Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 236: Fight
[Margaret’s POV]
Now, I had no other thoughts besides wanting everyone to survive and walk out of this gorge alive—that was all that mattered.
But even such a small wish, it seemed that the heavens did not intend for me to fulfill it.
Our losses had already occurred without us realizing!
A Lycan beside Louis was sent flying by a tiger, and before he could even cry out in pain, he had heavily crashed against the rock wall and then fell to the ground motionless.
My eyes widened instantly, and I had the urge to go over and check on him, but Benjamin and Louis’ shouts instantly woke me from that moment’s clarity.
They almost simultaneously yelled out a reminder to shoot:
"Lycan Queen! Get down! Raise your gun and shoot!"
"Now! Shoot its belly!"
In the recent times, my combat skills and response ability in battle had significantly improved. Apart from my intensive training, being marked by Donald was certainly a reason for my rapid progress.
I was no longer my former self; I could now ensure my own safety and even contribute in some simple battles, like this moment!
I crouched down decisively, the action of firing my gun even faster than my brain’s neural commands.
The tiger, cornered by Louis and Benjamin on either side, had its huge eyes fixed on the Lycan in front of it. It slightly lowered its body and its sturdy hind legs firmly gripped the ground—a signal that it was about to attack.
After a short growl, its entire body suddenly lunged towards the Lycan, its gaping mouth aimed at the Lycan’s neck!
I guessed this beast was somewhat clever, as it had chosen the smallest in size among the Lycans and the closest to it as its target.
The moment Benjamin and Louis shouted their warnings, I had already rolled into the mud on the ground, squinting as I pulled the trigger of my tranquilizer gun.
The sound of the arrow tearing through the air vanished in the rain, and I stared unblinkingly as the tiger roared in pain upon being shot!
I hit the beast with my first shot, but it still pounced on the Lycan. I swallowed hard and fired again; since the distance between me and the Lycan was very close, this shot even struck the tiger’s eye after it had knocked down the Lycan and hit the ground!
It cried out in pain, its gaping mouth no longer paying attention to the Lycan beneath it, and with an arrow-struck head, it lunged at me again.
My heart stopped in fright, and driven by my brain’s survival instinct, my body finished shifting in an instant, and I rolled away from harm!
The nauseating smell of its bloody breath had already sprayed onto my cheek, brushing close to the hair on my face.
This was indeed a narrow escape! I had practically performed a miraculous act of survival. Watching this scene unfold, Louis and Benjamin were almost scared to death.
I think I must have been terrified too, because after Betty had rolled away, her hind legs trembled slightly and she nearly didn’t manage to stand firm!
<That scared me to death! I thought it had bitten me. It really charged directly at you—that thing sure holds a grudge!> Betty murmured in immense shock.
Of course, the beast held a grudge. I had shot it twice, each shot more severe than the last! Even abandoning the Lycan that was close at hand, it tried to bite through my neck.
The tranquilizer took effect quickly within the tiger’s body, and seeing its staggering steps, I knew our plan had succeeded!
I glanced sideways at Benjamin and Louis and whispered softly, "The drug’s taking effect. Let’s all go at once and try to kill it right here!"
After saying this, I was the first to crouch down and charge forward, but a shout from behind suddenly made my mind reel, and I involuntarily turned back to look! 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
I think this silvery figure will leave an indelible mark in the river of my life going forward.
The shocking shout that had dazed me came from Donald; when I saw the concern and surprise in his beautiful, deep wolf eyes, he had already reached in front of me, likely terrified.
"Margaret?! Get out of the way!"
Donald’s sudden appearance froze me in place, completely unaware of the beast staggering two meters away, refusing to fall!
As it slowly approached my direction, my eyes held only Donald.
I was harshly knocked aside by Donald, while he was struck on the shoulder by the tiger’s paw!
I cried out his name desperately, my feet instantly gripping the ground, and my body curved like an arrow sprung from a bow, fiercely counterattacking.
Accompanying my movement were Louis and Benjamin, and somewhat behind them was Anthony.
