Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 255: Massive Attack by Rogue
[Margaret’s POV]
"They’ve always been brutally evil, lacking any organizational obedience. What kind of person or organization could possibly gather them together, willing to dedicate their lives to it?"
Benjamin’s puzzled murmur woke me up. I widened my eyes, looked at him, swallowed my saliva, and asked, "You also think this is very strange, don’t you? They seemed to have planned in advance, setting a trap for us to fall into! How did they know about our secret mission? Why were they sure we would take this route?"
"This area is the junction between the Palace and the Windstorm Pack. Their large-scale ambush here, why didn’t it attract any attention from either side? This attack is too unusual! Or to put it more directly, aren’t they being too bold?"
As I spoke, I began to doubt the real purpose of these people again!
If their only goal was to stop us from escorting Elliot back to the Palace for medical attention, then why didn’t they act before we met up with Donald?
Isn’t Starry Ravine an excellent ambush site?
Or is their real target not Elliot at all, but rather any one of us, including Donald and me?
Or perhaps they are here to provoke the entire Wolf royal family!
When this thought rose from the depths of my heart, I was startled.
I shook my head, trying to dismiss this outrageous idea, but another intuition deep in my mind told me this might be the ultimate answer!
Because apart from this, there was no other reason to explain the current situation. Our Guard Team might have been targeted by the enemies from the very beginning.
Thinking this, I suddenly remembered the beast that attacked the Guard Team in Starry Ravine. Its eyes, glowing with a strange red, wasn’t it just like these rogues attacking us now?
They all seemed like battle monsters that had lost their self-consciousness, knowing only to rush forward and devour the flesh of their enemies!
"Do you think these people, like those ambushers before, were lured by an enemy with potions, determined not to give up until their goal is achieved?" I asked Benjamin.
Hearing my speculation, Benjamin’s expression slowly froze.
He pondered for a while, gently shook his head, and said, "It doesn’t seem likely. These rogues are different from those ambushers. They are much more impulsive and reckless, and they don’t have the kind of potions that could rapidly enhance their combat abilities. They probably don’t belong to the same person..."
Benjamin spoke and then immediately contradicted himself, as if he couldn’t figure out some key point, "That doesn’t seem entirely accurate, either. We need to capture a few more prisoners and interrogate them thoroughly! It would be best to capture their leader to extract more useful information."
I looked at Benjamin, his eyebrows furrowed, and decided not to trouble him further with this problem. As a researcher and thinker like him, it must be painful not to be able to unravel the puzzle right in front of him, right?
My attention returned to Donald, who then issued a few commands, all of which were precise and perfect military orders. He was like a born military strategist, a beacon of faith firmly believed in by all soldiers when standing on the battlefield!
As time gradually passed, the attack-defense battle centered around the RV heated up. Donald’s defensive orders were absolutely right, and it was impossible for the enemy to break through the perimeter in a short time, making the area where Elliot and I were the safest on the field.
The enemy’s battle commander seemed to have gradually realized this. They stopped pursuing the tactic of a mass charge and began to shift forms, trying to utilize the agile and fluid wolf form to dodge the gunfire on the field and break through to our location! 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Our convoy, including Ruth and me, had only 58 people. Compared to the endless stream of rogues, we seemed to have no advantage. Our ammunition was limited, and the battle wouldn’t end before we ran out.
So, as time trickled away, this modern medieval warfare soon returned to its primitive state. The fight among the Lycans was based on claws and teeth, which was no different now!
With a command from Donald, the Lycans surrounding the outermost perimeter of the convoy instantly completed their shift, and soon tangled with the enemy’s rogues.
They were Lycans fighting one against ten, unafraid of such bloody combat, even more, excited and thrilled by it.
Thus, with Lycans in wolf form leading the combat and those still armed covering them with gunfire,
this well-coordinated battle mode soon severely weakened the enemy. The ground was covered with the bodies and blood of rogues, and the air was filled with a nauseating smell of blood...
