Chapter 73: Strange bond - Part 1

Nevian was quick. He arrived within twenty minutes after his call with Sienna ended.

’Did he come here on a rocket or something? Why is he so fast?’ Kyrell wondered, staring at the man who was throwing glares at him every few seconds.

"Miss Lawrence, hello." Nevian’s voice trembled as he stared at the beautiful woman on the bed. He had envisioned the meeting a lot of times. But never had he expected it to be like this, in a hospital while Sienna was sick.

Placing the basket of fruits on the table by the bed, he took the chair while Kyrell moved away, allowing the two people to converse in peace.

Not just Nevian, even Jason and Edward had accompanied him on hearing that Sienna was hospitalized. They followed him on their own accord, worried out of their minds.

Sienna, being hospitalized, was hidden from everyone, including her employees. Not even Esme, Simon, and Edward had known about it. They had assumed she was working from home. If Edward hadn’t been with Jason when Sienna had called him, he too wouldn’t have found out anything about it.

"Miss Lawrence, how are you now?" Edward asked politely, taking another chair beside her bed while Jason sat on the couch by the wall.

"I’m fine now. Don’t worry," Sienna assured him with a smile. Her eyes subconsciously drifted towards Nevian, who was watching her silently. She sensed an odd familiarity with him, as if she had known him for years.

But I barely know him and it’s my first time meeting him. What’s happening?

Sienna was apprehensive. She couldn’t quite fathom why she felt a strong bond with him.

"What happened, Miss Lawrence?" Nevian asked, his voice oddly gentle and pampering.

’Pampering? I must be out of my mind," Sienna thought, shaking her head lightly.

"It’s just stress. It’s not serious." Sienna brushed it off with a smile. But it only made Nevian more concerned, and he scowled to himself.

"When will you be discharged, Miss Lawrence?"

"Hopefully tomorrow. I want to leave this place soon. I’m bored out of my mind," Sienna joked and the men smiled to themselves, understanding her to some extent. They were all workaholics. It wasn’t a wonder that she was bored to death.

"How did the signing go? Were there any glitches?" Sienna asked no one in particular. But all three men shook their heads at once.

"No, Miss Lawrence. Everything went fine. We’ll start auditioning for the other roles from next week," Jason explained. Since he was the writer and director of the movie, it lay upon him to find the perfect people to play the characters.

"Umm... Miss Lawrence, do you want to recommend someone?" he asked, forcing out a stiff smile. He had faced trouble a lot of times when the investor wanted to force someone they wanted into the cast. So, he decided to ask her first before he had to change the cast in the future.

After all, Sienna was the investor. She had the final say.

"No, Mr. Cowell. I’m not that familiar with the entertainment industry. You handle it as you deem fit. You have the full freedom."

Jason’s smile turned genuine by the time she finished speaking. Sienna was a dream investor and he couldn’t stop rejoicing for finding someone like her as his backing. Having freedom meant he could take his time to find the best cast for his film and ensure class acting. What a delight!

"Thank you, Miss Lawrence. I won’t let you down."

Sienna nodded with a smile. She then turned to Nevian, who hadn’t spoken much since he entered the ward.

"I hope you’re satisfied with your renumeration, Mr. Whitmore. I’m sure Mr. Jones offered you a good contract. But if you’re unhappy, we can negotiate," she offered, allowing the man to speak his mind.

’Miss Lawrence, Nevian will work for you for free. He doesn’t need your money,’ Kyrell thought, rubbing his right wrist. ’What he needs from you is something else.’

"Don’t worry, Miss Lawrence," Nevian said with concealed emotions. "I’m satisfied with the offer."

"Great, then." Sienna darted an appreciative glance at Edward, who only raised his spectacles in acknowledgement.

Edward and Jason didn’t stay for long. They had other matters to attend to and a lot of work to handle. So, they left after conversing for some time.

But Nevian remained in the ward, not showing signs of leaving anytime soon. The man kept staring at her silently with a strange look, unnerving her all the more.

"Mr. Whitmore, you’re oddly silent. Is everything alright?" she asked, unable to bear it anymore. She was fine with him staring at her. But it was the peculiar look on his face that made her apprehensive.

"I’m just thinking, Miss Lawrence," Nevian replied with a sorrowful smile.

"Okay. About what? May I ask?" Sienna turned her body until she was facing him and didn’t have to strain her neck anymore.

"Just some sad thoughts. Nothing important." Nevian brushed off her question with a light smile. "You owe me a meal, Miss Lawrence."

"Here?" Sienna’s eyes widened, surprised by the man’s audacity. She was a patient. But the man wasn’t giving her any leeway.

"Why not? You’re bored. I’m free. We can have lunch here," Nevian suggested, not minding that they were at the hospital. "We can order food here."

"Umm..." Sienna wasn’t sure. Although she had agreed to have a meal with him, she hadn’t expected it to be under such conditions. "Are you sure?"

"Definitely. I’d be my honor."

"Well..." Sienna glanced at Kyrell, who was still standing by the wall, seeking his opinion on the matter. She didn’t know Nevian well to have a meal while she was sick.

Surprisingly, Kyrell didn’t react. He didn’t even look at her, lowering his head the moment she turned towards him.

’Why is he avoiding my gaze? What’s wrong with him?’ she wondered, feeling perturbed by his behavior.

Forced into a corner, Sienna had no choice but to relent. "Fine, Mr. Whitmore. It’ll be my treat. Order whatever you want."

"Gladly."

"Mr. Winchester, may I have my phone? I need to send a message to Frank."

Nevian darted a suspicious glance at Kyrell.

Why does Kyrell have Sienna’s phone? What’s cooking between the two of them?

Kyrell ignored Nevian completely and handed Sienna her phone.

Sienna: Frank, there’s no need to bring lunch today. I’m having a meal with someone. Also, don’t worry about me. Stay with Anthony today; he needs you. I have Kyrell and the others with me.

Frank: Okay, Miss. Please inform me if you need anything.

Sienna: Surely.

Sienna had no idea that Frank’s thoughts had started to run wild. He was willing to follow her order this time without objecting. After all, it was the best chance for the two to cultivate their feeling. He couldn’t be more delighted if Sienna and Kyrell married each other. It was the perfect outcome he could ever envision.

"What would you like to have, Miss Lawrence?" Kyrell asked, opening the delivery app.

"Order something light for me, please. I don’t want to eat something heavy."

"How about some seafood congee?" Since they had decided to go for Chinese cuisine, Kyrell browsed for something light.

"Sure. Just fish please."

"Done. What about you, Mr. Whitmore?" Kyrell passed the phone to Nevian to choose his food, and the man added all that he wanted to eat without caring about the cost.

Kyrell’s lips twitched when he saw the amount of food he had ordered.

Can he even eat all of that? Won’t his stomach explode from overeating?

Nevian gave him a look that said, Do you have a problem?

Shaking his head at his childish actions, Kyrell added two dishes for himself, chicken dumplings and fried rice before placing the order.

"So, Mr. Whitmore, do you stay in LA?" Sienna asked, leaning back slightly to find a comfortable position.

Nevian nodded, not surprised that she knew where he lived. Didn’t most celebrities lived in LA?

"Nice. What about your family?"

Nevian smiled mysteriously, making Sienna frown in wonder.

’What’s wrong with him now? Why is he smiling creepily?’

"My parents are in Maryland while my brother in is Washington."

"Ah, you have a brother?" Sienna was surprised. She had never checked his personal life. It had all been his works and achievements over the years. So, she didn’t know anything about him.

"Yes, younger." Nevian had a soft smile when he spoke of his family, and Sienna’s smile faltered. Her eyes clouded with sorrow instantly, and she started missing her family. Even though Travis and Leah weren’t related to her by blood, their bond was stronger than any siblings.

’If only...’ she thought, trying to erase the painful memories. freewёbnoνel.com

"Miss Lawrence, Mr. Whitmore has ripped you off today," Kyrell said all of a sudden, shaking her out of her memories, and Sienna burst out laughing.

"Mr. Winchester..." she laughed helplessly, not knowing what to say. She understood what he was trying to do. "I think I can afford it."

"See. Miss Lawrence isn’t even angry. Why are you grumbling?" Nevian shot back, giving Kyrell a look that said he was dead meat.

"Do you two know each other?" Sienna asked, finding it odd that they were speaking so casually with each other.

"The Cheetah Corps were in charge of security for one of his events. We are familiar," Kyrell answered.

"Ahh, that explain it." Sienna nodded, perceiving it to be the reason why Kyrell said that Nevian was trustworthy.

"Our order is here. I’ll go get it," Kyrell informed when his phone dinged.

"I’ll join you. It might be hard for you to carry the food all by yourself." Nevian stood up and stared at him.

Kyrell didn’t reject him. He knew what the man was up to. What was about to come would come for sure. He couldn’t delay it anymore.
