A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 401: Work During War [II]
Chapter 401: Work During War [II]
As the Hencluckles began to start their morning crows, Elaina was already preparing. Wearing her most comfortable clothes and packing all of her essentials in her bag, she is preparing for the raid to the Labyrinth. She will have to descend to the second Strata and progress. And since it’s been a while since she cleared the first strata, she will have to face the boss there again. Of course, since she has already cleared the first floor, she is not too worried. She will also have to check on the hallway towards the boss’s room if the soil is filled again. If possible, she will have to plunder them again and use them for herself considering the last time she did, the soil ended up becoming a good soil to grow medicinal herbs.
"Are you sure you will go there this early in the morning?" Adelaide asked as she brewed coffee.
"Yeah. With how the Labyrinth being too large to explore and finish, the sooner I am done with the second strata, the better. Getting to the checkpoint in there will be beneficial for me if I go back there again."
"Is it true that the Labyrinth is a much more difficult version of a dungeon?" Arthur asked. freeweɓnøvel~com
"Yes. Much bigger as well. Consider a dungeon’s 3 whole floors into one, that is the first floor’s strata’s size when I explored it last time."
"Seriously Mom? That big?!" Raye’s eyes went wide hearing it.
"Yes. Of course, considering the way the labyrinth goes, things change every single time you enter it, the only thing unchanged would be the boss room which will remain constant. The rest can change and perhaps when I entered, I just ended up exploring a massive strata variety instead of a regular one. It all depends on how the generation of the labyrinth floors work."
"Mom, once I get to become strong enough, I will be accompanying you to clear that place and regularly explore that place to bring back treasures for us. If it can help Mother in farming, I will do my best to be a good fighter."
"Me too, Mother. After obtaining a bit of power, I wanted to utilize it for myself and fight monsters using it," Raye said, mentioning the last power he used. He had been practicing it lately so that he could get the benefits of the ability without transforming into his regular Devil Form.
Elaina rubbed both of their heads and smiled. "I believe in you two. But don’t rush yourself. Getting stronger isn’t race. It is a perseverance of lasts long. Getting strong fast would only result in getting weaker fast and letting go of the important things. Remember, it’s alright to take it slow, after all, a rushed product will not last as long as a carefully crafted one. That holds true to people as well."
The two nodded with enthusiasm that even Adelaide had a little chuckle in her mouth. Instead of bantering with Arthur as they usually do, she decided to keep silent this time and let the two continue their determination.
"Here’s your coffee, Mom. Freshly brewed from the coffee that was sent to you."
Elaina sniffed the aroma of the coffee and she nodded in satisfaction. Compared to the usual coffee brands she buys in the market, this one in particular smells great and doesn’t smell quite strong compared to the others. Even those people who don’t like coffee might get intrigued and have a chance to check it out in the end.
"Mm, this is perfect indeed. Once we get to harvest our own coffee as well, there’s no need for us to worry about where to get more coffee grounds."
"Is it really that good, Mom? I tasted coffee once and it tasted horrible," Arthur shook his head.
"It’s an acquired taste, Brother. And don’t force yourself if you don’t like it. People who have been doing overtime work or just want to feel warm in the morning like coffee. But not all people are like that. Perhaps you are one of them Brother," Adelaide said while also sipping her coffee.
"You already drink coffee, Ade?!" Arthur was surprised.
"I do. Like I said, it was an acquired taste. As for me, I like the taste myself even if it is a bit bitter but with a few scoops of sugar this bitter cup of joe will just easily be good to drink."
"You sounded like you are quite an expert about coffee when it should be your first time drinking one."
Adelaide’s eyes went wide and almost spit out her coffee. She just realized what was happening and has almost given herself away. In the past life, she drank coffee so she is quite used to its taste already. However, technically, in this current life, this is the first time she has drunk actual coffee. Most of the drinks she drinks most of the time are milk. She forgot she wasn’t supposed to be quite an ’expert’ in coffee when she had just "started" drinking coffee just now.
Elaina realized it and quickly back Adelaide about it. "She has been sipping from time to time with me whenever I brew coffee a few times. Perhaps she loved it and now that she can brew one herself, she is drinking it so it’s not technically her first time, Son."
Arthur shook his head. "Ah, it doesn’t matter. The taste is awful so I wouldn’t bother with it."
Elaina finished her cup and put it down on the table. She huffed for a bit and smiled.
"Alright, warmed up enough, I am ready to head out."
"Be careful out there, Mom!" Raye shouted who was just keeping himself quiet while eating some bread.
Arthur braced himself and nodded. "Alright, let’s get some breakfast and once we are done, we should begin training. Can’t afford to leave Mother doing all the hard labor!"
"Got it, Brother!" Raye enthusiastically said in approval.
"Haa, I don’t know what to do with you two, really," Adelaide shook her head before she finished her coffee as well.

The dungeon farm remains lush with the vegetables and fruits she planted before. These plants are all to keep things calm and free from monsters. And thanks to the adventurers who soon understood why a dungeon farm was being formed around the labyrinth entrance, they didn’t dare destroy the plants. But even if they did, they couldn’t do it anyway due to the defensive items she put there on the ground. If someone decides to pull something to break things, then something will definitely not be great for them.
"Just like Grandpa said, the place felt like it was abandoned. Even the guards that were guarding the labyrinth are not here. Can’t blame them when someone is going head-on with another kingdom who decides to try and raise some chaos. But thanks to this, she can freely do whatever she wants there without worrying about the watchful eyes of the others.
"Let’s get this done real quick."
Instead of heading to the main entrance of the labyrinth, she headed to the teleporter instead. She didn’t want to waste her time clearing the first strata again. According to the other adventurers, there, the teleporter is a good way to head straight to the hallway toward the strata boss. It is designed to keep adventurers from going back and forth to each strata, failing to progress further because they have to keep on clearing the first strata just so they can drag themselves towards the next strata where most adventurers will get tired easily.
Activating the teleporter, a teleport circle appeared beneath Elaina’s feet, and in a blink, she arrived at the location.
"Looks like I just arrived again without a problem."
The hallway towards the first boss remains the same...except for the growing plants on the side. Yes, the place where Elaina plundered all the soil has been refilled with brand new soil, now with some plants growing on them. The problem is that the plant is something unknown to her so she opened her almanac and checked it only to be revealed that it was a man-eating plant, growing.
"If that is the case, let’s uproot these things and plunder the rest of the soil. That would make a better use of this soil than letting monsters grow. Whoever is supplying the soil here, I will not forget you. Now, time to get these stored in the bag!"
