Chapter 260: Negotiation

[Margaret’s POV]

As Donald’s forceful words hit the ground, I even saw some subtle, but very eerie, muscle twitching on Angel’s face!

She was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly burst into hysterical laughter, looking as though she had gone completely mad. "Hahaha! Donald, you truly are the man I took an interest in. Facing death, yet still so arrogant and confident."

"You don’t think I dragged these disabled Lycans all the way from the Silver Moon Pack back here just to prepare a surprise for you, do you?"

"When did you become so naive? Could it be that you were infected by that whore by your side? Hahaha, I told you she would drag you down, and yet you chose to believe that whore you’ve only known for less than three months over my sincere advice!"

Angel snorted coldly, tilted her chin up, stared at Donald, and scornfully continued, "Well, it doesn’t matter anymore. We’ve come this far, and talking more about it is pointless! However, on account of these Lycans who had once trained with me, I’m going to ensure they die enlightened and I will plan a way out for them..."

This woman’s way of speaking is so disorganized now, it’s truly difficult to guess what she really wants to do. I furrowed my brows and coldly watched her, waiting for her to reveal her ultimate goal!

Just as Angel said, they wouldn’t have gone to such lengths just to ambush our convoy and provoke the Wolf royal family—it’s not that simple.

Our palace convoy was tightly guarded and protected by many exceptional Lycan warriors. Despite the savagery of their rogue army, they are but a ragtag bunch. Indeed, breaking through the defenses of the army under Donald’s command was no simple feat.

This development in their attack is exactly why MASTER and Angel couldn’t afford to return without accomplishing anything, thus resulting in the current scenario!

They are scheming, and their wicked plans are interlinked.

The idle talk she pulled with me and Donald was merely to gain some leverage in the upcoming negotiations, whether for tangible benefits or for her personal demeanor!

While discussing, Angel suddenly paused. The scorn on her face disappeared at that moment, and her previously beautiful face turned dreadfully pale, completely devoid of color. She continued to glare into my eyes, filled with malice, "To trade Margaret’s worthless life for the lives of so many Lycan warriors, Donald, today you have struck a good deal!"

As she said these words, her eyes were fixed on me, but her words were directed at Donald!

Angel’s demand was not far off from what I had braced myself a second earlier. I listened to her state their negotiation terms with utmost calmness.

However, Donald, standing beside me, was not as composed and rational!

"You know that’s impossible, I will not agree to your demands! And, what makes you think you have the right to negotiate with me?" Donald firmly rejected Angel’s terms, his expression chilling enough to freeze someone solid.

He smirked slightly as he spoke, a smirk filled with sarcasm and disdain, "If MASTER himself were here today, perhaps there would be a need for discussion. But you, Angel? You’re not worthy of negotiating with me."

"A traitor who forsakes her own family and beliefs, what right do you have to stand before me and speak so grandly? The traitors are what we in the Wolf royal family despise the most."

"That you can still bounce around here today just shows your former good luck, and MASTER really isn’t choosy, keeping any trash by his side!"

As Donald’s judgmental words slipped from his mouth, the expression of the judged could be described as richly varied.

I hadn’t realized before how adept Donald was at verbal attack; he was practically grilling Angel over the coals in front of all these Lycans!

Although what he said was the truth, clearly Angel didn’t see it that way.

Angel probably thought Donald had wronged her, and she became what she is today because of being backed into a corner by me and Donald. She perceived herself as the most pitiable victim in these events.

"No! That’s not how it really happened. I did all of this to be with you, Donald. Why are you so heartless? You should know why I did what I did!" As Angel’s emotions spiraled out of control, she took two steps forward as if trying to get closer to Donald.

Still motionless, I watched Angel across from me, feeling infinitely tense and a momentary complexity.

Yet, Donald remained the same skilled and rational war strategist, knowing that this was a good opportunity...
