Chapter 223: Hard-mouthed

[Donald’s POV]

"So, you want everything back under your control again, am I right?"

I asked Angel directly, looking into her eyes. If it were in the past, I might have left her some dignity, but seeing her stubborn and unrepentant manner, I abandoned that thought.

The depth of Angel’s resentment toward Margaret was too great. I couldn’t let her continue this way; I had to find a way to control her.

"I don’t want to hear your nonsense anymore, but if you surrender willingly, I might consider leniency in your trial as long as you cooperate fully with us in all actions against MASTER."

I thought my last two sentences might have stirred something in Angel’s heart. Her expression changed briefly, then she replied with forced toughness, "Donald, do you think I’m still the girl who would trust you wholeheartedly? You’re wrong!"

"Not to mention Margaret has poisoned me against her, she will never let me go. Even if I do what you say, collaborate with you in tracking down and encircling MASTER, would you really be lenient with me?"

"Impossible! The Royal Family’s punishment for Lycan deserters is extremely severe and cruel. The elders won’t listen to you entirely, so I never had any way out from the start. Don’t think you can deceive me again!"

"I can’t turn back now..."

"Then who do you think caused you to become what you are today? Is it the assault team? His Majesty? Elliot?" Christian, who had been silent all along, suddenly interrupted Angel with an indignant and agitated tone.

He sadly and helplessly lowered his head as he continued, "In the end, it’s nothing but your own greed at play. Why do you still shamelessly blame others? You say Miss Margaret hates you, but that’s because you did many outrageous things to her. You brought this upon yourself!"

Angel turned her gaze from me to Christian, and a dark light gleamed in her eyes.

Seeing this, Christian was unfazed; he calmed down and then continued, "Fine! I’ll not talk about your grudges with Miss Margaret right now. I only want to ask you one thing, did Elliot ever try to persuade you to give up cooperating with MASTER that day?"

"He is your cousin who has cared for you since childhood, the kindest person to you in the assault squad. And what happened? Do you realize how deeply you’ve hurt him? He’s nearly dead! You really don’t deserve to be his sister."

At the mention of Elliot, the fierceness in Angel’s expression seemed to dissolve a bit. I guessed that deep down, she still cared about Elliot.

"Ha! So what? He was stubborn that day, wouldn’t listen to anything I said. His martial skills aren’t great, he couldn’t beat me, so he got hurt by his own fault. He shouldn’t have run away on his own, after all, with me there, MASTER’s people wouldn’t really mistreat him."

Angel remained silent for a while and then stubbornly refused to repent.

I actually hoped that her argument would convince her own self, and it would be best if she kept her defiance.

"There’s nothing to discuss with you about betraying your own for selfish desires. Elliot would never condone such actions. Since you remain unrepentant, don’t blame us for being unkind to you."

With that, I signaled Christian and Mark with a gesture that it was no longer worthwhile talking to Angel; it was crucial to take action and capture her now.

Of course, they quickly understood my intent, and without another word, they pounced on her directly.

I stood not far off, squinting as I watched the battle where one faced ten, still pondering why certain individuals who should have appeared by now hadn’t appeared yet; they were truly masters at biding their time.

Angel, once a commander of the assault team, was highly skilled. Even though she had sustained a significant injury in her leg by this time, she still managed to struggle against these Lycans for a long time with all her strength.

After about 3 minutes had passed, Angel began to weaken from the relentless assaults organized by Christian, and just as she was about to fall powerless, a sudden, awkward shift happened in the battle.

The person I had been waiting for since earlier finally showed up!

"Angel! Are you alright? Can you still stand? Come over to us quickly!"

A few black-clad Lycans suddenly emerged from the forest, immediately creating a standoff with Christian’s group, which didn’t surprise me.

Angel wasn’t the only one who had deserted; she had her supporters, including Chris and his group who had also betrayed the Wolf royal family.

I had previously encountered this Chris in the assault team; he was one of Angel’s confidants.
