A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 428: A Nice Day for Fishing [II]
Chapter 428: A Nice Day for Fishing [II]
Alessa is currently humming as she cleans the abode of the lazy goddess, Harvest Goddess. As much as she scolds the Harvest Goddess for being lazy, she still appreciates that the Harvest Goddess does what her job entails, even though she prefers not to do it if possible.
Thanks to the Harvest Goddess, she has a place to live with her daughter even after the fall of the Merfolk kingdom. Getting updates from her husband is enough to say that she is fortunate that she wasn’t present there when things went down. The Merfolk Kingdom has yet to recover after the fall of the Elders, and her Father went into hiding after the failed attempt to recover her from the Human Lands. She didn’t regret leaving the place. Considering that things have been more troublesome than before. If she hadn’t been pushed to sacrifice her daughter in the first place, perhaps she would not be living her current life right now, but still trapped in a place where she isn’t valued.
While she continues to clean the abode and arrange the mess that both the Harvest Goddess and her daughter have made, a sudden tremor shakes the abode, causing a few items on the shelves to fall off. It was quite strong, but Alessa could tell it didn’t come from an earthquake or anything like that. It didn’t come from the ground, and even if it is, it shouldn’t be capable of shaking the Harvest Goddess’s abode like it has been shaken. At best, she can feel a bit of vibration, but considering that the abode is underwater, it is less impactful compared to land.
But that tremor just now is a lot stronger, and she is worried about what is happening as if it had never happened before. And before she could finally sigh in relief, another set of tremors once again shook the surroundings and caused her to wobble in her position.
BANG! BANG!
Loud sounds can be heard outside, and a huge shadow looms outside the place. It was so big that the surroundings darkened as soon as the shadow passed by. Although she knew that she was safe in the abode of the Harvest Goddess, whatever that thing that causes the sounds and tremors is one huge creature. And as much as she wanted to leave, she decided that it was better to remain holed up in the abode and keep herself safe than to go out and risk herself.
"How come a big creature like that is here on the stream?" she questioned herself.
The creature’s shadow is big, and considering the size alone, it is questionable how it was able to fit in the stream with its size without getting noticed at all by Elaina, who always fishes in that place. Now that she has seen that creature, she just needed to wait for the Harvest Goddess to return and ask her what kind of creature that huge fella currently doing on the stream and how come she is only seeing it right now over the past few years.

Elaina’s eyes went wide when she got another bite and another fish. It’s a medium-sized fish again. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"Strange...I know that it has been a while since my last fishing session, but I am quite sure that this is not how fast I catch fish back then. I could wait for a whole day, and my pail won’t be overflowing with fish like this."
Glancing at her pail where she put all the fishes and seeing it almost ready to overflow with medium sized fishes, she felt compelled to stop but considering that she is fishing quite a lot and all of them are medium sized, she felt the need to continue and see how long before the fishes stops biting.
Casting her line, she would usually just lean on her chair and wait until the fishing pole started to tug, but this time, she didn’t and decided to check on the water to see what was going on underneath.
As she peers through the water, Elaina immediately spots one anomaly under the water. It was only a split second that she had seen that, but she couldn’t be wrong. Something big is currently swimming underwater.
Sensing that there is indeed a big presence currently swimming nicely, Elaina is quite sure that she needs to take caution. Grabbing her sword that is currently resting on the side of the tree, she continues to observe the water and wait for any movement that will raise her alarm. She can’t afford to just let herself stay lax while a big creature is swimming underwater.
"What was that? Is that a fish? There’s no way a fish can actually fit here on the stream, and the stream isn’t that deep either."
The water on the stream is shoulder deep for Elaina, but it isn’t that deep considering that Elaina is not too tall. For tall people, it would be around the abdomen area to the chest area at best, but seeing the creature swimming just now made her doubt if the stream was not that shallow. It was just that the area around the place where the domain of the Harvest Goddess is just not that shallow, but the rest of the area is no longer that shallow.
As she was busy trying to comprehend the depth of the water and the creature’s size, the fishing rod started to tug violently. Quickly sensing that the one snag on the line is something big, Elaina gripped the fishing rod hard and root both her feet to the ground as much as she can and started pulling over at the fishing rod as much as she can.
The pull is much stronger than any fish that Elaina has snagged before. Sure, she has snagged a few fish that can be hard to pull, but she didn’t struggle much after applying enough force to equal and best the fish. This time, Elaina can tell that her normal strategy won’t work. The fish is not an ordinary fish to begin with, and she needed to give it her all if she wanted to snag the fish. For Elaina, it’s either she will pull the fish out of the water or the fishing rod will break, and she will fall over.
"It doesn’t matter whether this is a fish or not. Right now, this thing is my quarry! And it’s either my fishing rod or this guy will give up on this!"
Tightening her grip, Elaina increases the force she is exerting to pull the fishing rod and drag the creature out of the water. It is even a miracle that the fishing line has not snapped yet while two individuals are currently doing a tug of war.
Huffing in a mouthful of air, Elaina exerted a bit more force and in one, single, strong pull, she pulled the fishing rod with all her might, causing the opponent on the other line to be dragged out of the water, revealing its face.
A giant crimson fish. One that can swallow a human whole, in one single bite.
