Chapter 429: The Crimson Fish

In the realm of the gods, the weather is especially quite nice for fishing right now, so the God of Fishing is once again casting his line to the water and is waiting to snag a fish. Although he was doing this all throughout his life, he never felt bored in the slightest about it. He continues to fish, and that is fine. After all, he found peace and tranquility with the rod being cast and waiting for a fish to bite. It might not be something that many people understand, but those who do are fine with it.

As he continue to wait patiently on his next bite, he suddenly fell off his chair and his senses tingle. Something unexpected among his blessed individuals have snagged something that even he, has yet to catch. A fish he has yet to see and a fish that wasn’t supposed to be caught easily.

Sensing this, he quickly started scanning every person he gave his blessings to see what they were doing and what he just sensed. As he scoured through those people, he immediately realized it wasn’t those people he had directly given blessings to that managed to trigger that feeling. It was someone who did receive his blessings, but not directly and through a proxy. And there is only one person who currently matches that description.

He quickly pull out his fishing rod from the water which quickly turned to bubbles and disappeared before the God of Fishing rushes towards the domain of the God of Farming.

When he arrives there, his mouth is wide open in shock as he witnesses something he didn’t expect to see in his surveillance over Elaina. He even didn’t notice the God of Fishing comes inside his domain due to his shock. The God of Fishing also looked over at the surveillance to see what was going on and before him was the scene that he didn’t expect to actually witness.

"M-MY WORD! WHAT A HUGE FISH!"

...

...

...

While the two gods are shocked, Elaina has already recovered from shock and quickly pulls the giant fish away from the water. The fish is so huge that it was even a huge shock that she fished that fish out of the stream. However, a catch is a catch, and considering it is still flopping and is ready to resist, Elaina’s first reaction is to make sure to stop the fish from ever reaching the stream’s water once more. Using the fishing rod’s hook that is currently snagged on the fish’s mouth, Elaina forcefully drags the huge monster out of the water.

Once the fish was far from the water, Elaina quickly tried to knock the fish dead by bashing it with her sword’s scabbard. But the crimson fish is not yet ready to kick the bucket just yet. Before Elaina’s attack lands, the fish flops around the ground violently and leaps high from the ground in an attempt to escape, immediately missing her attack.

Yona, who is currently nearby and just came back after studying the bees, was startled the moment she saw Elaina battling a huge fish.

"Miss Elaina!"

On the other hand, Julia and Princess Margaux just finished chatting when they heard the ruckus. Even the children who are currently playing upstairs in the farmhouse heard the chaos ensuing outside and quickly peered outside the window. As soon as they peer out of their window, the scene of a huge fish and one woman fighting one another is something that they would not expect to see at all.

Then, on the window where Elaina’s room was currently located, was the Harvest Goddess cheering on Elaina’s battle.

"WOOO! GO! GO! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!" the Harvest Goddess is completely immersed and engaged on the ongoing battle that she started waving the pillow that Elaina uses to show her "support" to Elaina.

As for Elaina, she couldn’t even stop as the fish would not be stopping without a fight and without returning to the water. And so, the battle of attrition began between the two. Elaina is keeping the fish away from the water, and the fish continues to drag itself on the ground and return to the water while also fending off the attack of the one who fished it out of the water.

Despite the fish being out of the water for quite a while already, it hasn’t run out of air to breathe just yet. It might be a big fish, but it is not like the other big fishes that quickly dies the moment they are out of the water. For this big fish, it can survive for quite some time and still exert quite a pack of power to fight back and push Elaina to some extent.

Although annoyed, Elaina didn’t want to use her sword and cut it down to pieces like she usually does to a monster. Compared to monsters, fish have some kind of varying differences, and since Elaina wanted to catch and cook the fish, she wanted to preserve the fish in its whole fresh body rather than having it in pieces and ruining the fish as a result. The only problem is that the fish itself is the problem and the one making the situation a lot harder than it should be.

As the struggle of the two went on, the fish is slowly winning. Although Elaina is constantly trying to drag the fish away from the stream, its leaps are quite large in gap, allowing it to cross large strides and close the gap of land and water quickly. Elaina tried again and again to keep it out of the water but since she can’t keep it stay on the land and try to kill it, the fish is now almost at the edge.

The fish took one final leap and it seems that the fish is about to escape and return to the water, never to be seen again when...

SHAAAA!

Water encased the whole fish and it remained floating in the air. Before it can move inside the bubble of water, the water slowly solidifies and before the fish can break free, the water inside the bubble freezes completely, encasing the crimson fish and keeping it intact and away from the stream’s water.

Elaina turned to look behind her and saw both Yona and Julia.

"Looks like we just caught it just in time before it escapes," Yona smiled as she flicked off the water on her hands after casting the water magic.

"Yes indeed. And thanks to the water you conjured, we also finished it off before it could struggle free," Julia nodded in agreement.

"Thanks girls. That was intense and I never expected the fish to be that relentless on returning to land even though I am actively trying to kill it which sadly I did not get to do."

"If we didn’t use magic, even we would struggle against that fish too, Sis. Don’t worry too much about it."

Yona controlled the floating frozen bubble to let it descend slowly to the ground. Now that the fish is dead, everyone gathered together including the kids who couldn’t go out in fear they might get dragged in trouble due to it and examined the big fish.

Elaina wipes off her sweat when the God of Fishing contacts her.

"[I didn’t expect for you to be the one who will be capable of catching and subduing one of the legendary fish known as the Bloodsoaked Giant Carp!]"

"Legendary?"

"[Yes, legendary. Fishes that were always considered by many as just tall tales that are meant to be just for bragging or for scaring other people in the process. And this fish that I just classified as Bloodsoaked Giant Carp is one of those legendary fishes.]"
