Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 290: Transformation
[Margaret’s POV]
These past few days, 7:30 PM had been the time Benjamin set for my daily medication.
I composed my somewhat excited emotions and smiled, gently patting Nora’s hand, signaling that I needed to step away for a bit.
Nora glanced at me and softly suggested, "Shall I come with you? I’d like to meet this impressive therapist, his name is Benjamin, right?"
Upon hearing Nora’s suggestion, I hesitated for a second but agreed without much delay. It wasn’t a big deal, so I responded, "Yes, mother, let’s go together. Taking the medicine won’t take long."
As I spoke, I turned to look at Donald, giving him a look that said we would be right back.
Nora glanced at Frantz, said something to him, and then stood up to follow me out.
Eastern Shine Palace, the place where Benjamin usually worked.
Unexpectedly, when I had finished and came out of the inner room, I encountered Licia and her servants in the Eastern Shine Palace.
Licia was speaking quietly with Benjamin. Seeing Nora and me emerge from the medication room, the somber expression on her face quickly cleared, leaving only a warm, gentle smile.
She looked at me and Nora, greeting us softly, "I had already prepared a welcoming feast for Lady Nora and Mr. Frantz in the dining room. I just came to see if you were done here."
Licia said, smiling kindly at Nora and then turned her gaze to me, "How are you? Your shoulder should be much better now, right? Benjamin told me you’re almost fully recovered, aren’t you?"
At her words, I nodded and replied with a light laugh, "Yes, mother, it’s almost healed."
"So, you were just discussing my situation with Benjamin. I’m truly embarrassed that you’ve been so worried about me! You must have been quite busy these days?" I continued without pause, my gaze falling on Benjamin.
Their conversation clearly hadn’t revolved around me, a sudden intuition telling me so.
I was actually quite curious about what Licia and Benjamin had been discussing, but obviously, they had no intention of telling anyone else.
I’m not sure if I was being overly sensitive, but, after the arguments with Lillian earlier that afternoon, I felt that Licia seemed somewhat different to me...
"Not very busy, I rather like this feeling," Licia replied to my question, stepping forward to gently pull my hand, though her eyes were looking at Nora.
With a smile, she added, "Now that Lady Nora and Mr. Frantz are in the Royal City to lend a hand, there are more and more people to help me, and I certainly don’t feel tired anymore. I’m really looking forward to what comes next!"
At Licia’s words, Nora smiled gently, but she didn’t reply.
I nodded very obediently and replied, "If there’s anything you need help with, mother, you just have to tell me, and I will assist you. My mom might not be familiar with all the Royal Family’s protocols, so she might not handle such matters well."
"Of course, I also need you to teach me many things to avoid making mistakes during the grand ceremony."
Having added that last remark, I looked at the two ladies beside me with a beaming smile.
Nora neither agreed nor disagreed with my words, while Licia never directly denied my requests. She replied, "These matters are trivial; a bright girl like you is sure to learn them quickly. Well, let’s not just stand around talking here, we should hurry back and take our seats. Donald must be getting anxious waiting!" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
As Licia spoke, she turned to lead Nora and me out, but I suddenly spoke up, interrupting her, "Oops! Where’s my phone?"
"Did you lose your phone? Could it be back in the medication room?" Nora suggested aloud.
I thought briefly and nodded, "It must be in the medication room. I should go back and get it. Mom, you go ahead with her, I will be right there."
Hearing this, Nora looked at me a bit reproachfully, as if frustrated by my forgetfulness, "Alright, make it quick. Don’t keep everyone waiting too long."
As Nora led Licia away, I turned and headed back to the room.
My phone was indeed left inside, and I hadn’t lied to Licia and Nora about it, but walking behind by choice wasn’t just for this reason.
I wanted to ask Benjamin some questions.
..."You’re wondering who now resides in the building on the far west of the Eastern Shine Palace? I’m really not sure, I’m sorry Your Majesty, I can’t help you with this," Benjamin said, clutching a book in his hands, trying hard to remember, but upon realizing he really didn’t know, he turned to me with a somewhat apologetic expression.
