After Rebirth, I Accept The Arranged Marriage-Chapter 83: The Morning After
She mulled it over for a moment and suddenly felt she had nothing to be ashamed of. ’After what Victor Morgan did to me last night, I should be the one holding all the cards!’
"Hear what?" As Victor Morgan walked over, he poured Jessie Sterling a glass of warm water.
Her voice sounded a little hoarse.
Jessie: "...Nothing." ’Since Victor looks like he didn’t hear anything, I’m certainly not going to give myself away.’
Victor Morgan sat on the edge of the bed and lifted a corner of the blanket.
Seeing his action, Jessie Sterling’s expression immediately grew wary.
"What do you think you’re doing?" Jessie reached out and held down the corner of the blanket. Without waiting for Victor to answer, she rattled on, "Victor Morgan! I’m still sore! How can you still be like this!"
Her eyes were filled with utter disbelief.
’Besides, I haven’t even eaten yet!’
’How does Victor have so much energy!’
’Even a workhorse needs to take a breather, okay?’
Hearing her words, Victor Morgan froze.
Victor sounded a little exasperated. "I’m just going to take a look. I’m not going to do anything."
Jessie still eyed him with suspicion.
’Being stared at like that made Victor a little uncomfortable. He couldn’t help but wonder if he’d gone too far last night, to the point where Jessie didn’t trust him now.’
But thinking back to the day before, Victor did feel a pang of guilt.
’He had lost control.’
’When it came to Jessie, his self-control seemed to vanish, turning him into someone he wasn’t.’
’Greedy, insatiable, lost in the moment.’
’These were traits he’d never possessed before.’
"...We were a bit too frequent yesterday. You might be chafed, so I applied some ointment," Victor said in a low voice, as if trying to soothe her.
But his words clearly failed to soothe the woman on the bed. On the contrary, Jessie instantly bristled.
"Chafed!?" Jessie’s eyes flew wide. The moment she shifted, she felt a twinge of pain from below, but it seemed there was something else there besides just the pain.
Seeing Jessie getting agitated, Victor glanced at his hand, which she was holding down through the blanket. In the blink of an eye, he flipped his palm over, catching her hand in his.
His thumb stroked gently across the back of her hand as he said soothingly, "Don’t worry. I already put some ointment on for you before you fell asleep last night."
Jessie: "...?!"
’She understood every word Victor said, so how come she couldn’t comprehend them when they were put together in a sentence?’
In an instant, Jessie, still under the covers, felt her entire body flush crimson.
She froze for a few seconds. Once the realization hit, she quickly tried to yank her hand from Victor’s grasp.
"You..." Jessie wanted to call him a pervert, but before the word could escape her lips, she choked and coughed twice.
Victor, for his part, seemed quite considerate. As Jessie choked, he leaned over to pat her back. "Are you all right?"
Jessie: "..."
’All right? Nothing is all right!’
’I’m not all right at all!’
Jessie’s face was crimson. She pushed Victor away and asked through gritted teeth, "And you applied ointment to me?"
’Was she supposed to praise him for it?’
Oblivious to her anger, Victor nodded. "I checked. There was no tearing, just some redness and swelling. It was probably just a bit too much friction."
Jessie: "...Just shut up!"
As she spoke, she reached out and clapped a hand over his mouth.
’How could he say these things so calmly?’
The corners of Jessie’s eyes were turning red.
Victor: "..."
He looked at the woman on the pillow, and with his free hand, easily pinned both of her hands above her head.
"Let me go!" Jessie cried out, uncomfortable. ’This position is so humiliating! I feel like a fish on a chopping block.’
Victor: "Let me take a look first. Don’t move."
As he spoke, Victor’s hand was already pulling back the blanket.
A moment later, Jessie had burrowed completely under the covers, turning her back to Victor in a clear refusal to communicate.
Victor wiped his fingers with a tissue, set the ointment aside, and looked at Jessie’s sulking back. He felt a headache coming on, but mostly, he just felt resigned.
He cleared his throat. "It’s fine now..."
After a full night, the area was only a little red and looked much better. That’s why he had just applied a bit more ointment for her.
It was just that Jessie’s reaction during the application had been a bit... dramatic.
She had nearly kicked him in the face.
"What do you mean, ’fine’?!" Jessie sounded like she was speaking through a mouthful of blanket, her face flushed and the corners of her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I’m *not* fine!"
Her little temper tantrum left Victor at a loss for what to do.
Victor sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to stroke the back of her head, but Jessie clearly wasn’t having it. The moment his fingers brushed against her hair, she ducked her head and burrowed deeper into the blanket.
"...I just took a look, I didn’t do anything else. It would be bad if it got infected."
"It’s still your fault!" Jessie’s muffled voice came from under the covers.
Victor: "Yes, it’s my fault. I’m sorry."
He admitted his fault readily enough.
Jessie: "It’s all your fault."
"Okay. Then how do you want to take it out on me?" Victor asked good-naturedly.
Jessie: "..."
The question stumped her. She hadn’t actually thought about it.
Victor saw a head finally poke out from the little mound of blankets, though she still kept the back of it turned to him.
"You can take your time to think about it," Victor said. "What would you like to eat? I’ll have the kitchen prepare it."
Jessie whipped her head around. "Why should the kitchen staff cook?! I want seafood risotto!" She stared into Victor’s eyes, adding resentfully, "And *you’re* going to make it!" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
’That ought to teach him a lesson,’ Jessie thought.
Victor didn’t seem to mind being ordered around at all. Hearing her request, he simply nodded. "All right. Anything else?"
Jessie: "...I also want barbecue, spicy ribs, spicy shrimp, and I want milk tea."
"Okay." Victor nodded.
He stood by the bed for a moment longer, and after making sure Jessie had no other demands, he turned and left the room.
The moment Victor’s figure vanished from sight, Jessie shot out from under the covers.
She’d been needing to use the bathroom for a while.
The master bathroom was quite spacious. While it couldn’t compare to the one back home, for a ship, it was incredibly luxurious. It was even large enough to fit a two-person jacuzzi.
However, as soon as Jessie walked into the bathroom and looked up, she froze.
