Chapter 74: Strange bond - Part 2

The two men collected the food first, before they looked for a secluded area to speak.

Nevian stared at Kyrell as if he were a sinner. His eyes were glaring thunderbolts at him as if waiting for the man to explode to death.

"How dare you hide such a huge matter from me?" he seethed, his jaw ticking in anger while he clenched his fists.

"It all happened suddenly. What do you expect me to do?" Kyrell said, scowling lightly. "I was worried out of my mind when I saw Miss Lawrence lose consciousness. Do you think I’d remember anything else?"

Nevian huffed, not convinced by his words. He looked away, trying to calm himself down.

"Do you think they’ll fight?" Isaac asked when he saw how tense the air around the men was. It was as if two gods were exchanging blows, each more earth-shattering than the other.

"Do they look like they are going to fight? It looks more like they are staring at each other in love," Xavier said, munching on his melon seeds. He just needed a stool, and he was set. The entertainment arena was filled, and he was presented with a wonderful show. Why would he not enjoy it?

Amy’s lips twitched when she heard his crude words. Love? Why would Kyrell and Nevian be in love? Xavier’s gone delusional. Someone, admit him to the hospital.

"What happened to her?" Nevian asked once he had calmed down.

"Vasovagal syncope. Miss Lawrence fainted because of shock. It is not serious though. But coupled with the fact that she was stressed and overworked and her injuries from her previous accident, her body just gave up. She needs to rest well," Kyrell iterated all that the doctor had said without missing a word, and Nevian’s lips thinned into a hard line.

"Shock, you say?" Nevian narrowed his eyes, giving Kyrell a look that said he better started speaking before something happened.

"Apparently, Miss Lawrence’s adoptive father already knew that their family was in danger. He hid the news from everyone and prepared a will."

"And?" Nevian prompted when he realized that there was more to it.

"And the will was for Miss Lawrence." Kyrell pursed his lips when he thought of what he was going to say next. He couldn’t remove Sienna’s face from his memories when she had cried her heart out. He had never felt his heart crushing in pain before.

"Mr. Lawrence knew that only Miss Lawrence would be alive in the end."

Nevian felt his entire spin after listening to Kyrell. He wasn’t even related to the matter, and he felt devastated. He wondered how Sienna was feeling when she was heavily involved in the matter.

"Is this information accurate?" Nevian was close to punching someone to death.

"We don’t know. Miss Lawrence found out from her father’s friend and immediately after, she fainted."

"What does Sienna intend to do next?" Nevian felt terrible. The situation was more complicated than he had assumed.

"I don’t exactly know. But I’m guessing she’ll be looking for her father’s friends for answers and..." Kyrell hesitated, not knowing how to say the next few words.

"And?" Nevian felt his heart drop when he saw Kyrell’s expression. It didn’t look good from any angle.

Was there more? Hadn’t he heard enough? Hadn’t Sienna suffered enough?

"And according to Mr. Lawrence’s will, Miss Lawrence has to marry someone within the next two weeks for her to inherit all the assets. Otherwise, everything will go to the Lawrence Family Foundation."

"Fucking hell!" Nevian was beyond pissed, not just at Kyrell for hiding such a huge matter from, but also at Sienna’s adoptive father for pushing her into the fire. Which father would do that?

"Does she have someone in mind?" His heart itched to kill the person who had pushed Sienna into this situation.

"Not that I know of. She hasn’t said anything about it since she woke up."

Nevian remained silent. Running a hand through his hair, he kicked the air in anger. "Damn it! It was all my fault. If only I had come early...."

"Nevian," Kyrell stopped him from going berserk. "Even if you had come early, you couldn’t have done anything."

The truth hit Nevian like a mac truck, smashing his entire being until there was nothing of it left. It was true. He couldn’t have done anything, even if he had come earlier. He squatted and folded his hands around his knees.

"Kyrell, I feel terrible," he said, his eyes red and filled with sorrow. "Sienna was supposed to have led the life of a princess. Why is she going through all this misery?"

"Nevian..." Kyrell didn’t know how to comfort him. He knew of the guilt that was consuming Nevian. He could only watch the man blame himself for all that was happening.

"You know how fucking hard it is to see my sister fight every day of her life while I can’t do anything about it. Her biological family lost her when she was three and she lost her adoptive family in her adulthood. Why is her life so fucking miserable?" Nevian was close to shouting at the heavens for being unfair.

"At least she had a good childhood, Nevian," Kyrell said seriously. "What would have happened if an abusive family had adopted her? Just imagine."

Kyrell even feared to think about it. He was especially thankful that the Lawrence family had adopted Sienna, and she had grown up with love and care.

"That is the only thing keeping me going. Otherwise, I’d have lost my mind completely."

"Are you going to come clean before her?" Kyrell asked once Nevian calmed down a little and stood up.

"I want to. I so desperately want to tell Sienna that I’m her brother, I’m her elder brother. But I can’t." Nevian was downcast and resented himself all the more.

"Mr. and Mrs. Whitmore?" Kyrell understood and smiled bleakly.

Nevian nodded. "Revealing the truth to her could bring her more harm. Fuck, man! I don’t know what to do."

"What do Mr. and Mrs. Whitmore say? What do they intend to do?"

"Mom and Dad are coming here next week. They want to meet Sienna first."

Kyrell didn’t comment. He had no right to intervene in their family matter.

"Does Sienna have anyone she can depend on? Anyone at all?" Nevian looked at Kyrell hopefully.

"She has her butler and his family. They are good people, loyal and honest. Also, there are her employees, Esme, Edward, and Simon. I can’t exactly speak for her Dad’s friend who’s going to join the Lawrence Group from Monday. I’ll have to observe him first."

Nevian nodded, running a hand through his hair.

"Also, Miss Lawrence has us. With the Cheetah Corps around, she’ll have nothing to worry about."

Nevian didn’t doubt him. Cheetah Corps was the best in providing security services. Since Sienna was being protected by them, she wouldn’t be in harm’s way that easily.

"We should return. Miss Lawrence must be wondering what’s holding us up." ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

Nevian nodded again, and the two men entered the hospital.

"Thank God. I thought I’d be blinded by their romance," Xavier grumbled, and Amy rolled her eyes at him.

Someone, please stop this joker. There’s no need for him here.

"I thought you guys lost your way back," Sienna joked when she saw the two men return.

"We may have gone the wrong way," Nevian smiled in mischief and snuck out his tongue, trying to hide his true thoughts from his sister.

"At least you made it back while the food is hot."

Kyrell arranged the small table on her bed before opening the box.

"Hey, is everything alright?" Sienna asked when he returned with her congee.

"Yes, Miss Lawrence. What’s wrong?"

Sienna looked at him weirdly. "You aren’t being yourself. Are you okay?"

Nevian cocked a brow when he noticed how close the two were. There was a strange spark between them that was oddly comforting. Moreover, they looked compatible as they looked at each other, like a couple in love.

’I must have lost my mind,’ Nevian thought, shaking his head. ’Otherwise, why would I imagine something that’s not true?’

"I’m fine, Miss Lawrence. Don’t worry," Kyrell assured her with a soft smile.

Although Sienna wasn’t convinced, she didn’t probe more, returning her attention to Nevian, who was watching her silently.

Sienna didn’t know how to initiate the conversation with him. Nevian was a stranger, and she didn’t know much about him. Unlike Kyrell, with whom she could converse without any problems, she didn’t quite know how to break the ice between Nevian and her.

Speak about their professions? Nah! Their professions didn’t match, and she had no idea about the entertainment industry.

"What are your hobbies, Miss Lawrence?" Nevian’s voice broke her chain of thoughts.

"Hobbies?" Sienna’s eyes rounded in surprise. She had never expected him to ask such a bizarre question.

"Yeah."

"Painting actually."

"Oh, really?" Nevian was intrigued.

Even Kyrell’s eyes darted towards her in surprise.

"Yeah. I’ve always liked painting. It’s secondary that I haven’t painted anything in recent months. What about you, Mr. Whitmore?" Sienna asked to continue to conversation.

"I’m into photography."

"Do you have time for it? Considering your profession?"

"I travel a lot because of my work. So, I cultivated this hobby over time."

"Nice."

Sienna and Nevian engaged in a small conversation as they ate their lunch while Kyrell just sat by himself on the couch.

"Why are you sitting there alone, Mr. Winchester? Come, join us." Sienna beckoned him to join them.

Nevian looked at him warningly. His eyes practically said, ’Don’t you dare come here. Don’t disturb my time with my sister.’

"The food is hot, Miss Lawrence." Kyrell too had no intentions of disturbing the siblings. It was the first time they were meeting in decades. Although Sienna didn’t know about it, Nevian did, and he had no desire to intervene in the siblings’ conversation.

They needed to strengthen their bond, which had practically become non-existent over the years.
