Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 232: Starry Ravine
[Donald’s POV]
Margaret’s handwriting was exceptionally graceful and beautiful, with a hint of pride hidden within that others simply couldn’t replicate!
I was certain it was Margaret who had written this—as I skimmed through the information, I looked up at the responsible party with furrowed brows and asked with some alarm, "They encountered a heavy downpour right after leaving the Silver Moon Pack, and after receiving the message that the road ahead had collapsed, they had no choice but to reroute to Starry Ravine?"
"It was only when they passed here on their way back that they left this message for us. So, is this why we couldn’t get through to their phones? Your signal tower was damaged by the storm, correct? When will it be back up and running?"
As if caught off guard by the question, he hesitated before nodding and replied, "Yes, Your Majesty, we are currently unable to reach the Queen’s convoy as well. If you wish to proceed despite the rain, I do have a satellite phone you can use."
I patted his shoulder and after a few seconds of silence, I said, "You’ve done well. We need this information... and that satellite phone. But it would have been better if you had told me this the moment I arrived."
After I finished speaking, I turned to Mark and snapped my fingers, loudly commanding, "Take all the equipment, destination Starry Ravine, let’s move."
Upon hearing my command, Mark nodded and solemnly responded, ’Yes,’ then he gave the stationary responsible party a deep look before turning to set the group into motion.
The responsible party seemed shaken by my last word, and Mark’s particularly sharp gaze, taking quite a while to recover.
I gestured for the Lycan warrior in the driver’s seat to get out, then I took his place.
The vehicle was a high-chassis black off-road, perfectly suited for the challenging and variable terrain of Starry Ravine. Mark quickly followed, taking the seat beside me, clutching the invaluable satellite phone, and muttered, "This guy really talks too damn much! If he had reported to us as soon as we arrived, we wouldn’t have wasted these few minutes. His brain must be defective."
Mark was voicing exactly what I was thinking, but I couldn’t afford to dwell on it given our urgent timeline.
I glanced at Mark and expertly started the car, "Keep everyone close, we are racing against time."
After speaking, I glanced at the rearview mirror. The Lycans had already loaded all the prepared supplies on the vehicles, with just a few stragglers yet to board.
I pressed the accelerator, and the sleek black off-road charged into the curtain of rain like a beast that had long been in hiding.
With my lead vehicle setting the pace, the black convoy behind us surged forth in succession, disappearing into the heavy rain. It was only then that the responsible party slowly came to his senses, but all we left him with was a string of our red taillights.
I certainly didn’t care about his fear; I was still pondering why.
If it was just a signal tower malfunction, why were we completely unable to contact Margaret and her group? Could there be something else that I’m unaware of?
Why do Margaret and my mind-link always encounter various strange problems? Even Benjamin and I have never previously been unable to reach each other using mind-link. It was really bizarre.
I thought that after catching up with them later, I would definitely have Benjamin think this situation through and figure out how to clear up and solve this issue!
I absolutely cannot stand the feeling of being cut off from my mate. If not for the pressing situation now, I think I would genuinely lose my mind.
Speaking of our next destination—Starry Ravine, Devil’s Valley inevitably comes to mind.
If it hadn’t been for the terrible weather and the extremely poor road conditions on the highway to the Palace, I think Margaret and her group wouldn’t have considered passing through Starry Ravine.
The name Devil’s Valley might sound a bit terrifying, but the canyon at the very end of this valley, Starry Ravine, is truly very dangerous!
Because of natural geographical reasons, the canyon walls on both sides of Starry Ravine are very narrow and meandering. Apart from some fierce wild animals prowling around, there are also unpredictable rockfalls or mudslides.
If you’re not careful, you might just become a feast for the wild animals in the valley!
Although I finally received information about Margaret, my worries actually deepened instead of easing.
Given today’s terrible weather, the safety index for the convoy traveling through Starry Ravine isn’t much better than taking the collapsed highway.
This is indeed a very dangerous and challenging task! Thinking about Margaret and all these bothersome issues, my handsome brows deeply furrowed as if etching a rugged mountain range on my forehead.
