Chapter 274: Perfect Monarch

[Margaret’s POV]

Although Donald’s tone wasn’t particularly polite when he said these words, I just knew that he had no intention of holding a grudge over Henry’s matter anymore. π˜§π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘’π˜Έπ˜¦π˜£π‘›π‘œπ˜·π‘’π“.π˜€π˜°π“‚

Donald wasn’t a petty person; the unpleasantness of the night had been resolved, thanks to Henry’s timely apology.

When Henry left the hospital alone, he seemed in relatively good spirits.

I watched the hospital room door gently close and looked up at Donald standing beside me.

The young and handsome Lycan King didn’t seem to be affected by the recent events. After adjusting the blanket over me, he slowly sat down in a nearby chair.

After a moment of thought, I asked, "Are you okay, my dear? Don’t think about those things that upset you anymore, okay? Let’s talk about our own matters!"

Upon hearing my words, Donald raised his beautiful and clear eyes, looking at me tenderly and slyly, "Do I look that unhappy to you?"

I was slightly startled and didn’t immediately grasp what he meant by his question.

However, Donald didn’t really need my answer; he looked at me and let out a soft chuckle, a lot of warmth and sweetness appearing on his face, and his voice grew warmer, "The feelings and matters between Henry and myself are quite complicated, not something that can be explained in a short time. So you don’t have to worry about them; I will take care of everything."

"Angel will no longer obstruct anything between us, I can swear to you right now! The Elders may be annoying and noisy, but they will still handle things fairly and give everyone a just resolution. No one can interfere! Neither Angel’s family behind her nor Henry can manage to..."

As Donald spoke, he gently took hold of my hand, and a look of guilt and compassion filled his eyes. He paused before continuing, "In the matter of punishing Angel, the only one with the power to decide her fate is me! I have the authority to give Angel a chance at life, but I don’t wish to do so."

"In fact, I can’t wait to kill Angel immediately! Only by doing so can I truly alleviate some of the hatred in my heart for her and the guilt towards you. My dearest Margaret, you were always the most innocent in all of these matters, Angel should not have treated you that way!"

Donald’s emotion was slightly agitated as he said these words. His grip on my hand was strong, causing my fingers to start hurting, but I ignored these details, just gently sighing as I looked into his eyes.

I was certainly aware of my innocence in these matters, but I didn’t feel that taking a bullet for Donald was an injustice that required him to kill Angel recklessly to repay or avenge me!

I was just doing my utmost to protect the mate I loved. Beyond that, there was nothing more.

I deeply loved Donald and wished for his lifelong safety and joy. I hoped to be with him forever, and beyond that, I desired nothing more.

Thinking of these things, my eyes began to moisten. Leaning against the pillow, I looked up at him with a smile and reassured him, "The crime Angel committed isn’t just about trying to kill me. In this matter, what you need more is to provide a just resolution to Elliot, as well as to those Lycans who lost their precious lives in the war due to Angel’s last-minute betrayal."

"Avenge me is just incidental to your duties. Please don’t let hatred blind your judgment, okay? I know you are a flawless ruler, and you can easily do this, right?"

Perhaps it was my too-gentle tone of speech at the moment, but Donald’s previously indignant mood quickly calmed down.

He let out a soft sigh, his grip that restrained my hand unconsciously loosened, and he bowed his head to tenderly kiss the palm of my hand, yet he remained silent.

After a while, he finally spoke, "I know what to do now, I am, of course, your impeccable mate!"

With his lips curving into a smile that spread across his face, he looked at me and continued, "What would I become without you by my side? Would I go insane and kill everyone who ever hurt you? That would be too terrible, so please don’t ever leave me, Margaret. And don’t get hurt anymore!"

Seeing Donald calmed down, I let out a sigh of relief, nodded, and said, "I won’t leave you, Donald. We will be together forever, living a happy and perfect life."
