A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 433: Tour
Chapter 433: Tour
Thanks to the giant fish that Elaina caught, the night’s dishes are all related to fish dishes. But no one complained about it as the fish is delicious to the point that during lunch time, the kids started fighting just so they could get the final serving of the soup and the baked fish that Elaina prepared, which ended up in Adelaide’s favor after she won. Although Elaina can say that Adelaide has a very large advantage considering she is an experienced warrior in the past, it was still quite a large gap that she easily mopped the ground with everyone, even with their best efforts.
Seeing that the kids are sad after the result, Elaina promised to cook another batch for dinner, which is why it is now the result of that.
This time, though, the Grand Sage is among the people joining them for dinner. Although it was the first time the Grand Sage had joined the dinner, he was quite a hot topic to everyone that even the children were curious about him and had been asking questions here and there. The old man answers them with enthusiasm, and Elaina can tell that he does enjoy talking with them.
"Looks like Master has taken a liking to the kids, Sis. Considering he barely has any interaction with children during our travels, seeing him be an elder to them felt quite rewarding," Julia said with a smile on her face.
"Did the Grand Sage have no chance to talk much during your travels?" Elaina asked. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Considering how desolate most places he visits are? He barely finds any sort of civilization in those places. It would be lucky enough if there were a town or a small settlement nearby, but most of the time, there is none at all, and he would be on his lonesome. When I arrived, he finally gained a companion, but I only accompanied Master on a few instances until his final settlement here."
"I heard many tales regarding the Grand Sage, but are all of those things true? Like how he can destroy a village in a single snap of his fingers? Or how he can easily manipulate hundreds of things without trouble?"
Before Julia could answer, the old man chuckled and answered the question himself. "I have not tried destroying a village in a single snap of my fingers, but if I wanted to, I could actually do that. However, I have no reason to do so, and I don’t want to use my magic by killing bystanders who have no reason to die."
"So, most of the rumors are just pure exaggeration? Nothing was confirmed?" Elaina asked.
"Haha, rumors are just rumors, and most rumors come from the real truth that got twisted by passing through several mouths. You can say those rumors have a mix of both the truth and lies. It’s better to see it for yourself rather than to believe rumors that are hard to believe, yes?"
"Well, I do agree with that. Rumors are hard to believe until it is seen and recorded," Elaina nodded in agreement.
"Still, even though you are a farmer, I never thought that you would be a good cook! Even though Julia’s cooking was the only food that I considered good back then, I didn’t expect your cooking would top that off!" The old man praised Elaina’s cooking.
"Told you, Master. My Sis might be a farmer, but she is also a great cook and can do anything as long as it doesn’t involve magic. She is the best in almost everything!"
Elaina felt proud hearing that. Hearing it from someone like the Grand Sage is already an honor for her.
The dinner soon ended and was soon followed by the invitation of the Grand Sage to his tower that he had just built a few hours ago. She had seen it form, but she didn’t see how it was actually made as she was busy with her work on the fish. But seeing the structure appear before her, Elaina believes that even without a worker to help him, he can still build anything as long as he knows what he is building with. Of course, he is not just blindly praising the Grand Sage; the work of the regular carpenters and builders is still solid, but seeing a tower appear in just a single day with only one person working on it is enough to say that he isn’t an ordinary old mage.
As they stand at the base of the tower, Elaina and the rest stare at the towering home of the Grand Mage. It was quite tall to the point that it is not easy for everyone to see the top easily. And the fact that it does look old even though the tower was just made that day made the impression of the tower looked like it was plucked out from somewhere and relocated it to the farm in one single plop.
"What are you young’uns waiting for? Let’s all get inside. After all, you lot will be welcome here in the future. Feel free to come and go if you please."
The Grand Mage opens the door to the tower. Before the adults enter, Arthur and Raye, who are already curious inside, didn’t bother to wait for their mother’s confirmation to enter the tower and just run off inside.
"We will go on ahead, Mom, everyone!" Arthur shouted, followed by Raye grinning as they entered the door.
"Hey, wait up!" Layla immediately followed the two.
"H-hey! Don’t rush off so fast!" Adelaide tried to stop the kids, but they entered the place before she could move to stop them.
Elaina didn’t bother to hesitate anymore, the moment she saw her two boys go inside. "Alright, let’s get inside."
Entering the door, she felt a heavy pressure on her body when she entered but it disappeared quickly. It was like she passed on to some sort of transparent barrier, and she was stuck on it for a bit before her eyes soon got used to the bright light. With the bright light gone, Elaina can finally observe the surroundings.
Compared to the outside, the space inside the tower is quite...spacious to the point that the space inside the farmhouse can be considered pretty "tight and cramped" in comparison to the space inside the tower. And even though the place has already been adorned with various shelves and decorations, the place is still too spacious that Elaina had to rub her eyes a few times to ensure that she wasn’t seeing things wrong.
"Wow! As expected of Master! The place is spacious! As much as I want to create this much space in my pocket dimension, I couldn’t expand it with the amount of mana I had. Seeing this much space makes me a bit jealous of Master’s mana reserves..." Julia sighed.
"Now, now, my disciple. I told you before, it might be small for now, but remember that it will grow much bigger than before, and your reserves of mana will grow further the more you utilize it. That is why you shouldn’t make your magic stagnate. Keep utilizing it and sooner or later, you will not realize it, but it will be enough to rival mine. You shouldn’t compare yourself to me, who has been training for hundreds of years."
Elaina now understood why the place is much bigger than she expected, it was a pocket dimension and it was placed inside the tower’s floors, and made the actual space inside the tower to be the skeletal frame to keep the pocket dimension stable inside without causing it to collapse."
"I already expected quite a bit, and I am still shocked seeing all of this. I must say that you have utilized your mana for quite some time for you to be able to create this big of a pocket dimension," Yona said without batting an eye around. She marvels at the whole place like she recognizes all the intricate details here and there in the dimension.
"Of course. Of course, yours is more impressive, ancient witch. Seeing someone who survived the era of witch hunts and remains alive until today is something I never expected, but here we are. Hearing great responses from someone whom I can consider as my predecessor and the main reason magic has been recognized today, and not called harmful, is something I would consider an honor."
Yona shook her head. "No, no. Considering how underutilized my mana is, I don’t think I am going to be able to rival you so soon. I look forward to the days you will help my understanding of modern magic soon, Grand Sage."
The Grand Sage made a respectful bow and smiled. Elaina keeps on forgetting that Yona is someone who is already old enough to be considered an ancient already but because of how young she looks and how she still retains her youthful vigor, Elaina finds it weird seeing someone older than her grandfather and grandmother make a respectful bow to someone who looks like she is the same age as Elaina.
"Magic sure is weird..."
