Chapter 71: A hug filled with love - Part 3

Finally, it was just Kyrell and Sienna.

"Why are you looking at me that way?" Sienna asked when she saw Kyrell staring at her peculiarly. There was an odd intensity in his gaze that stunned her to no level. For a moment, she didn’t know how to react.

"Are you fine, Miss Lawrence?" Kyrell asked, ignoring the hoarseness in his voice.

"I’m fine. Don’t worry," Sienna assured him with a soft smile.

"But..."

"Relax, I won’t take any stress."

Although Sienna said that, her eyes were downcast and she started picking the skin near her nail on the index finger, an act that Kyrell realized was due to her nervousness.

’Maybe she remembers,’ he thought about her phone call with Brendon. He wanted to ask her about it but didn’t have the guts. What if she was triggered by the topic? He couldn’t see her in stress again. It killed him every time she was in discomfort.

"I know what’s running in your mind," Sienna said suddenly and Kyrell’s brows shot up slightly.

"You must be thinking about my phone call with Mr. Curtis. What did he tell me that I went into shock and lost consciousness?"

Sienna raised her head and met the man’s perturbed eyes. Sighing lightly, she closed her eyes for a second.

"You know Dad already knew his life was in danger," Sienna mumbled, feeling crestfallen all of a sudden.

"Miss Lawrence..." Kyrell stopped her before she continued. "We can talk about it later."

But Sienna gave a deaf ear to him, her mind reeling the conversation she had with Brendon.

"Not just him but the entire family. He knew that only one of us would survive at the end and that would be me." Sienna’s eyes teared up and she had to use of lot of strength to prevent herself from breaking down.

"He knew everything. That’s why he left the will." Her voice trembled and she sniffled.

"Miss Lawrence..." Kyrell was heartbroken. His heart ached to see her in tears. It was as if a wrench was twisting his heart out until he bled for her. His body reacted before he could stop himself and he sat beside Sienna, pulling her into his arms.

"I feel terrible. It’s so painful," Sienna mumbled, leaning into his embrace until her face lay on his chest.

"Why did Dad do that? We could have thought of something together," she sobbed, her tears gushing out instantly. The instant she felt Kyrell’s warmth and protective embrace, she couldn’t control herself anymore and her heart cried for her family.

"We could have found a solution to eradicate the danger. Why did he not say anything?" Sienna complained, her cries slowly turning into a wail and Kyrell felt as if someone was chopping him into pieces. Seeing her cry was even more painful than the gunshot he had suffered.

Although he wanted to console her, he didn’t know what to say. What was he supposed to say when Sienna was in such a condition?

Tightening his hold on her, he pulled her close until she was completely in his embrace. Their entire upper bodies were pressed against each other.

"Miss Lawrence, please calm down. Please..." Kyrell begged, his voice barely above a whisper. "I can’t see you like this."

"Why did Dad do this to me, Kyrell? Why?"

Sienna gripped his shirt tight, holding on to him for support. Even though she was miserable, her mind and body knew that he was the only one who could protect her. She was safe with him. So, she depended on him wholeheartedly, shattering all the walls around her heart for a moment and seeking comfort from him.

Kyrell ran his palm on her back, trying to console her. "Miss Lawrence, please don’t cry."

Sienna didn’t speak this time and continued sobbing. She wrapped her arms around his waist, putting all her weight on him and Kyrell didn’t mind it. Anything for her.

Neither Sienna nor Kyrell knew how much time had passed. They continued to be in each other’s embrace. He didn’t stop whispering soothing and comforting words to her and gradually, she calmed down.

Kyrell sighed in relief when he realized that Sienna wasn’t crying anymore. She wasn’t trembling, nor did she shrink her body to make herself smaller.

Sniffling lightly, she pulled away and wiped her snot. Her eyes were red and swollen, her cheeks stained with tears.

Sienna moved away and lowered her head and Kyrell pulled out a few tissues from the box and moved closer to her. Holding her chin gently, he wiped the tears, handling her with fragility and regality.

Sienna’s gaze moved to his shirt and her cheeks reddened. Averting her gaze away, she sniffled again and cleared her throat. "I’m sorry about your shirt."

"It’s fine, Miss Lawrence. Your well-being is more important to me." Kyrell didn’t give a damn about his shirt. It was just stained with tears. He could always wash it.

Sienna’s head shot to him instantly, her heart picking up pace at his sweet words. She had never felt more touched, not by someone who wasn’t her family.

"Thank you," she breathed, feeling a minute flicker in her heart. But she ignored it and continued to stare at Kyrell.

"Anything for you, Miss Lawrence," Kyrell said in all honesty.

And Sienna sensed the promise in his words. He was telling the truth. He was willing to do anything for her, to keep her happy.

Sienna pursed her lips and lowered her eyes. Once Kyrell was done cleaning her face, she leaned back on the bed, looking everywhere but him.

"I’ll be back in a minute," he informed and left her side and Sienna’s eyes followed him until he entered the bathroom.

Closing her eyes, she recollected all that she had found out from Brendon. She was overwhelmed with emotions and her mind was spinning at an unbelievable rate. It was an utter mess and she was having a hard time comprehending everything, let alone analyze the situation and find a way to protect herself.

"Miss Lawrence, let me."

Kyrell’s voice interrupted her thoughts and her eyes snapped open again. The man was carrying a wet towel and she looked at him questioningly.

"It’s good for your eyes," he explained, leaning towards her and Sienna obediently closed her eyes, allowing him to help her.

The warm towel soothed her eyes and Sienna sighed softly. Kyrell’s hands moved down and he even wiped her cheeks.

"Thank you." Sienna smiled again and Kyrell nodded, returning her a smile of his own.

An awkward silence filled the air. Neither of them knew how to break the tense atmosphere, and it continued until Frank returned with food. He was surprised to witness how thick the tension between the two was and he wondered what had transpired while he was gone.

"I brought you some chicken enchilada soup, Miss."

"Did Agnes cook it?" Sienna asked, knowing the answer already.

Frank nodded as he started setting the table.

"I’ve troubled you. You should have been with Anthony." Sienna felt guilty. Frank should be with his son. But here he was, with her, catering to her instead of his injured son.

"Don’t worry about it, Miss. Agnes is with Anthony and he has the nurses and doctors to take care of him," Frank assured her and poured some soup into a bowl. It was piping hot and smelt wonderful and Sienna’s appetite was whetted instantly.

Although she wanted to say more, her attention was all on the soup and she pushed away her thoughts for the time being.

"Did you eat, Frank?" Sienna asked, taking a sip of the soup. The hot liquid warmed her up instantly and her mood lifted with each sip she took.

"Yes, Miss. I ate while I was at home."

"What about you, Mr. Winchester? Did you have something?"

Kyrell remained silent. He hadn’t eaten anything since the second Sienna fainted. At least, his friends had taken a break and filled their stomachs in the hospital canteen. But he... he hadn’t budged from her side even once.

"Miss, Mr. Winchester, is yet to eat," Frank replied for Kyrell and Sienna stopped eating instantly. She looked at the man questioningly.

"It’s fine, Miss Lawrence. I’ll have something later."

"I have brought soup for you too, Mr. Winchester." Frank was quick. He even poured a bowl before the man rejected him.

"But..."

"Mr. Winchester, please join me." Sienna moved her bowl to one side, making space for him and Frank paced the bowl beside hers, smiling faintly to himself.

"But, Miss Lawrence..." Kyrell hesitated. Although he wanted to join her, he didn’t want to get too close to her lest it became impossible to extricate himself from her in the future.

"I could use some company." Sienna blinked at him hopefully and that shattered all his reservations.

Shaking his head at his pathetic self, he sat opposite her and the duo started having the chicken soup.

"Miss Lawrence, I have to call Agnes. I’ll be back in a moment."

Sienna nodded, too involved in her food to notice something amiss. Even Kyrell didn’t sense anything and the duo continued to eat silently.

Since her portion was less, Sienna finished her soup first and she observed the man before her silently. Her eyes wandered along his facial features, registering every detail in her memory.

Kyrell was a charismatic man. She had noted it the day they had met for the first time. She had never taken a good look at him after that. Now that she did, Sienna realized that the man was handsome as well. He had a rugged look which made him all the more sexy. They were an innate roguishness around him that added to his charms and Sienna’s cheeks started heating up slowly.

Her father’s will flashed in her mind and a thought popped into her mind. ’Should I marry him? Would he be the one?’
