Chapter 79: Ambitions

Meanwhile, Dane tapped his fingers on the table as he stared at the message he had sent Sienna. He was waiting for her reply. However, even after minutes passed, there wasn’t any.

Frowning lightly, he sent another message, which was nothing but a question mark. But the message remained unsent. Sienna had blocked his new number too.

Gritting his teeth, banged the table, her eyes blazing with fire.

"Sienna," he spat, feeling his blood boil. The woman was getting on his nerves. His years of planning and scheming had all gone down the drain. Once again, he cursed himself for not being careful.

Getting together with Celia hadn’t been just for a quick sex. He had it all planned. Since Leah was focused on her career and not interested in dating, he had targeted Sienna instead.

He knew Sienna was adopted. But he also knew that the Lawrence family loved her dearly. They wouldn’t exclude her from the inheritance. She, too, would gain a part of it in the future.

Celia had been his backup plan. After all, there weren’t any eternal enemies. When it came to profits, enemies, too, would become friends.

Sienna’s grandfather may have severed ties with his sister. But who could guarantee that he wouldn’t forgive her in the future? In that case, wouldn’t the Nelson family also benefit in the future?

Sienna was a shrewd woman. It wasn’t that easy to trick her. Every time he was with her, he had to be cautious and alert. There had been times when she had even shown her disinterest in him, causing him to panic. So, he had approached Celia, who was brainless and easy to coax.

Who knew he’d be caught in the midst by Sienna?

And who knew the Lawrence family would face such a tragedy?

Dane regretted it greatly. If he could turn back time, he wished to rectify his mistake and focus only on Sienna. Knowing her, he was certain she’d never forgive the Nelson family. He had fucked up big time. frёeωebɳovel.com

Dane felt his ambition moving further away. His desire to reach the pinnacle of the world seemed to have become all the more difficult.

His phone vibrated, and Dane picked it up immediately, his eyes lighting up with hope. But when he saw it wasn’t Sienna but Celia texting him, his eyes became empty again.

Celia: Dane, can we meet today?

Dane sighed and pulled his hair in frustration. "I shouldn’t have helped her leave the police station," he muttered, once again blaming himself for his choices.

Dane ignored her message, like all other messages Celia had sent after leaving the police station. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with the brainless woman. He had other matters to attend to.

However, the woman was relentless. She didn’t stop texting him and calling him, almost draining his phone’s battery.

Dane wanted to block her number forever. But he didn’t dare to. The woman and her family were still of some use to him, and he didn’t intend to end things until his goals were achieved.

His phone stopped ringing for a few minutes before it began again, only this time it was Celia’s grandmother calling him. Feeling his head throb, he cursed Celia and their family. They were like leeches, clinging to him as if their lives depended on it.

Celia’s grandmother called him a few times more, but he left them unanswered. It was only when more than an hour passed that he returned the call, beginning with Celia.

"Celia, hi. Sorry, dear, I was in a meeting," he lied easily.

"Ohh, I thought you were ignoring me," the woman complained coquettishly. But it only made Dane nauseous.

"How could I do that, baby? I can never ignore you."

"I love you," the woman said in obvious joy.

"Me too." Dane felt his skin crawl, and he withheld himself from ending the call.

"Can we meet tonight?"

"Sure. I wanted to ask you out on a date as well."

Celia was giddy with excitement, and she cheered loudly.

"Awesome. You’ll have to drop by after dinner. Grandma wants to speak to you about something."

Dane’s eyes narrowed. He didn’t know what the old woman was up to. In the Nelson family, she was the only one he was cautious about. The woman wasn’t a fool. She was unbelievably devious, borderline evil. He had to be extremely careful in her presence lest he gave himself away.

Since she wanted to meet him, the matter had to be important and something that would interest him for sure.

"Sure. I want to meet Grandma as well. It’s been a long time."

His sweet words only served to trap the young lady all the more, and she couldn’t stop smiling.

"By the way, did you meet her recently?" Celia’s tone changed suddenly, and Dane sat up straight, understanding who she was referring to.

"No, I haven’t," he lied again. He didn’t mention anything about the will or the conditions in it.

What if the Nelson family used this matter to their advantage and tried to sabotage his plans? He had already fucked up, he couldn’t afford anymore mishaps.

"Good. I swear I’ll kill that bitch if I see her next time," Celia seethed. "How dare she send me to the police station? I’ll show her what I’m capable of."

Dane rolled his eyes in dismay. Celia was nothing in front of Sienna.

Sienna was a queen. She was unreachable, unbelievably smart, and exceptionally talented. Who gave Celia the confidence that she was better? Didn’t she evaluate herself before speaking bullshit?

"She is just a street rat. If Uncle and Aunt hadn’t taken her in, she’d be begging on the streets. How dare she show off before me?"

"Calm down, dear. There’s no need to fret about an unwanted person," Dane said, uninterested in her quibbles. Celia was a bumbling fool, and he didn’t intend to entertain her nonsense anymore.

"You’re right. I should stop thinking about irrelevant people. What time are you coming to pick me up?"

Dane sighed, pressed his fingers against his forehead. "At 6."

"Okay, I’ll see you at 6 then."

"See ya."
