Academic gathering with a lich-Chapter 472 - 434 Light’s Guidance
The Power of Dreams of the Green Dragon Priest had completely engulfed the city; those squirming, twisted monsters were granted a temporary slumber. Only the spasmodically twitching lumps of flesh and the filth squeezed out by the blood pumps flowing on the ground could testify to their freakish vitality.
The City of Wandering had become a grotesque and terrifying wax museum. Indescribable monsters filled your vision, and the human characteristics discovered amidst the unspeakable debris deepened the horror of this place.
For most sane people, this was a nightmare.
Nameless, on the other hand, had never worried about this. Ever since he had glimpsed the so-called face of God at that sacrificial ritual, his soul had been steadily drifting away from normality. He had originally thought that he would end his existence as an outsider, but reality turned out to be much more interesting than he had imagined.
By the fifth hour after the City of Wandering had undergone its transformation, Mr. Nameless was still striving to return to the Andrey Academy to pursue his occult studies.
All the personnel stationed in the City of Wandering had but one task, and that was the Earth’s coordinates.
Neither spatial studies nor soul studies was Nameless’s strength.
So, today, Nameless still chose to follow fate.
"Heavenly Movement All Phenomena!"
"Heavenly Movement All Phenomena!"
"Heavenly Movement All Phenomena!"
After a series of astrological divinations, Nameless was led onto a remote path.
Due to its secluded location and the paucity of people, within his field of vision, Nameless only saw a twisted blood-flesh creature.
"Is that the key to finding our target?"
Closely examining the blood-flesh creature before his eyes, its rubbery flesh, the organs and surging blood visible beneath the translucent skin, and the fat layer cushioned at the very bottom of the body, like a felt mat muddled with the ground.
The most fitting metaphor was, like a shrimp dumpling transformed by the Evil God.
"It doesn’t seem to have any magic power, just an ordinary lump of flesh."
Years of study at Andrey had allowed Nameless to deduce the nature of this blood-flesh creation. Squinting, the faint lines of fate in his eyes gradually became clear.
A very ordinary fate; among the complex lines of fate, Nameless saw the destiny of this lump of flesh.
Twenty-five of those lines indicated that the flesh would shatter at his touch.
Seventy-three others indicated that he would lose interest in it, and so it would remain intact.
Since the real world cannot provide the answer I seek...
"Then I’ll consult the miraculous astrological divination!"
"Heavenly Movement All Phenomena!"
Eight simulated celestial bodies aligned in a straight line, at either end of which were Nameless and the lump of flesh.
The most external celestial body instantly broke away due to the chaotic gravitational field, hurtling toward the lump of flesh.
And it was at this moment that the lines of fate changed.
Nameless glimpsed that corner of the future.
The holder of the coordinates would appear before him, and that lump of flesh would not be shattered by the simulated celestial bodies. What excited Nameless even more was that his intuition was ringing alarm bells; fate had changed, something had transferred the fate of the flesh being shattered onto himself.
If he continued to let the sphere fly toward the lump of flesh, he would die.
Holding his breath and concentrating, Nameless focused all his attention on the God-Given Eye, searching for the change in fate, the breaking point of destiny, where it lay!
In the back!
Without hesitation, Nameless retreated backward, and the location he had just mentioned erupted in a violent explosion, with the filth on the ground and fragments of stone splattering, kicking up dust.
A broken crescent rolled out from the thick smoke—that was the simulated celestial body launched by Nameless, shattered, with only a thin layer of its outer shell remaining.
To shatter a celestial body, one must first have the power to break the gravitational field. By all accounts, this simulated planet should have been eternal.
What kind of monster could accomplish this?
As the smoke cleared and he saw the person who had taken his place, Nameless was speechless.
The Holy Spear was pulled from the ground, and the valiant Mr. Raymond pointed it directly at Nameless.
"You there, I’ve been watching you for a long time, don’t you know that all this flesh was once citizens!"
Nameless understood, so this was fate’s revelation.
The one to reverse fate, the bearer of coordinates, was Mr. Raymond.
Fate had caused him to strike at the flesh to draw Raymond out, though he nearly got sent away himself.
"Peace, Mr. Raymond, I am Nameless, a member of the Andrei Advanced Magic Research Society."
"Oh, how come the Advanced Magic Research Society has a member as idle as you? Everyone is searching for the way back home, and here you are causing trouble and destruction. Boy, the next time I talk with President Apocalypse, I’ll be sure to bring you up."
Nameless was indifferent about Mr. Raymond keeping President Apocalypse in mind.
"Mr. Raymond, I have found a way back home, but I need your assistance."
"Let’s hear it."
"Your weapon, the Holy Spear called Anginus, it can break through space-time rifts, right? During your contest with Mr. Dark, I saw you wielding that Divine Artifact, in the City of Wandering, killing the Void Messenger situated in the void. That means you alone can establish a connection between the City of Wandering and Earth."
"As long as I perceive the connection between the two, no matter how far apart they are, I can punch through them." Raymond folded his arms, "The prerequisite for all of this is that there is already a connection, or at least a hidden link. The problem now is that we are unable to pierce the void and establish a connection, or are you suggesting that you have a way to get George to start the Void Ritual again?"
Nameless shook his head.
"I can’t, but Mr. Dark is not the only one who can communicate with the void."
"Oh?"
Nameless straightened his collar, brushing off the dust that had settled on his robe. It was futile; the nauseating filth had already seeped into the fibers.
"The Advanced Magic Research Society is dedicated to studying the macro forces of the world. The void is one of the targets that all professors of the society are required to study. Essentially, every professor in the Advanced Magic Research Society has the means to communicate with the void.
"We prefer to call it an observation experiment."
"And then? Can you contact your society members?"
"I can’t, but due to some reasons, all members of the Advanced Magic Research Society have been implanted with a kind of shared meme. You could think of it as a type of group influence, which induces us to pursue plans that we are naturally inclined to execute, originally intended to enhance focus."
"Like a pilgrimage?"
"...Maybe, and now, I can use this meme to get the professors of the Advanced Magic Research Society to start conducting the void observation experiment."
"Precisely at the moment the Advanced Magic Research Professor sends a signal to the void."
Mr. Raymond patted Nameless’s shoulder in admiration, then patted his armor, assuring, "I will use Anginus to pierce that signal source, and find the coordinates of our home."
"...If possible, please be gentle."
