia." He went on to say, forcing me to break down continuously.
I melted into his arms as I cried my eyes out. I couldn’t stop the tears so I just let them flow freely at this point.
He came for me. I didn’t think he’d come considering the fact that Kate had told me that he was always busy to give a fuck about anything but he did.
Kate had told me that he was a workaholic that took his job seriously.
She told me that he was very self centered and self absorbed and doesn’t care about anyone but himself so it was a bit surprising to know that he still came regardless.
No one except Kate, had ever come for me in my entire life when I was having problems so it felt nice to know that I had him on my side now.
He pulled away from me and grabbed my hands before leading me outside the bedroom. "You’re coming home with me. I won’t let you stay here for another second."
"You can’t leave with her, Sir. She is not of your status and you have no business getting involved in this."
"Your brother was engaged to be married to her not too long ago. What would people say?" My father questioned in a bid to stop him but he didn’t.
Instead, he held onto my hands a little tighter. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
My stepmother and Celyn chose that exact moment to join us, blocking our path and the look on their faces told me that they weren’t happy with the recent development.
If eyes could kill, I probably would’ve been dead by now. I could almost tell what’s running through their minds right now as they stood there, glaring at us.
There was nothing but anger written all over their faces right now. They weren’t happy and although I was still writhing in pain, it made me extremely happy to see them this way.
"Don’t dent your image by getting involved with this child my lord. She’s not worth it." He went on. "She will make your life unbearable and—"
"And yet to think she’s supposed to be your own daughter." Darren retorted.
"Not once in my entire life have I ever seen a father speak so lowly of his own daughter that he raised to the point of inflicting wounds on her because he deems her unworthy of his own love. I feel ashamed, Alpha Arnold."
"To tell you the truth, I don’t care what people would say. I have never cared about their opinions and I definitely wouldn’t start now." He answered.
"Until our marriage rites is finalized between both families, my wife to-be would be living with me. Feel free to visit us whenever you have the time to do so."
Walking past them, we made our way outside the mansion towards the parked car at the entrance. Just as I was about to get in, Callum’s car drove in at the exact same time.
I guess that they must’ve called him which was why he rushed down here but yet, he couldn’t do so for me whenever I needed him. Talk about double standards.
I waited for him to get off so that I would see his face as he watches me leave with his brother.
He parked and stepped out from his car, coming face to face with Darren and I but before he could process anything going on, I got into the car and Darren slammed the door after me before joining me over at the other side.
We drove away knowing that my presence would give him a lot to think about and a lot of questions to ask himself and I am ready to watch it all unfold.
