Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 272: The real purpose
[Margaret’s POV]
The young and majestic Lycan King had a light of steadfast belief in his eyes that was truly piercing; I was deeply moved by such a scene and even more so for Henry as the other party involved.
He exchanged a glance with Donald, and there was something in his eyes that I couldn’t quite understand.
After a pause, Henry finally asked hoarsely, "What will you do with Angel next? She grew up with you, will you kill her directly to quell the anger of all the Lycan warriors in the Royal Family?"
I slightly widened my eyes, looking towards the startling Prince Henry.
From the moment Henry entered, he had been steering the conversation with Donald, and at this moment, his real purpose for this visit became truly clear!
His trip to the hospital today wasn’t to meet me, the future Lycan Queen, nor was it to reminisce with his old friend, Donald, but was aimed at Angel, who had been imprisoned in the royal dungeon since last night!
Henry bringing up Angel at this point must be intending to plead with Donald on her behalf.
I’m not quite clear on the stories between Donald, him, and Angel from a long time ago; I only know that some people might have changed over time, and clinging to old loyalties can sometimes be a very foolish act.
Perhaps Angel doesn’t deserve Henry and Donald going through all this trouble for her...
Of course. sentiments like these aren’t suitable for me to express at this time. Angel holds some very special feelings for Donald, and as her romantic rival, it isn’t appropriate to speak ill of her in front of her friend, Henry!
Even if she committed heinous crimes, a disgrace and a criminal to the entire Wolf royal family.
Henry cares deeply about his past relationship with Angel, and Donald cherishes Henry as a brother and good friend. Now that Prince Henry has come forward to intercede, it seems there might still be a slight chance for leniency.
I imagine the Werewolf clan behind Angel must have been very busy these last few days since the crime Angel committed was too grave to be easily dismissed.
Or perhaps, it could no longer be dismissed at all.
Now, it mainly depends on what Donald is thinking.
Considering all this, I gently looked towards the Lycan King, whose shoulder wound seemed to flare up in pain again at this moment!
The gun Angel had pointed at Donald and me was chillingly sinister.
After Henry finished his questions, the hospital room fell into a deathly silence for a moment. I licked my somewhat dry lips, took a few deep breaths, trying to ease the pain of the wound on my shoulder.
"So this is your real purpose for coming here today?" Donald furrowed his brows, looking at the equally solemn Henry, and asked in a stern tone.
Seeing that Henry remained silent and did not answer, Donald scoffed mockingly, then slowly shifted his gaze away, and continued, "I know what you’re thinking, but the severity of this matter isn’t as simple as you think! I have to give everyone a fair explanation and cannot possibly be lenient on her..."
"I wasn’t planning on letting her off either! She can’t expect to get away with all the evil she has done; I will make sure she pays the proper price," Donald said.
As he spoke, the mocking expression on his face had completely faded, leaving only seriousness, "So you can go back and directly inform Angel’s family that I have handed over this matter entirely to the council of elders, who will be responsible for judging all of Angel’s crimes, with no room for negotiation or personal favors!"
Hearing this, Henry seemed to want to say something more, but seeing the uncompromising expression on Donald’s face, he ultimately fell silent, aware that he had undertaken a thankless task!
After speaking, Donald turned to look at him again, the corners of his mouth slightly curled, but without any genuine smile, "In fact, they should feel fortunate that I don’t currently intend to settle scores with Angel’s family power behind her..."
"So before I find it necessary to settle this matter, let them all behave and stop any scheming, understood?"
Henry raised his eyes to meet Donald’s, his expression looking almost calm, but it was impossible to discern what he was really thinking.
I silently watched all of this unfold, wondering whether to speak up at this moment to ease the tension in the atmosphere; after all, the atmosphere between Donald and Henry was incredibly stiff, quite intimidating to witness.
But before I could decide whether to speak or not, the Werewolf Prince had already taken a step back, bowing to the Lycan King!
