Chapter 231: Margaret’s Letter

[Donald’s POV]

After splitting into two groups with Christian, I led the Lycan Guard along with the other Lycan warriors, nearly 40 people in all, and continued marching forward.

Our marching speed was extremely fast, but still, it couldn’t compare with a fast-moving convoy of vehicles. I realized that this wouldn’t do; I needed to find a way to acquire some vehicles. Only then would we have a chance to catch up with the group that Margaret was in.

Fortunately, between Silver Moon Pack and the Palace, there were several relay stations, and I could have the next one arrange some for me.

Without delay, having made up my mind, I tasked Mark with contacting the Lycans at the relay station. Now, I had no other capable subordinates by my side; they had all been dispersed.

Eric had followed my orders and stayed with Silver Moon Pack, primarily responsible for communication between Silver Moon Pack and the Palace. Christian, now burdened with a dozen werewolf prisoners, had also fallen behind us.

Elliot was seriously injured and unconscious, while Benjamin had only been a medic in the assault team before this. For him to step up during a crisis like Louis did and willingly take on the full responsibility and task of the entire Guard Team was already quite remarkable.

I’m gratified that my subordinates are all competent Lycans capable of standing on their own.

Of course, the most important person is Margaret! My mate is such a beautiful and kind girl, delicate and in need of protection, yet now she also had to shouldering her responsibilities as a Lycan Queen!

I’m not angry with Margaret for acting on her own, because she simply wanted to ensure Elliot’s survival.

Ever since she’s been with me, she seems to have become braver and more resolute, which is a good thing, although it always makes me feel heartache for her.

Actually, when I first heard the news, my initial reaction wasn’t anger or outrage, but rather a touch of surprise, followed by a full chest of worry and urgency! 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Having such an empathetic and capable mate, I truly consider myself an incredibly fortunate man.

Margaret, of course, couldn’t know what I was thinking at that moment, but I believe she could sense it, just as she knows I wouldn’t really get angry with her over this matter.

Our understanding of and trust in each other had gradually been building up over this period of time.

After marching through the torrential rain for nearly 2 hours, we finally got the vehicles needed for traveling at the relay station we had contacted in advance.

Jerris stood not far behind us, handling a simple handover with the people from the relay station’s vehicle team, while Mark and I pulled aside the person in charge of this station, asking him some other very important questions.

The person in charge was a very calm-looking Lycan who stood by my side with utmost respect.

I raised my hand to point to the main surveillance at the entrance of their station and asked in a deep voice, "Can that monitor capture all the vehicles that passed by here today? I need all the footage it captured this morning. I’m giving you 5 minutes. Send it directly to my phone, understand?"

The Lycan, seeing the serious expression on my face, didn’t dare to ask anything extra but nodded his head, quickly instructing someone nearby to copy the recordings.

After giving the instructions, I took a closer look at him and suddenly felt he looked familiar, "Have I seen you before? The last time we passed through this relay station, were you the one who received us?"

As if he had not expected at all that I would remember him, the Lycan’s expression became excited, and he frantically nodded, "Yes, Your Majesty! We only met briefly, and I’m so happy that you still remember me!"

I wasn’t too concerned with his excitement, but an idea sparked in my mind, and I continued to ask, "Then you should recognize the black limousine that I rode in last time we came by, right? It should have passed through this entrance this morning. Do you remember it?"

I had only asked casually, with a probing tone, but unexpectedly, I received a response from the person in charge. When I saw him nodding and bowing again, I was even a bit surprised!

"Yes, Your Majesty. I remember the vehicle you mentioned and the convoy that accompanied it."

He took an envelope from another Lycan behind him, extended it towards me with both hands and continued to explain seriously, "In fact, when the Lycan Queen and Lord Benjamin passed by here, they left a letter for you and also instructed us to proactively contact you to inform you of their following route."

"It’s strange to say, I don’t know how the Lycan Queen guessed that you’d come here to look for news afterward. She really is a very smart person."

As I listened to his report, I quickly tore open the envelope.

The handwriting inside was undoubtedly Margaret’s, which I recognized at a glance.
