After Prison I Rushed into Marriage with a Comatose Tycoon-Chapter 46: The Daughter-in-Law Is Settled Just Like That?
Eliza twisted her wrist, throwing Amelia to the ground.
The moment she hit the solid floor, Amelia finally let out a long sigh of relief. She clutched her wildly pounding heart, her body still trembling uncontrollably.
Just a moment ago, she had truly believed Eliza was going to push her from the second floor.
The thought of how Eliza had dared to treat her made Amelia want to tear her to shreds.
"Amelia, I don’t like the way you’re looking at your big sister. It might give me the wrong idea, like you have a problem with me."
"No, no," Amelia said, waving her hands and quickly forcing an ingratiating smile.
"Yes, just like that." Eliza patted Amelia’s cheek, her eyes crinkling into a smile. "Such a lovely smile. Keep it up."
Eliza didn’t linger and left.
As she went downstairs, she saw Mae Sheffield rushing over in a hurry.
Eliza nodded at her and left.
Mae Sheffield hurried upstairs to find her precious daughter sitting on the floor. She immediately rushed over to help her up. "Amelia, what happened to you?"
"Eliza... It was Eliza! She just tried to push me off!"
"What?" Mae Sheffield’s expression changed. "Has Eliza lost her mind again?"
"Who... Who knows?"
Mae Sheffield noticed Amelia’s evasive gaze. She frowned and asked in a stern voice, "Tell me. What exactly happened?"
"It’s... It’s nothing, really. I just... hired someone to kidnap Eliza."
Amelia stammered her way through the story.
Mae Sheffield looked like she was about to lose her mind. She jabbed her daughter’s forehead. "What is wrong with you? Kidnapping Eliza is one thing, but to leave her with this kind of leverage? Now she’ll have you wrapped around her little finger!"
Amelia felt a pang of regret. "It’s just that Eliza was going too far. It hurt me to see how she wronged you."
A flicker of warmth spread through Mae Sheffield’s heart at Amelia’s words. "There might be another way to handle this."
Amelia’s eyes instantly lit up. "What is it?"
"If Eliza offends someone she can’t afford to cross, she’ll be too busy saving her own skin to bother you. That will buy us enough time to destroy whatever evidence she has."
Amelia’s eyes slowly began to brighten.
People’s Hospital.
VIP Ward.
A middle-aged man in a sharp suit scrambled into the room. "Dad! How are you?"
"I’m fine. I was lucky my granddaughter-in-law happened to pass by and save me. She’s as kind-hearted as she is beautiful." The old man’s face was filled with fondness and relief.
If Eliza had been there, she would have recognized the speaker as the old man she had saved on the street earlier.
Chairman Willow was utterly baffled. "Grand... Granddaughter-in-law?"
He only had one son, and he wasn’t married yet.
As if a thought struck him, Chairman Willow shot a fierce glare at his son, who was sitting to the side playing a game on his phone. He slapped him across the back of the head and roared, "You worthless brat! What did you do now?"
Ivan Willow was completely dumbfounded. "What did I do? I’m just here keeping Grandpa company and playing a game!"
’The worst I’ve done is spend a little money in-game and flirt with some girls. What else is there?’
"Answer me! Are you my only son?!"
"Yeah. Mom says I am."
"So you admit it, and you still dare to play dumb!" He slapped him again.
Ivan was so aggrieved he was on the verge of tears. "Admit? What did I admit to?" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Out with it. Which family’s daughter did you get into trouble with this time, for it to reach your grandfather?" Chairman Willow said through clenched teeth. "Your grandfather said his granddaughter-in-law saved him today!"
"Grandpa, when have I ever brought a girl home for you to meet? You have to explain to my dad before he beats me to death!"
Master Willow said, "Oh, it’s not Ivan’s fault this time. He hasn’t met her yet, either. The moment she saved me, I knew she was the one. She has to be the Willow family’s granddaughter-in-law."
Ivan Willow was speechless. "..."
Chairman Willow asked, "Which family’s daughter has earned such high praise from you?"
"I forgot to ask for her name," Master Willow said, annoyed with himself.
Eliza had told him she was already married with two sons, but Master Willow was convinced it was just an excuse. She looked far too young to be married.
Chairman Willow was speechless. "..."
Ivan couldn’t resist complaining, "Grandpa, are you really going to be this careless with something as important as my marriage? I’m hurt."
Chairman Willow suggested tactfully, "Dad, perhaps we should let the two of them get to know each other first before we discuss anything else?"
"No need. My judgment is flawless. She is my granddaughter-in-law, and I won’t accept anyone else." Master Willow shot a look at the father-son duo and huffed. "Don’t you dare think I’m being rash. I may not know her family background, but one look at her bearing tells you she’s no ordinary person. More importantly, she’s exceptionally skilled."
Master Willow then recounted the details of his medical episode.
Chairman Willow’s heart pounded with fear as he listened. He had come so close to losing his father today.
"But my granddaughter-in-law saved me with just a few Silver Needles. She even knocked me unconscious with one because she said I was being too chatty," Master Willow said.
He lifted his chin slightly, looking exceptionally proud.
Then, he added earnestly, "With medical skills that brilliant, her future is limitless, even if she’s a commoner or an orphan. If she’s willing to marry into our family, it would be a blessing for the Willows for generations to come."
Chairman Willow nodded. He was a man of foresight and understood exactly what it would mean for the future matriarch of the Willow family to possess such masterful medical skills.
"When you see my daughter-in-law again, you have to let me meet her."
"Hey! Don’t I get a say in who you pick to be my wife?" Ivan couldn’t help but exclaim.
Chairman Willow was not pleased. "Your grandfather and I have made a decision. You dare object?"
"I wouldn’t dare object, but... at least tell me she’s attractive."
SMACK—
Chairman Willow landed a third slap. "You little brat!" he snarled. "When did I ever teach you to judge a person by their looks?!"
Ivan wailed from the slap, throwing himself crying at Master Willow’s bedside. "Grandpa, look at Dad! He’s hitting me again!"
This time, Master Willow didn’t indulge his only grandson. "Your father is right. A man marries a wife for her character, not her beauty. How can you be so focused on something as superficial as looks?"
Ivan huffed. "So what if I’m superficial? What’s wrong with that? It’s nice to have a pretty face to look at around the house."
"What did you say?"
"I said, I’m going out to meet a client! That way, I’ll look more respectable when I finally meet my future wife."
Master Willow was delighted. "Go on, then. Go on."
The moment Ivan Willow stepped out of the hospital room, the smile vanished from his face.
"Pah!" he scoffed.
’Some little nobody comes out of nowhere and tricks my grandfather. If I ever find out who you are, I’ll make you regret the day you were born.’
