Chapter 209: Mind-link Blocked Again

[Donald’s POV]

I hadn’t even finished speaking when the mind-link with Margaret seemed to be blocked by something again. The situation these past few days has really been haunted!

I let out a low growl and signaled the Lycans around me to rise and continue moving. I couldn’t stand this torment any longer, my frantic yearning for Margaret was driving me mad, I needed to see her immediately, to confirm her safety with my own eyes.

Before, I hadn’t thought this forest was so vast, but now it seemed as though it had no end.

I charged after Elliot’s scent, and after about 15 minutes, the figures of Eric and Anthony suddenly appeared in the woods before me!

Perplexed, I stopped and called out, "Where are the others? Why have you two suddenly shown up here?"

Eric looked equally surprised to see me. He quickly glanced at Anthony beside him before hurriedly replying, "Your Majesty, we found Miss Margaret and Armstrong’s luna Elizabeth in the forest not far from here!"

"They said they escaped from that forest cabin on their own, but I felt that things couldn’t be that simple, so I went to investigate."

"Anthony and I found traces of the enemy in the cabin and chased after them; we never expected to encounter Your Majesty here. Are you alright? How is the battle ahead?"

I frowned at Eric and Anthony, not immediately answering his question, "You said it yourself, it’s not that simple, so why did you leave them and chase out? With only Elliot, can he ensure the safety of both of them?"

"No, Your Majesty, we left all the Lycans to protect them; there was no one else in the cabin, they are safe!" Eric explained anxiously, while Anthony at his side didn’t speak up.

I glanced at the two of them and didn’t waste more time arguing. The most important thing now was to reunite with Margaret.

"Safe in the cabin, but what about in the forest?"

Leaving that rhetorical question behind, I turned and ran in the direction from which they had come.

<Donald, I need help. We’re here by the cabin, can you come to help us?>

That was Margaret calling for help; they were in danger again!

This message made my heart skip a beat, and I immediately responded, <Hang tight, Margaret, I’m on my way!>

But the mind-link seemed to fail again at that moment, as my reply to Margaret was blocked as if by a door. I didn’t want to imagine how anxious Margaret would be not hearing my response, so I ran even faster to the very front of the group.

I kept trying to contact Margaret, but still, there was no reply. I mind-linked Elliot in my heart, still no response.

"Eric! You try to reach Elliot, tell him to protect Margaret and Elizabeth, we are on our way! Anthony, you try contacting Elizabeth too, tell them to stay put in the cabin!" I commanded loudly to Eric and Anthony behind me, hoping it was just me who couldn’t reach them.

"Your Majesty! I can’t reach them either!"

Eric’s reply caused my heart to sink. It seemed that the situation was indeed deteriorating, "Hurry! They must be in trouble."

Saying this, I ran even faster, my figure becoming a silver streak in the forest.

I was exhausted too, but I knew stopping was not an option. My mate was waiting for me to rescue her; I couldn’t let her be alone there!

As we got closer to the cabin, warnings from Eric and Anthony reached me from behind—it was Elizabeth!

"Bring her along, I’ll go ahead and meet with Margaret!"

"Lycan King! Go save Margaret, she’s in great danger!"

Both Elizabeth and I spoke so quickly our words collided. Seeing the urgency on her face, I hesitated no longer and turned to run off.

<Margaret?>

<Where are you? Are you okay?>

I suppressed the fear in my heart, desperate to get a response from Margaret.

Maybe the Moon goddess took pity on my anxious state, or perhaps I was getting closer to Margaret, but miraculously, I received her response!

<I... I’m in battle.>

Upon hearing Margaret’s voice, I felt a surge of relief and quickly asked, <Who are you fighting? Angel?!> 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

<Yes.>

With her affirmative answer, I felt no sense of relief. I realized that Margaret’s situation was extremely critical!

And then the tension weighing on my heart became palpable, I could even see her locked tightly in battle with Angel. Could this be the "Being There" mentioned in the books?

I didn’t have time to marvel at the rarity of this occurrence because Margaret was quickly running out of strength. She couldn’t withstand even a fraction more of Angel’s resistance!

My mate needed me at this moment.

This thought shattered all my wishful thinking and I finally realized I truly couldn’t get there in time!
