Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 77: Birthday plans
Chapter 77: Birthday plans
Sienna had fallen asleep long ago, and it wasn’t just Kyrell and her anymore. Isaac, Amy, and Xavier had joined him to help him ward off his boredom.
The VIP ward had a separate room away from Sienna. So, their presence wasn’t a disturbance to her, nor would it seem out of place to have so many people in the ward when she was sleeping.
Keeping the door ajar, Kyrell sat closer to it, turning towards Sienna every few seconds, ensuring she was comfortable. Not once did he stop smiling. He was giddy with excitement and was still in disbelief to think that he’d soon be marrying the woman he liked.
His stars were definitely aligning. Otherwise, why did everything fall into the perfect place suddenly?
"Why are you smiling like a fool? Did you inhale something you shouldn’t have?" Xavier asked, finding Kyrell’s behavior odd.
The man was close to crying some time ago. What happened to him suddenly? Did his brain break after suffering a heartbreak?
"I have something important to tell you guys," Kyrell started, unable to control himself anymore. Since the matter was confirmed, he couldn’t wait to tell everyone he was marrying Sienna.
"What?" Isaac munched on a potato chip and looked at him lazily.
"Miss Lawrence... Miss Lawrence and I will be getting married soon."
Xavier, who had taken a big sip of his Coke, spluttered it everywhere, and most of it fell on Isaac’s face.
"You...you...you..." Xavier’s tongue went numb, her brain suddenly running short of vocabulary.
"Disgusting," Isaac spat, pulling out a few tissues and wiping his face. "Can’t you be proper?"
"Didn’t you listen to what he just said?" Xavier felt incredulous. How did the world change all of a sudden? What was he doing when the world changed?
"I did. But is there a need for you to react so dramatically?" Isaac was naturally happy for his friend. However, that didn’t mean he’d lose control over himself like Xavier did.
If a passerby didn’t know the truth, they’d surely assume that it was Xavier who Sienna was marrying. Why was he more exhilarated than the husband-to-be?
"Hey, you don’t understand. Go, squat at the side and have your chips," Xavier sneered and turned to Kyrell. His lips stretched into a smile, and he moved closer as if that would help him hear his friend’s story better.
"Now, you tell me what happened. How did this happen?"
"Umm... well, she asked me to marry her, and I said yes." Kyrell summarized everything in one line, much to Xavier’s dismay.
"That’s it?"
Kyrell nodded.
"That’s all. Why is your love story even shorter than my dog’s?" he complained, feeling aggrieved.
Kyrell gave him a look that said, ’How dare you compare my love story to a dog’s? Do you have a death wish?’
"What? Why are you looking at me weirdly? Did I say anything wrong?" Xavier glanced at Amy and Isaac for answers, only to be ignored. "My dog’s love story is well known in the entire locality. You, on the other hand...." he shook his head and harrumphed.
"So, what exactly happened?" Amy butted into the conversation, forcing Xavier out of it. The man’s madness was acting up again. There wasn’t a need for them to entertain him anymore. "Is it because of the will?"
"More or less." Kyrell didn’t hide the truth from them. Anyway, it wasn’t something to be ashamed of. "But she wants to give our relationship a try. If it works, then well and good. Otherwise, we’ll get a divorce after a year."
"I forbid you to get a divorce. You aren’t allowed to get a divorce," Xavier said suddenly, and Kyrell rolled his eyes.
"Did you even listen to what I said?" Kyrell scolded him without leaving him any face.
"Yeah. You said you’ll get a divorce after a year."
"Good. Not only is your brain not working, but even your ears have stopped functioning. We are already at the hospital. Why don’t you get a full body checkup?"
"Hey, I was just pulling your leg. Is there a need for you to become so serious?" Xavier pouted, sipping on his Coke.
"And I wasn’t joking. Seriously, Xav, get yourself checked."
"Cut it, will you?" Amy interjected and warned Xavier subtly. "Kyrell, we’re happy for you. Finally, your wish is getting fulfilled."
"Yeah. Who knew happiness would come into your life like this?" Isaac agreed.
"I swear, I never expected Miss Lawrence to ask me to marry her. I thought we’d never have a chance."
Kyrell already knew that there was a difference in status between the two. Yet, he couldn’t stop himself from getting close to her, and when her brother, Travis, had approached her, looking to hire a bodyguard for her, he had agreed right away. Using this reason, at least, he could enter her life and get close to her.
But as he spent more time with her, his heart lost all control, and he failed to have a good grasp on it. In just one week of meeting her, he was head over heels, and he couldn’t stay away from her. No matter how much he tried, he could not stay away and eventually succumbed to his feelings.
When he heard the condition in the will for her to marry someone within two weeks, Kyrell felt a tremendous blow, as if someone had crushed his heart. He had even made up his mind to stay far from her as much as possible, lest it become impossible for him once she got married.
Who knew he was worried for nothing? Only he knew how shocked and jubilant he had been when Sienna had asked him to marry her. It was one of the best days of his life, one of the other being when he met Sienna for the first time decades ago.
"Hello, lover boy, come back to us." Xavier snapped his fingers, bringing Kyrell out of his trance. "He’s already a gone case before they married. I wonder what’ll happen to him once they marry."
"No doubt, he’ll never stop daydreaming," Isaac said, his eyes filled with mischief.
"Looks like we’ll be fed with PDA from now onwards," Amy teased, giving Kyrell a cryptic look, which the man ignored.
"Fuck it! I don’t want to watch you two being all mushy. Can you control yourselves?" Xavier felt like puking when he thought of the days ahead. He couldn’t imagine how Kyrell would be now that he was getting married to the woman he loved.
Would he be polite and distant in public and passionate in private? Or would he use every opportunity to be close to his wife?
Xavier felt goosebumps emerge on his skin when he thought of Kyrell being all romantic with Sienna. He couldn’t envision it, let alone expect to see it in the future.
"No. Be ready to be blinded by our love," Kyrell said, as if it was his right. "Your dog eyes will have to get used to it."
Amy and Isaac knew that his words were meant for Xavier alone. So, they didn’t retort.
But that didn’t mean Xavier didn’t.
"I’m going to kill you."
"Sure, let’s spar. Not here, outside. I don’t want to disturb my wife."
Xavier puked four litres of blood. He was utterly annoyed by his friend and started ignoring him.
Meanwhile, Kyrell looked at the time on his watch. As soon as it struck twelve, he raised the can of Coke in his hand. "Happy birthday, Isaac."
"Oh, it’s twelve already?" Xavier jumped to his feet and rushed to hug the birthday boy.
"Happy birthday."
"Thank you." Isaac showed an expression of disgust when Xavier hugged him before nodding curtly at Kyrell.
Amy too wished him, and the group of four cheered softly, celebrating the good day.
A movement from outside caught their attention, and Kyrell looked out immediately. Sienna had woken up at some point in time and was now trying to get out of bed. Dropping the can on the table, he rushed out immediately, his heart pounding madly in worry.
"Miss Lawrence, is everything alright? Is something wrong?" He supported her from the side and helped her to sit properly.
"I heard someone talking, so I thought of checking. I didn’t know it was you guys." Sienna nodded at the other three, who had followed Kyrell out.
"Did we disturb you? We are so sorry, Miss Lawrence," Amy said, smiling guiltily. "We could get a little loud and unruly whenever we are together."
"That’s fine. I’ve been sleeping for a long time. I could take a break." Sienna smiled at them, assuring them silently. "I heard you guys cheering. What’s the occasion? What happened?"
"Well, it’s Isaac’s birthday today. So..."
"Bless my memory! I’m so sorry I forgot. Happy birthday." Sienna felt guilty. She had completely forgotten about his birthday amidst all the chaos in her life.
"I understand, Miss Lawrence. Don’t be sorry, and thank you," Isaac nodded at her, assuringly.
"We were celebrating for another reason, too, Miss Lawrence," Xavier said suddenly, and Sienna tilted her head, giving him a questioning look.
"Oh, do enlighten me."
Kyrell darted him a look of warning. But Xavier ignored it.
"We heard that our friend is getting married. This calls for a celebration. Right, Miss Lawrence?"
Xavier quirked his brows teasingly, and Sienna was stunned by his crude words. The man was quite bold.
"I’m sorry, Miss Lawrence. My friend here is a little too excited. Forgive him for his rudeness." Kyrell stepped forward to ease the awkwardness in the air.
"That’s fine. I don’t mind it. If he doesn’t tease you, who else is going to?" Sienna said, and Kyrell was instantly reminded of how she had pulled his leg some time ago.
He looked at her as if he were saying, ’Oh, really? Do you want to go there?’
"What are your plans for today?" Sienna asked, ignoring him even if her heart couldn’t.
"We haven’t made any, Miss Lawrence. We didn’t have the time."
Sienna felt guilty. If not for her falling sick suddenly, the team would have planned a celebration for Isaac for sure. It was all her fault.
"Don’t be, Miss Lawrence. It wasn’t your fault." Isaac understood what was running through her mind. So, he assured her softly. "We can always do something some other day."
"How can we do that? It’s your birthday today." Sienna shook her head, rejecting his suggestion. "How about this? I’ll be discharged in the evening. Let’s go out for dinner. It’ll be my treat."
"But..."
Sienna tilted her head and gave Isaac a look, and the man swallowed his complaints immediately.
"It’s decided then. Inform your friends and dress casually. We’ll be going to a club after dinner."
"Yay!" Xavier cheered and punched his fist in the air.
"Miss Lawrence, are you sure about that? I mean, with all the danger..." Kyrell wasn’t sure about the plan. With her life in danger, he wasn’t willing to take the risk, even if it was to celebrate his friend’s birthday.
"Yes, Miss Lawrence. We can have a small celebration at the villa." Isaac, too, tried to reason with her.
"Don’t worry. It’s my turf. The chances of me being in danger are very low."
Kyrell was still not convinced. But he remained silent, not willing to douse everyone’s excitement.
"I guess it’s time for us to leave," Amy said tactfully. Since Sienna was awake, it was better they left, giving some space for Kyrell and her.
Kyrell already had feelings for Sienna, but the woman didn’t. So, being Kyrell’s good friends, they took it upon themselves to push them close to each other.
The three people cleared all the trash and left the ward, leaving Kyrell with Sienna.
"Are you sure about tonight’s celebration, Miss Lawrence?" Kyrell still wasn’t certain about it. He wasn’t willing to put her life at stake whatsoever.
"Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to me." Sienna smiled, finding his worried expression cute. "Moreover, don’t I have you? With you around, will anything ever happen to me?"
