Chapter 208: Raiders

[Donald’s POV]

Could it be Margaret? The thought excited me a bit!

But I still hadn’t received any information from Elliot; could they have been stopped? Did they manage to find Margaret? And where was the ill-intentioned Angel?

My mind was filled with questions, but no one could provide the answers. I commanded the Lycans at my side to continue advancing, our pace quickening more and more.

Perhaps realizing I knew their intent, their sneak attacks from behind grew fiercer and more careless.

As we ran, I discreetly signaled to Mark with my eyes, and he quickly understood my intent, leading several Lycans swiftly towards a werewolf in the trees!

The enemy realized they were exposed too late.

I looked at the werewolf pinned under Mark’s claw, my face cold, and spoke lightly, "Tell me where Angel is, or I’ll kill you right now."

A flicker of confusion crossed his wolfish eyes; I didn’t miss it. He was puzzled whether I knew about Angel’s actions, and perhaps perplexed as to why I didn’t directly ask him about Margaret’s whereabouts.

"I know nothing. But I believe my master won’t abandon me. Donald, laughable Lycan King, your rule won’t last long. Light will soon shine upon the earth, and we shall emerge victorious!"

Mark’s claws seemed poised to crush his skull, yet he kept spouting some neurotic ramblings as if someone had eroded his thoughts, which were both alarming and dumbfounding.

"Forget it, take him back to Benjamin. I think we might have some different gains."

No sooner had I spoken and turned to leave than the man abruptly burst forth with immense strength, breaking free from Mark’s bonds and charged straight at me!

I naturally wouldn’t fear the attack of a pathetic werewolf, but their despicable behavior was truly difficult to guard against.

As the werewolf lunged, claws outstretched towards me, many shadows suddenly sprang from the woods. They didn’t come straight at us to meet their death but threw a lot of bizarre powders our way.

I knew my enemies were adept at concocting strange potions. I immediately widened my eyes and shouted, "Everyone, retreat! Hold your breath! Don’t inhale this powder!"

But to my surprise, the powder didn’t work by entering the respiratory tract. Our exposed skin in human form became the starting point of its erosion, I watched as Lycans collapsed thunderously, quickly shifted, and charged forward, overturning several werewolves with a swipe.

"Shift quickly! This drug is absorbed through the skin!" I roared while attacking, scattering several of the enemy’s ambushes in an instant.

"Really? Is the Lycan King that naive too?" The enemy’s small leader, realizing something was amiss, sprinted away, not forgetting to turn back and loudly mock me.

Hearing this, I quickly sensed something wrong. My strength was rapidly draining while attacking, which was utterly baffling. I stopped in my tracks and watched as the small leader quickly fled into the woods.

Mark stopped behind me, weakened and shifted back into human form, and soon collapsed on the ground. I turned back and growled at everyone, "Leave this place first, follow me."

Having said this, I bit into the fabric of Mark’s clothing and led the group out of the area filled with strange powder in the air.

Five minutes later, I dropped the unconscious Mark and stood in human form at the same spot. The Lycans behind me followed suit, setting down the comrades who had just been unlucky and sat down in human form on the ground.

I had also lost a lot of strength, and my face must have looked pale, but I knew I couldn’t just sit down; I was the pillar of mental strength for these Lycan soldiers, I couldn’t fall yet!

"Rest here for five minutes before we set out again," I commanded in a deep voice.

With that order, everyone could finally sit down with ease. I looked at the slightly disheveled team, my inner rage intensifying. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

I had been led by the nose by the enemy behind the scenes! At that thought, a shadow passed through my grey-green eyes, and my aversion to this group deepened.

<Your Majesty, this is Elliot. Are you there?>

It was Elliot’s mind-link. I got excited, and before I could ask for news about Margaret, that voice I had long missed and was so familiar with came through the next second!

<Donald?>

<Margaret?!> I exclaimed in surprise. If I only knew their exact location, I would want to fly straight there and lock her tight in my arms, never letting her leave me.

She kept calling my name, and I suppressed my excitement and continued, <Margaret! Where are you? How are you? Are Elliot and the others next to you, I’m coming right...>
