Chapter 288: Arrived at Royal City

[Margaret’s POV]

Lillian, standing before me now, naturally had no significant status, but after all, she was a junior whom Licia had liked and valued. How could an ordinary servant dare to hit her outright?

Thus, this maid must be one of Licia’s more capable attendants. As for why she appeared here first, this indeed was a question worth my deep contemplation.

With Alpha Austin dead and the Windstorm Pack weakened, Lillian also promptly lost all the backing she could rely on. Licia still valued Lillian so greatly, surely there was something beyond my knowledge going on here.

Perhaps, Licia wasn’t completely satisfied with me, the definitive Lycan Queen. I pondered over these thoughts in my heart, feeling inexplicably gloomy.

However, I quickly adjusted myself, and after a light sigh, I asked the maid, "Are you saying this isn’t the first time Lillian has tried to run away? Among those mother sent to guard her, isn’t there anyone more capable?"

I said this with a gentle smile, then continued suggesting, "Her status is rather special now. Until mother figures out what to do with her, you must keep a good watch over her and not let her escape."

"If you need any help, I can arrange for some Lycans to come over. This would ease your burden, and mother wouldn’t have to worry about this anymore either, right?"

After hearing my words, the maid pondered deeply for a moment before nodding and responding, "Thank you, Your Highness, for your consideration for us. We do need such help. My name is Martha, and I hope to relieve Your Highness of worries in the future."

Seeing this maid named Martha getting on track, the smile on my face slowly widened.

I nodded and did not continue speaking, but turned to look at the ground where Lillian lay, speaking indifferently, "Considering how pitiful you’ve been lately, I’ll overlook your recent insult. But make no mistake, I am not to be trifled with."

"My earlier words stand as they are, your brother’s death has nothing to do with me and Donald. Don’t be rashly incited by others and misplace your hatred."

Lillian quietly listened to me till the end, her expression slowly turning odd.

She bowed her head as if to hide something and after a long while, she bit her teeth stubbornly and said, "Do you think I’ll let you go just because you said this? Think again! The suffering I endured today, I will return to you sooner or later. We shall see."

I looked at this woman as if I were looking at a madman, sighed silently, and then said, "It seems you’ve been severely poisoned by the other side. Oh well, trying to discuss things with an idiot like you is truly a waste of my time."

Having said this, I shifted my gaze away from Lillian and slowly walked away from the place.

Lillian, unwilling to accept my assessment, kept staring at my back, mumbling some meaningless accusations.

I didn’t care about her reaction; my mind was heavy as I made my way back to the Eastern Shine Palace, where Donald also arrived at that time, followed by a group of weary-looking people!

It was Frantz and Nora, who after hustling along, finally reached the Royal City.

"Oh, my dear Margaret! Daddy has missed you terribly these past few months! Are you alright, my child? You seem to have lost quite some weight. Are your injuries healed? Mom and I were so worried as we traveled here!"

The middle-aged werewolf man who spoke had a handsome and upright appearance, but his steady gaze held complexities that I couldn’t quite interpret. He was my father—Frantz, who always favored my sister. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Donald, who seemed to have already seen my father’s ’overwhelmingly warm’ personality, simply stepped forward and held my hand, his eyes smiling at me.

It had indeed been a long time since I saw my parents, and the gloominess I felt a while ago cleared up at this moment.

I smiled at my dad and replied, "I missed you and mom too! It must have been tough traveling all this way, wasn’t it?"

At this, Frantz nodded vigorously, just about to tell me in detail about the hardships along the way, when Nora, my beautiful and gentle mother, quickly caught his hand to pause him.

Nora looked carefully at me as if I were someone she barely knew. I looked back at her, my eyes questioning.

"Your complexion still looks somewhat pale; let me check your wounds later."

She said this with a gentle smile, stepped forward, and grabbed my somewhat cold hand, continuing, "I have brought back some very good medicine from outside, which can help you heal faster."
