Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 373 long time no see
[Margaret’s Perspective]
Upon hearing this familiar name, I lifted my head and spoke with some surprise, "Lillian? Is that you?"
The next moment, I heard her step forward and yank off the eye mask on my face.
I squinted my eyes and took a moment to adjust, then I looked up at her.
"It’s been a long time, Your Highness, the Lycan Queen!" Lillian said with a hint of sarcasm, her familiar face brimming with schadenfreude.
Faced with Lillian’s sudden appearance, the surprise in my heart gradually dissolved. After pondering for a moment, I felt a sense of helplessness and amusement.
I slowly curved my lips while maintaining eye contact with Lillian, but there wasn’t a trace of a smile in my eyes, "Licia went to great lengths to get you out of the Royal City, and this is how you repay her efforts? Austin and Henry made their choice to collaborate, but you didn’t have to get involved. After all, being called a traitor isn’t flattering!"
Lillian smiled upon hearing this and leaned in, looking straight at me to say, "How do you know that isn’t what Licia truly wants? Perhaps she has already betrayed you, and now she’s on Henry’s side, along with us."
With an unmistakably proud look on her face, I began to doubt the truth behind her words! If Licia had indeed abandoned Donald in favor of Henry, that would be exceedingly cruel.
Thinking of this, my heart ached for Donald, but I didn’t show any fear on my face.
Seeing that I remained silent, Lillian straightened up and slowly made way for the door, "I forgot to tell you, my brother doesn’t need your concern about what he wants to do; he can manage it himself."
"Although many have said this to you before, I still want to say, long time no see, Margaret!"
My eyes widened as I looked at the werewolf behind Lillian. If it weren’t for the searing pain on my face, I would have started to doubt everything as a terrible nightmare!
"Have you forgotten me so soon? I thought I had left a rather deep impression on you!" Austin said with a smile.
Goosebumps crawled up my arms, and the sudden ’resurrection’ of Austin frightened me so much that I unconsciously tugged at the corner of my mouth, speaking in an evasive tone, "Because of your death, Donald nearly collapsed several times, and now you’re telling me you’re still alive? Ha! You’re really a bunch of terrifying and twisted maniacs!"
I said, and then burst into an abrupt laugh, feeling as if I too was going mad.
"Do you have any more ’surprises’ to tell me? Perhaps now is the time! Is Licia here too? Why doesn’t she come out and see me?"
Seemingly satisfied with my current state of disarray, Lillian took Austin’s arm with a raised chin and a mocking smile, "What’s the rush? Aunt Licia is busy with something right now, she’ll come to see you later."
My suspicions were confirmed by her words, and I looked down, laughing bitterly without saying more.
Brand was the first to notice that something was wrong with me. He looked at me with great concern and, after some thought, spoke directly to the man standing last in the crowd, who had been silent all along, "Haven’t you noticed that Margaret’s condition is off? If you truly want her dead, you might as well leave her unattended! Even feeble, foolish humans have rules against mistreating captives, is that all the scope you have, Rebels?"
Lillian laughed at Brand’s words and looked up and down at him, amused.
"Your intentions are too obvious. The fact that we haven’t killed Margaret is testament to our kindness. What makes you think we would treat her wounds? Kids are just too naive." Lillian spoke, and even scoffed disdainfully, but the next moment, her facial expression froze in place.
Henry gestured toward Aiden beside him with a casual tone, "Clean up the wounds on her face, and try not to kill her too easily."
"Have you lost your mind, Henry? Why would you treat her wounds? Have you forgotten who put those bullets in you?" Lillian asked, perplexed, looking at Henry as if he were a madman.
Henry didn’t even spare her a glance, just lifted the corners of his lips, and coldly said, "Do I need to explain my actions to you? You seem to be losing sight of your place. By what authority are you questioning me?"
Lillian closed her mouth upon hearing this, seemingly a bit wary of Henry at that moment, and she gripped Austin’s hand tighter.
Austin seemed to have changed a lot. He no longer protected Lillian with meticulous care as he did before, and he appeared accustomed to Lillian’s unrestrained and blunt attitude.
Aiden walked over with a medical kit and began to kneel down to clean the wound on my forehead.
The alcohol-soaked gauze was pressed mercilessly onto my wound, and the sharp pain made me grunt softly, as my face flushed red quickly!
I glared coldly at Aiden, with no doubt in my mind that he was doing it on purpose.
"My apologies, Your Highness, I am not a professional Medical Practitioner, so my treatment might be a bit crude. Please bear with it for a moment!"
Aiden’s eyes were full of provocation and mockery. As he spoke, he pressed the object against me again. I shivered and laughed coldly, "Then you are indeed very unprofessional. I wonder how someone deemed a ’genius with potions’ like MASTER ever saw potential in you, to have you as his subordinate."
