Chapter 244: Lillian

[Margaret’s POV]

Because the moment Austin saw Donald extending his hand to me gently, he had already categorized me into the rival camp of his sister’s foes!

He was extremely familiar with it, as if he had handled countless similar situations before.

"Little fool Lillian, I have told you over and over again, you can’t address His Majesty as ’brother’ like that!"

"Even though you two could be considered companions who have grown up together since childhood, you ought to be sovereign and subject now, at the very least. And besides, I am your real brother!"

In a pretended disgruntled manner, Austin reminded Lillian, and by the end of his speech, he even cast a ’jealous’ glance at Donald, seemingly uncomfortable with the Lycan King stealing his sister’s attention.

From the concise words he previously uttered, I could tell that his sister, Lillian, seemed to care quite a bit about Donald.

It turned out that Angel wasn’t the only beautiful girl who had grown up with Donald; we hadn’t even truly arrived at the Werewolf Palace yet, and we had already bumped into another of his close female friends!

I felt slightly uncomfortable, but not enough to be overtly jealous on the spot. It was merely an ambiguous use of ’brother,’ which indicated that Donald probably didn’t have any feelings for this Lillian.

"You are my real brother, and of course, that’s not comparable to Donald! Humph, I won’t talk to you anymore. Donald himself doesn’t mind, so why are you scolding me like this? Be careful, or I’ll complain to mom!"

Lillian, in a spoiled tone, stepped forward, her fair, slender hands gently crossed in front of her chest, tilting her chin up and coquettishly speaking to Austin, yet her stunning eyes remained fixed on Donald.

She seemed to have not noticed me sitting next to Donald the entire time.

"When did I ever scold you? Am I not just reminding you, you little rascal? Come on, please don’t be so willful, alright?"

Austin sighed lightly and then, helplessly rising to his feet, went over to greet Lillian, "Behave yourself, come here and pay respects to His Majesty... and the Lycan Queen. Don’t let everyone think you have been so spoiled by me that you lack the most basic etiquette!"

Austin paused for a moment after speaking, as if the word ’Lycan Queen’ was very difficult for him to utter.

I watched the siblings with a detached expression, yet my mind was on another person. Lillian’s personality indeed resembled Elizabeth’s, except she wasn’t as beautiful as Elizabeth.

It appeared that my sister, who besides her beauty had no redeeming qualities, wasn’t someone just anyone could surpass.

However, promptly, Lillian’s sharp questioning shattered my momentary trance, and Donald held my hand under the table, his eyes filled with a bit of worried questioning.

"What? You are saying this woman is Donald’s Lycan Queen?" Lillian asked in a high-pitched voice, her expression changing in an instant, with impolite scrutiny filling her wide eyes and then swiftly followed by a flicker of sarcasm and disdain.

"Are you joking, brother? Donald never had a girlfriend before, so how could he suddenly have a queen? Your joke isn’t funny at all," she said.

Lillian looked towards Donald and me behind the main table, mainly at Donald, as if she was waiting for a precise response from him.

"This matter has not been formally announced to everyone because our return to the Palace needs to remain confidential for now. It’s normal that you are not aware of it."

Donald answered Lillian and Austin’s questions but never looked up at them from beginning to end.

As he spoke, he squeezed my hand and slowly stood up, his body leaning towards mine, "I would like to officially introduce to the Windstorm Pack my mate Margaret, the highly esteemed Lycan Queen of the Wolf royal family."

As he spoke, he glanced sideways at Austin and Lillian standing below, his countenance filled with pleasure and joy, and yet, more than anything, with respect and certainty.

I knew Donald was affirming my status as the ’Lycan Queen’, and my heart felt immeasurably warm and soft, as I looked up at him with eyes full of smiling affection!

This is my God-like mate, who would be the first to stand up when others doubted me, attempting to look down and provoke me, utterly reliable.

Taking a deep breath, I gently squeezed his hand in return, and when I turned my gaze back to Austin and his sister below, the entire aura about me had completely shifted. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

I didn’t know when it began, but the aura about me was becoming more and more like Donald’s. The majestic and authoritative presence inherent in his bloodline seemed to have also infused some of its essence onto me.

Looking down at the girl with a face full of shock and surprise, I slightly curved my lips and said somewhat distantly, "Hello Lillian, my name is Margaret."

Lillian’s dumbfoundedness broke with my words, and as she looked up to meet my gaze, she let out a heavy breath as if she found it quite hard to accept, "You say you are His Majesty’s mate? Ha! A she-wolf who popped up from nowhere dares shamelessly claim to be Donald’s queen? I think you’re just mad for glory and wealth!"
