Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 275: Brother and sister affection is deep
[Donald’s POV]
I was very satisfied with Margaret’s answer, and I bent down to kiss her somewhat pale cheek, smiling softly as I cooed, "I love you, Margaret. Get some sleep, baby, you need plenty of rest right now."
Margaret had no objections to my suggestion and nodded her head slightly before slowly closing her eyes.
I think she must have been feeling tired already, only she didn’t show any signs of it earlier because Henry had been here the whole time.
Actually, seeing Margaret just now arguing her point with Henry made me very happy!
As the most prestigious king of the Wolf royal family, I am burdened with too many responsibilities and obligations, and although the people around me respect and fear me, very few love me with such attentive detail!
Even Licia rarely protects me unconditionally and childishly.
In Margaret’s eyes, I seem to be a child who needs a lot of protection. It’s a strange and rare feeling, but unexpectedly not displeasing, and I even like this feeling of being protected unconditionally!
It appears this is how Margaret shows her love, and I believe I have discovered a tremendous treasure for myself.
In the quiet and warm environment of the hospital room, Margaret soon fell asleep. Listening to her long, gentle breathing, I bent down again to kiss her beautiful brow, and then I got up and left the room.
I gently closed the door behind me and glancing to the side, I saw several Lycan guards poised in the hallway. I said in a deep, slow voice, "Apart from Dr. Ace and myself, no one is allowed to enter this room alone. If anything happens, notify me immediately, and I will hurry back."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
Hearing the response of the Lycan guards, I nodded my head and again repeated the instruction ’Keep a good watch here,’ before striding out of the hospital.
At 9:15 pm, Werewolf Palace, Eastern Shine Hall.
Although it was already quite late, the hall was still brightly lit, which indirectly indicated that tonight would not be peaceful.
Clark, dressed in a cerulean uniform, opened the doors of the hall for me, and I walked in with large steps, listening to Clark’s brief report while scanning with my eyes the Lycan standing in the center of the hall.
"Austin was brought to the Royal City at noon today and has been clamoring to see you in the hospital but both Christian and I stopped him. Since then, he has been standing in the hall, refusing to go downstairs or speak with anyone. This caused the Empress Dowager and the council of elders to come over!"
Hearing the mention of a person who should not be present in such situations, I looked down at Clark and asked in a quiet voice, "Why is the Empress Dowager here? Where is she?"
Clark visibly inhaled sharply at my question, his expression difficult and unpleasant as he quickly reported, "Because Alpha Austin was not brought here by the city patrol team alone, his sister—Lillian—was with him!"
"After arriving at the Royal City, Miss Lillian first tried to find out the news about you and the Lycan Queen through many people. Failing that, she then turned to the Empress Dowager... Your Majesty, you know the Empress Dowager has always been quite fond of Miss Lillian."
"So, that’s why the Empress Dowager is also present here now, is it?" I cut off Clark’s next words and looked towards the people in the hall.
Clark fell silent then, merely bowing his head and leading the way up front.
Although my conversation with Clark was not loud, it immediately drew the attention of everyone in the hall.
"Donald! You’ve finally shown up! Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you today? Why did you let David bring my brother back to the palace? Do you know what people in the Royal City and our pack are saying about my brother? If you can’t give me a reasonable explanation today, I won’t easily forgive you!"
The first to attempt to blame me was none other than Lillian, whose expressions were extremely anxious and her tone unusually agitated.
Her emotions were complex, and when her gaze fell on me, it seemed as though she had gone through a lot of struggle and deliberation.
I didn’t particularly care what Lillian thought, I didn’t even deign to look at her directly, but rather looked at the center of the hall where Alpha Austin stood, silent and meeting my gaze.
"Your Majesty!"
"Good evening, Your Majesty!"
Voices gradually rose around the hall as others greeted me, and I nodded slightly, indicating that everyone need not be overly formal.
Licia, being highly esteemed, was the only one in the hall who could remain seated to greet me.
Simpson then looked at me with a serious face before bowing slightly as a sign of respect.
I was somewhat helpless toward this old fellow who loved to join in the hustle and bustle, but considering his special status as an elder statesman from two generations, I decided to give him another chance...
