Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 237: God-like Arrival
[Margaret’s POV]
"Donald!"
"Your Majesty!"
I felt as though I had thrown myself onto a robust beast, but all that occupied my mind was the sight of Donald’s shoulder, slightly bleeding.
As if telepathically connected, I nearly transformed into my human form together with Donald.
I knelt down, drained of strength on the muddy road, and just as I was about to lift my head and check his shoulder, I was pulled into a warm, broad embrace the next second.
"I was really going crazy, Margaret! Can you please not leave my side again?"
Donald’s warm breath caressed my ear, and I trembled slightly, barely noticeable, feeling my eyes grow hot and wet as something scalding began to flow.
My tears mixed with the rain and blood soaking Donald’s neck. He held me tightly, as if trying to crush and meld me into his flesh to ensure we could never be separated again!
I missed him too, my mate had descended from the heavens like a God, saving me from the brink of death once more.
This almost cruel reality sent a chill through me, for without Donald’s intervention, I suspected that my encounter with the beast might have ended with more than just a shattered shoulder...
Even though its nerves were numbed by the tranquilizer, its combat prowess was not something a wolf of my stature could challenge, and at that moment I had foolishly thought about taking it down directly. I must have been slightly mad.
As for the fact that the tiger was ultimately subdued and pinned to the ground by me and a host of Lycans, I suppose that can only be explained by my desperate concern and sudden burst of strength in battle.
As Donald held me and we slowly walked back to the caravan, I looked back at the beast lying on the ground, gasping for breath.
The lying beast looked much larger than when it stood, and a surge of fear overwhelmed me, causing me to clutch the corner of Donald’s shirt that was touching me.
"Are you shivering, Margaret? Are you scared, or are you ill?" Donald asked softly as he led me into the caravan. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
I shook my head and looked up at him, seeing my haggard reflection in his gray-green eyes, my eyes grew hot again, "I’m fine, Donald. I just missed you so much!"
Donald’s eyes filled with pain as he gazed at me. He bowed his head and gently kissed my forehead, then my slightly reddened eyes, and finally licked the tears off my face.
This tender and affectionate gesture made my heart soften, and clutching his neck, I started to weep softly, "Why did it take you so long to catch up? Don’t you know how worried I was when I couldn’t reach you?"
"Elliot’s injuries suddenly worsened, and the situation was too critical at that moment. Benjamin and I were utterly helpless! Donald, I didn’t know what to do, I couldn’t just let Elliot die before my eyes!"
"I was so afraid something would happen to you in the Misty Forest, but I had to force myself to trust you, to believe in our rapport. Today has been so exhausting, Donald. Did you go through days like this before? I never want to be apart from you again!"
I cried out all the unease and fear I harbored within me that day, letting my emotions flood out in Donald’s arms, as if this God-like man was the sole pillar of my spirit, without whom I couldn’t survive on my own.
And indeed, it seemed to be the case. All my pent-up emotions had collapsed the moment I saw Donald, reasonlessly and utterly. This was even more thrilling and grievous than the last time I had escaped from Angel’s clutches.
Donald held me tight, and words of comfort and love never ceased from his lips. After about three minutes, I regained a bit of my composure, organizing my shattered emotions and looking up at Donald’s somewhat pale face.
Thinking of his injury, I restrained myself and sat up straight from his embrace, turning my head to look at his shoulder, "Sorry, I lost control of my emotions for a bit. How is your shoulder? I’ll go and call Benjamin to take a look at it!"
Just as I was about to rise, Donald grasped my wrist, "It’s nothing, we can look at it later. Just sit with me for a while. They’ll come over after handling things outside, there’s no need to remind them specially."
The warm temperature of Donald’s palm heated my wrist, and I couldn’t resist his request, especially when those deep, beautiful eyes looked only at me.
I grasped his hand back, my eyes red as I obediently nodded my head, agreeing to his suggestion, while my peripheral vision only now noticed the inside of the caravan, where Ruth, silent and head down, had watched my breakdown in front of the small infirmary where Elliot had lain all day.
I realized she had seen me collapse in tears and momentarily felt a flush of heat and embarrassment.
