A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 404: Work During War [V]
Chapter 404: Work During War [V]
The boss of the second strata was a Mummy King. Unlike the Iron Golems guarding it, the Mummy King is using mental manipulation and something related to mana dispersal, making mana useless most of the time. It would be dangerous and totally disastrous if the one fighting it was someone who uses magic. But for someone who barely have any mana in their body and is seemingly immune to mental attacks due to the same reason above, the Mummy King is not even a threat to Elaina.
Because it is more focused on using those attacks to incapacitate anyone, when against someone who is immune to all, in short, the boss was just nothing for Elaina and she easily killed it before it has even a chance to fight back.
"Haaah...that was a quick work but I am feeling tired already," Elaina said to herself as she activates the teleportation circle which will allow her to teleport directly in here if she wanted to.
The loot is also quite strange which makes her a bit disappointed. When the boss died, it dropped a singular item that turns out to be a roll of bandage. She frowned as to why the boss would drop a bandage and because she doesn’t have any magic spell that allows her identify what this bandage is, whether it was trash or not, she has to stash it before it will be used.
"I shouldn’t be tired at all considering I barely fought much and yet I feel so drained."
As much as Elaina wanted to push herself and continue to the next strata, she decided to stop there for the day. And besides, now that a boss was defeated, the Labyrinth barrier is strengthened once more and she will not worry about any monsters moving out anyways.
Using the teleportation circle, she returned to the surface to relax.
...
...
...
As soon as she returned, she slumped herself to the side and sighed. Strangely enough, the moment she returned to the surface, her energy that seemed to have been draining since earlier returned and all of her lost energy seems to be charging back.
"That’s weird. Did the boss have that energy drain gimmick as well and I never realized it?" Elaina scratch her head as she started stretching. The fatigue that seems to be forming in her body earlier disappeared immediately which is a bit weird.
Feeling energetic, Elaina glance at the entrance of the Labyrinth. Although she is now back feeling ready to go again, Elaina decided to stop doing so. If what happened earlier prompted her to return to the surface then perhaps that is enough reason for her to stop for the time being.
"[You returned quickly, Elaina. Did you got injured or anything?]" the God of Farming asked.
"No, not really. But I returned since I felt my energy was being drained and I thought I was just exhausted even though I didn’t fight much. I did beat the second strata boss but after doing so, I felt tired so I have to come back. Strangely enough, I regained my energy like it was nothing."
"[Perhaps it was something related to the Labyrinth itself. Perhaps you have received a debuff after defeating the boss and the moment you leave the labyrinth, that debuff will be cleansed.]"
"Maybe. But I don’t think I wanted to push more into the Labyrinth’s next strata. I wanted to go back and perhaps go fishing instead. Fighting monsters is a bit tiring to be honest."
"[Then go home early. Don’t force yourself if you are not feeling the dungeon diving parts.]"
"Perhaps after all these years, I am so used to farming that all of what I have been doing in the past have been a bit more tiring. Not gonna complain but I feel weird about it."
"[I think it is more of something that your body seems to have "forgotten" to do. If you wanted to feel the groove again, I think heading to the labyrinth and fighting there would solve your problem sooner or later.]"
Elaina shrugs as she surveys the crops of the Dungeon farm if there are anything bad at the moment. Seeing everything is always in pristine condition like always, she smiled content with what she is seeing and left.
"Time to go home, I guess."
...
...
...
Even on the way to the farm, the explosions can be seen from where Elaina is standing and she can even feel the tremors being made by the explosions. She often stops to look at the explosions from time to time as she felt afraid that those cannonballs would start raining to her location all of a sudden.
"Foolish sister. You really wanted to ally yourself with those priests bastards just so you can take your revenge of me? I don’t even know why she is so angry at me when I didn’t even have anything that would lead her to be angry to me like this."
"[Don’t think too much of it. Remember that your husband has been brainwashed before. Your sister might also be brainwashed as well which is why she is acting like this.]"
"Very likely, but I don’t think my sister is so different from her usual behavior back then. I didn’t even suspect Alfred when he was brainwashed, my sister might be as well. In short, even if they are brainwashed, their mindset and their train of thoughts remain the same. It’s just that the brainwashing amplifies it and perhaps twist it which resulted into the current situation right now."
"[Well, now it doesn’t matter much. With her attacking, sooner or later, things will continue to go downhill from here, we should continue to prepare and have the farm ready in case the situation gets worse.]
As she continue conversing with the God of Farming, she finally arrived the farm where she saw a new building next to Yona’s house currently standing. Elaina does not remember any new buildings being made by Jacob at the moment so it is impossible that it was done by him.
Approaching the new building, she can hear the voices of several people inside and it seems they are examining the interior at the moment. Elaina can easily recognize them and immediately opens the door, revealing the situation inside the new building.
"Everyone? What is happening?" Elaina asked, prompting the others to take notice of Elaina’s arrival.
"Ah, Mom! You are back early! Are you done?" Arthur asked.
"Yeah. I am back. So care to explain what is happening?" Elaina looked at his children and then looked at Yona who was just approaching.
"I just finished the little project you and Curaj have been doing not too long ago. I planned on just helping out a bit but I ended up finishing the whole thing. And so, here we are. The Slime Hutch is complete."
Elaina observed the surroundings and was surprised by the quality of the work. "This is impressive work, Yona. How did you make this interior to look like it was from a swamp and a cave?"
"Ah, although I did finish this, I didn’t make this interior," Yona scratches her head before explaining the entire process to Elaina while making sure she made the explanation a bit simpler to understand.
"In short, you have no idea how it happened?"
"Yes. I didn’t see the entire process but perhaps because of the slime ball, the interior changed this much. Perhaps there was some explanation about it but I don’t think I will know it until the maker of the blueprint explains it."
"Fair enough. So, does that mean the slimes are now ready to live here?" Elaina asked as she observed the group of slimes that seems to be playing in their new environment.
"Yes. And I think they will soon begin their production of their products that we can use. You are free to take and harvest them if they are present. You can even add more slimes if you tamed a few on the way. Considering the space present inside the building, the place would be spacious if it only houses my slimes," Yona explained.
"Thanks for that, Yona. But now with this slime hutch, your workload will increase more," Elaina is worried that the witch will overwork herself.
"Hahaha, don’t worry, Miss Elaina. Considering how long I have been doing this, work is nothing new to me. And besides, I enjoy doing this work so additional new monsters for me to study would be a good idea. So if you have new slimes to add here, go ahead and I won’t even be objecting."
"Thanks, Yona."
And with that, the slime hutch is now ready to be used.
...
...
...
In the distance, a woman clad in a cloak that hid both her body and face stood in the highest point not too far from the battle that is happening on the shore. One would say that the place that she is standing in is the perfect vantage point to look at the current spectacle of cannons and magic being fired by both sides.
A young man walked next to her, also observing the war below.
"So your main purpose to begin was in preparation for this, huh? Color me surprised," the young man said, grinning.
"Indeed. After all, I have a family to come back into. Now that I have become strong enough and gained my own position, there’s no need for them to feel threatened by this current war. My presence alone will be enough to deter anything that tries to harm my family."
She slowly removed her cloak off, revealing that the woman observing the war is none other than Julia.
"After all these years, I am back, Sis."
