Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 289: Nora’s Blessing
[Margaret’s POV]
Listening to Nora’s words full of care and affection, all the doubts in my heart dispersed in an instant, leaving only the warmth of being deeply loved by my mother.
Although I hadn’t received as much love from them as Elizabeth did growing up, they were still my only parents, and I didn’t truly resent them—I still loved them.
Especially my mother, the gentlest and kindest therapist of the Silver Moon Pack. Of course, she was also the most outstanding therapist in the pack!
I nodded obediently, looking at her with a smile, "Thank you, Mom, but I’m really fine now! The doctors in the Royal City are very skilled, I am truly all healed."
Although Nora’s suggestion was declined by me like this, she wasn’t the least bit angry; my mother was always so understanding.
She looked at me and sighed softly, saying tenderly, "Well, as long as you’re fine, that’s the best news. Your dad and I can truly relax now."
Nora let go of her hand and looked up at Donald standing beside me, continuing, "You’ve taken very good care of Margaret, thank you. But I hope she won’t get hurt again! You might not know, but Margaret has been particularly sensitive to pain since she was young; she feels pain more acutely than most people."
Listening to Nora’s words, I blinked my big eyes and subconsciously looked up at Donald.
Donald tightened his grip on my hand a bit, his expression becoming more serious and solemn. He nodded, vowing solemnly, "I understand, Mom! From this moment, until the end of my true life, I will do everything in my power to protect Margaret and prevent her from any harm!"
"If I fail, I’m willing to suffer a hundred, a thousand times over, the same pain as she would endure..."
"Donald! That’s enough, let it be, don’t say anymore!" I quickly intervened to stop Donald’s intent to continue, looking into his eyes, shaking my head to indicate enough, no more words were necessary.
Donald highly valued promises being a Lycan King of his word, I knew he would fulfill everything he said, but that was not the situation I wanted to see!
Life is unpredictable; who knows if we will experience other accidents in the future?
But if that day really does come, I definitely don’t want Donald punishing himself the way he vowed! I don’t wish to see that happen.
I love him, and I’m willing to do a lot for him, without needing him to "repay" me by punishing himself. I don’t want such a repayment.
Donald should know that’s how I feel, but he wasn’t planning to give up on making this vow to my mother!
He looked at me, his face breaking into a gentle smile, "It’s okay, baby, I am willing to make this promise to Mom, to use my life to guard and protect you!"
"If I fail, I’m willing to endure a hundred, a thousand times the pain as you do. To live and die with you, united in heart and never parting! If I break this vow, may the Moon Goddess deliver the harshest punishment upon me."
I was stunned that Donald would make such a solemn vow and just stared at him for a long while until Nora spoke in a gentle tone, bringing me back to my senses.
"Although this wasn’t my ultimate intention, you’ve already made your vow, and I’m willing to believe that you will take good care of my daughter."
"Margaret is a good child, and you are very fine as well. I hope that from now on, you will support each other, understand each other, and always live in happiness and safety," said Nora.
I turned to look at my mother, feeling the corners of my eyes grow slightly moist and my heart unbearably soft and warm.
Though Frantz didn’t speak much, he continuously looked at me with a smiling gaze, filled entirely with blessings.
In this moment, I felt like the happiest person in the world, having such loving parents and the love of my life, Donald, by my side.
"I understand, Mom!"
"Thank you, Mom."
Donald and I almost said in unison.
At our words, Nora smiled, looking very pleased as she nodded at the sight of me and Donald standing together, and suddenly, some incredibly hot liquid slid from her eyes!
They must have been tears of joy and relief.
I hadn’t expected the events of this evening to unfold like this, but the arrival of Nora and Frantz seemed to further solidify the reality of mine and Donald’s upcoming wedding.
Yes, I knew the wedding plans were underway, but my sense of participation wasn’t strong. I had gambled everything on returning to the Royal City with Donald, and besides him, there wasn’t anyone or anything else familiar to me.
My heart had always been somewhat floating, but in this moment, it truly settled down to earth.
I never realized how important the blessings of Nora and Frantz were to me!
