Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 75: Brendon visits
Chapter 75: Brendon visits
Nemaan wanted to stay for some more time. However, it was already four, and he had already outstayed by more than an hour. If he continued to be ignorant and pushy, Sienna would only resent him.
So, unwillingly, he stood up and glanced at Kyrell, who hadn’t spoken much since they had entered the ward.
"Miss Lawrence, I should get going now," he said reluctantly.
Sienna nodded, internally relieved to have some time for herself. Fatigue was also kicking in on her and she wanted to rest for some time, which was not possible in Nemaan’s presence.
"Thank you for visiting me, Mr. Whitmore," she said gratefully. Even though the man had shown overenthusiasm towards her, albeit them meeting for the first time, she was still thankful that he had visited her. The man had eased some of her boredom and she had found a trustworthy acquaintance with whom she didn’t have to be cautious and suspicious.
"It is what I should do, Miss Lawrence," Nemaan smiled, giving Sienna a look she couldn’t understand. "If you need anything, anything at all, call me any time. I’ll always be there for you."
Sienna was surprised to see how solemn he sounded. Did he have to sound so serious?
She didn’t reject his kind intentions and accepted them graciously. "Thank you, Mr. Whitmore. I appreciate your kindness."
Nemaan knew that she was just being polite and didn’t take his words to heart. But he couldn’t do anything about it. He couldn’t tell her the truth, not in the current situation. So, he could only go along with the flow.
"Take care, Miss Lawrence. I’ll see you soon." He nodded at her and turned around to leave. He didn’t forget to dart a glance at Kyrell, his eyes sending a strong warning.
’Take care of her. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude.’
Kyrell didn’t react. Nemaan didn’t have to say anything. He’d take care of Sienna, even if he didn’t warn him.
Finally, it was just Kyrell and her, and Sienna leaned back on her pillow and closed her eyes.
"Are you tired, Miss Lawrence? Do you want to sleep for some time?" Kyrell asked, approaching her lightly.
"Yeah. I feel a little exhausted," she mumbled and stifled a yawn.
"Let me lower the bed, then." Kyrell pressed the button on her bed and watched the bed flatten. He waited until Sienna slipped into a deep sleep before taking the chair by her bed.
Suddenly, her phone dinged, and Kyrell frowned when he saw the contents of the message on the locked screen.
Unknown: You didn’t keep up with the appointment, Miss Lawrence. You can forget about finding the truth about your family’s killers.
Kyrell rolled his eyes when he saw the message. If the person really wanted to relay some information about the tragedy, he wouldn’t have asked Sienna to meet alone in such a secluded place. The person had a motive for sure and whatever it was was anything but innocent.
Sienna slept until seven. After losing consciousness the previous day, she had become extremely lethargic. So, she used this time to catch up on her lost sleep and rest well.
When she woke up, Kyrell wasn’t the only one besides her. Brendon had come to visit her and was absent-mindedly sitting on the couch, flipping through a magazine. His head was lowered. So, she couldn’t see his face clearly. But the man seemed to be worried about something.
"Mr. Curtis," Sienna greeted him, gathering his attention to her. "When did you arrive?"
"A few minutes ago." Brendon stood up, placing the magazine on the couch, and approached her with a concerned gaze. "How are you, child?"
"I’m fine, Mr. Curtis. Thank you for visiting."
Sienna struggled to sit up. Brendon leaned forward to help her. But Kyrell beat him to it. Wrapping his arm around her shoulder, he helped her sit up and even adjusted the pillow behind her.
Brendon cocked a brow when he saw the man’s gentle gaze. His affection for the young lady was obvious in his actions, and Brendon smiled to himself. Though he stayed in seclusion, he kept an eye on Sienna and had investigated all the people around her.
He knew that Kyrell or anyone from the Cheetah Corps had no malicious intentions towards Sienna. They were trying their best to protect her, and the man before him, especially, was attentive to all her needs.
Brendon watched Kyrell pour a glass of warm water for her. His actions reminded him of his wife. Once upon a time, he too had taken care of her in the same way.
Brendon blinked a few times to clear his thoughts and came out of his sorrow.
"Mr. Curtis, can you tell me..."
"Sienna, get some good rest first. We’ll talk about everything else later," Brendon interrupted her before she finished saying her thoughts.
"But..."
"Sienna, your well-being is more important than anything. As I said, rest well and recover quickly, and I’ll tell you everything you want to know."
Brendon wasn’t a fool. He knew why Sienna had fainted all of a sudden. Kyrell had given him a brief idea as to what had happened the previous day. So, he didn’t dare risk it. Sienna had to know the truth, but not at the expense of her life.
Since Brendon remained adamant, Sienna couldn’t do anything about it, so she gave up probing further. They spoke about other things, discussing topics mainly related to the company.
"I saw the news. Your new production house signed Nemaan Whitmore for a movie." Brendon looked at her approvingly.
"Yeah. I thought investing in a production house was a good opportunity to shut the shareholders’ mouths."
In front of Brendon, Sienna wasn’t the domineering Sienna Lawrence. Instead, she looked more like a little girl waiting for her family member to appreciate her hard work.
"You did it right. The entertainment industry is booming, and if you do it well, you can make a lot of money. Just be careful with the people you select."
Sienna understood what the man was trying to say and nodded lightly.
"Will you have dinner with me?"
"Do you want me to have dinner with you?"
Sienna nodded. She didn’t mind his company.
"Fine, then. What do you want to eat? My treat."
"Something light, please."
"Fine." Brendon pulled out his phone and started ordering the food. Since he ordered food regularly, he was familiar with some of the excellent restaurants in the city.
"Order whatever you want, son." He then held the phone towards Kyrell, surprising the man with his words. freewēbnoveℓ.com
"Me?" Kyrell pointed at himself, too stunned to react properly. It was one thing for Sienna to order food for him. But it was something else if someone else did it.
Kyrell had been snubbed a few times by his employer in the past. He didn’t have time to eat food. So, he had to make do with it and find time himself. So, Brendon’s offer came as a surprise to him.
"Yeah. Why? Aren’t you eating?" Brendon couldn’t comprehend his reaction, and he looked at the man strangely.
"No. I’m just surprised."
"Son, I’m a good person. Here, order anything you want."
Sienna’s lips twitched when she heard the man say he was a good person.
Yeah, he was. He was so good that he could bankrupt an entire company with his shrewd schemes.
Kyrell didn’t hesitate anymore. But he didn’t dare to be reckless, either. He only ordered a small portion and returned the phone to him.
Brendon glanced at him suspiciously. "Can you survive on such a small quantity of food? Order something else."
His tone was filled with authority, as if he were commanding him, and Kyrell took the phone helplessly. This time, he didn’t hesitate and ordered enough food for himself.
"See, that wasn’t difficult," Brendon said and placed the order. "What have you thought of doing now?" he asked casually, but Sienna’s unexpected answer rendered him speechless.
"Look for a husband," Sienna said in all seriousness. She even glanced at Kyrell, who was already looking at her. His face was unreadable, but the small quiver of his eyes gave his thoughts away. He was disturbed and in low spirits.
"Do you have someone in mind?" Brendon asked, turning to look at Kyrell. From Sienna’s actions, he could see that she was considering the man. ’Maybe she holds him in high regard,’ he thought, hoping for them to get together.
Kyrell was a good man, and Sienna was a brilliant lady. Although there wasn’t any love between them, not from Sienna at least, that wouldn’t be a problem. With time, feelings could be cultivated. What mattered was for her to find a good man.
"Yeah, I do."
Kyrell’s heart dropped all the more at her words, and he couldn’t hide his sorrow anymore.
"But I’m not sure if he’ll agree," Sienna added, feeling guilty all of a sudden. Even though she hadn’t done anything wrong, she felt uncomfortable.
"Miss Lawrence, I’ll be back soon," Kyrell said and stepped out of the ward before she stopped him.
Brendon studied the man who was slipping away before returning his attention to Sienna.
"Is it him?" he asked directly, and Sienna nodded without hiding the truth from him.
"Why haven’t you mentioned the matter to him yet? The man likes you, you know."
"I know. He confessed."
"So soon?" Brendon was surprised. How long had it been since they met each other?
"Yeah. We’ve known each other far longer than I had thought." Sienna didn’t explain, and Brendon didn’t ask about it, trusting her judgment.
"When will you talk to him about it?"
"Soon. I need to do something first." Sienna’s eyes flashed with a killing intent. "Only after I finish dealing with the nuisance can I think about myself."
