Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Who Am I Doing Justice To If I Don’t Go Crazy?

The Sutton Residence.

Amelia Sutton was lounging on the sofa, a facial mask on, listening to music as she flipped through the latest issue of a fashion magazine.

Seeing the new gowns from Innis, which took up a full eight pages of the magazine, made her grind her teeth in hatred.

Innis’s work had always been exceptional, and this latest collection was absolutely magnificent.

Anyone who wore one of her designs would undoubtedly outshine everyone else at any event. The very thought of it promised endless glamour.

But that kind of glamour had nothing to do with her anymore.

She had been blacklisted by Innis.

From that day forward, for the rest of her life, she could never own another piece from Innis. She was especially cut off from anything by its founder, Innis herself.

Amelia recalled what Saul Reynolds had said when she had argued indignantly with him.

Saul Reynolds had told her arrogantly, "No one can truly own Innis; you are merely its keeper for the next generation. And your character does not align with our brand’s identity. So, I’m sorry."

Seething with anger, Amelia slammed the magazine onto the floor and cursed, "Eliza Sutton, you bitch!"

If it weren’t for Eliza Sutton, she wouldn’t have been blacklisted by Innis, and she certainly wouldn’t have become a laughingstock to so many people!

Just as she was grinding her teeth, wishing she could tear Eliza Sutton to a thousand pieces, a commotion erupted outside the door.

"You can’t come in!"

"Miss Sutton said you’re not to set foot in the house!"

Amelia was already in a foul mood, and the noise only made her more impatient. "Who’s making all that racket outside!"

A maid hurried in and said, "Miss, it’s Eliza Sutton. She’s here."

Amelia’s expression immediately darkened. "Tell her to get the hell out!"

The words had barely left her mouth when the door was forcefully pushed open, and Eliza Sutton strode in.

Seeing Eliza, Amelia shot to her feet, furious. "Who let you in! You’ve got some nerve, barging into the Sutton residence!"

"Some nerve?" Eliza laughed. "You’re right, I do have a lot of it. Want to see for yourself?"

In the next second, she struck, grabbing Amelia’s wrist and yanking her off the sofa. She dragged her all the way to the balcony and slammed her against the railing.

Amelia shrieked, screaming, "AH! Eliza Sutton! What are you doing?"

"What do you think I’m doing? I’m losing my mind, of course." Eliza slowly broke into a smile. "You dared to hire people to kidnap and bury me alive. If I didn’t go a little crazy in response, it just wouldn’t be fair, would it?"

"W-what kidnapping?" Amelia’s conscience was pricked, but she quickly became self-righteous. "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing! You’re just using this as an excuse to extort money from the Suttons! Let me tell you, your little scheme won’t work!"

"So, you refuse to admit you hired people to kidnap me?"

"I didn’t do it, so what is there to admit? Eliza Sutton, you didn’t learn a thing in your five years in prison, except how to frame people. I should have made sure you were locked up for a few more years, so you’d be a con eating prison food until the day you die!"

Amelia’s tone was incredibly vicious.

Eliza was unfazed. Ever since Harrison Sutton had married that woman, Mae Sheffield, she had heard such venomous words more times than she could count. She had long since become as calm as still water.

With one hand holding Amelia down and the other on her phone, she quickly played a recording.

"News that the precious daughter of the Sutton family hired someone to kidnap her own sister is worth five hundred thousand? If this news gets out, I wonder how much of your ’prestigious young lady’ reputation will be left?"

"..."

Amelia’s face changed as she heard the recording of her conversation with the kidnapper.

"It’s fake! It’s all fake!" Amelia shouted, trying to snatch Eliza’s phone, only to be pushed further over the railing.

"AH!"

Amelia’s entire upper body was now hanging in the air. The fear of falling made her scream in terror.

"So noisy. Shut up!" Eliza snapped.

Amelia immediately fell silent. She was terrified that Eliza would let go. If she did, she could easily break her neck!

"So, talk. What were you thinking, daring to hire someone to kidnap me? You even wanted to bury me alive. That’s pretty ruthless."

"I didn’t! I don’t know what you’re talking about!"

The facial mask had fallen off her face earlier. Now, a gust of wind blew past, making her face feel cold and causing her to shiver.

Eliza brandished the phone. "Since you don’t know what I’m talking about, that’s great. I’ll just hand this recording over to the police. I hope your ’I didn’t do it, I don’t know anything’ defense holds up then!"

"Eliza Sutton!" Amelia panicked and screamed, "Don’t! You can’t give it to the police!"

’She didn’t want to go to prison!’

’Even more, she didn’t want to become a criminal despised by everyone, just like Eliza Sutton!’

Eliza looked at her with a half-smile.

Amelia, guilty and breathless, stammered, "I... I didn’t do it on purpose... It’s all your fault! If you hadn’t found some gigolo to seduce my mom and then brought Dad to catch them in the act, I wouldn’t have gotten so angry and had you kidnapped to teach you a lesson! You were the one who did something wrong first, I just retaliated! Eliza Sutton, you have no right to hold a grudge against me!"

Eliza laughed. "Amelia Sutton, there aren’t many people who can twist logic like you can. You’re really something."

Amelia heard the endless mockery in that ’you’re really something’.

She pretended not to hear it.

Amelia gave in, her eyes reddening. "I was wrong. It was my fault this time. I shouldn’t have been so impulsive. It will never happen again. For the sake of us being sisters, and for the fact that it wouldn’t look good for you if I went to jail, please let me go this one time."

"Me losing face if you go to jail? I’ve already been to prison, remember? Who knows, maybe people will hear about it and praise our deep sisterly bond. The whole family, all neat and tidy."

’Who the hell wants to be ’neat and tidy’ with Eliza Sutton!’ Amelia nearly cursed out loud.

But with Eliza holding the evidence, all she could do was force a smile. "Sister, I was really wrong. Please don’t lower yourself to my level. Just give me one more chance. I promise I’ll listen to you from now on."

"You’ll listen to me?" Eliza sounded extremely skeptical.

Amelia nodded frantically, as if her life depended on Eliza believing her.

"Alright then, I’ll believe you this once." Eliza lifted her chin. "Call Sean Hughes right now. Tell him you cheated on him and you want to break off the engagement."

"You!"

Amelia was furious, but the thought of the recording made her force another smile. "I really can’t do that. If Dad finds out, he’ll skin me alive, and you won’t get off easy either. What’s the point of doing something that hurts me and doesn’t benefit you?"

"You make a very good point."

The tension on Amelia’s face eased, and the corners of her lips lifted slightly. But just as she was about to speak, she heard Eliza continue.

"But I enjoy it. I’m perfectly willing to hurt you even if it doesn’t benefit me."

Amelia’s face twisted in anger, but she could only force a smile. "Then tell me what you want me to do. I’ll do anything, except break up with Sean Hughes. Eliza... no, Sister, I’m begging you, please don’t send me to prison."

Eliza stared at Amelia’s pitiful expression for a long moment before finally speaking. "Fine, then. I’ll give you one more chance. Amelia Sutton, you’d better not disappoint me."

’Of course, she wasn’t going to send Amelia to prison.’

’Letting her go to prison for what she and her mother did would be getting off too easy!’

’Now that I’m out, I’m going to take back everything they owe me—and everything they owe my two children—bit by bit!’
