Chapter 399: Enemies On The Sea frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

A day after the declaration of war was released, the citizens of Darcero Kingdom has fled the kingdom with the support of the Royal Family to avoid the incoming war. With the soldiers helping them evacuate to the nearby allies of the Kingdom, they will avoid the trouble that the war might cause as a result.

The Adventurer’s Guild is also helping out with the First Prince aiding the preparation of the defenses to keep the enemies at bay. Magicians and Siege weapons are stationed on the walls that are created around the whole Darcero Kingdom’s borders by the help of Golem Magic that the magicians of the Adventurer’s Guild, the defenses are now ready.

Mortars and cannons are also ready to fire as well, waiting for the enemies that are going to arrive any day now.

The atmosphere of the Kingdom is tense but everyone is getting ready. Even some magic users and soldiers are patrolling all over the kingdom to ensure that even the enemies will not attack from above which will catch everyone off guard.

Normal work is even reduced and the market is slowed down in its operation, making only private transactions to minimize gathering of people in one place.

This ended up making the busiest place in the kingdom very quiet in a snap, but considering the situation, this is something that is natural and bound to happen.

Elaina also finished buying the most essential stuff in bulk and with the amount of stuff she bought, it should be enough for at least two years, of course it nothing happens.

"Mom, is it really not good to stay outside anymore and play with the other kids? Not even playing on the forest?" Arthur asked.

"As much as I wanted to allow you and everyone to play around outside the farm, it is not safe anymore and would be a better choice to remain here. I don’t want to get you all harmed," Elaina reasoned out.

"We can still play but only around the farm then?" Raye guessed.

"Correct. The farm will be safer and with us being here, we can also protect you all in case things are going bad. You guys better listen, especially you Arthur and Raye. When I say it is really dangerous to stay outside and play, it is the truth. Be sure to listen. Unlike the monsters on the forest where I can save you two from trouble, this will be a different thing and danger will be always present . Don’t treat it like it is just a simple warning."

Elaina glanced at Adelaide, making a silence gesture to keep an eye over at the boys which the latter understood.

"But why start a war? Why do this?" Mier asked. She has no clue what is happening at all.

Elaina shook her head. "Even I don’t know, dear. One thing I know is that they want to push their ideology to the innocent people that they are willing to start an invasion to justify their means of doing what they needed to do."

While they are talking, all of a sudden, the ground shook and loud explosions began to occur not too far from the farm. These explosions were loud enough that the boys who were looking calm earlier immediately clung to Elaina’s sleeve in fear. Even the girls as well...well, aside from Adelaide who remains unfazed.

"Looks like the enemies have finally arrived and are ready to fight now."

She silently prays to everyone that will be participating in the war.

...

...

...

On the other hand right before the explosions earlier occurred, Princess Tabatha and Princess Margaux are currently inside their tent with the First Prince currently watching the magic ball that is currently being used by Princess Margaux channelling her mana to it to view the situation on thr sea.

"I spotted them. They should be in the mortar’s range soon enough," Princess Margaux said as she used her magic to peer through distance and look at the enemy.

"They didn’t waste their time indeed. Just as they released the declaration of war yesterday, they immediately launch an attack. Pretty good strategy to catch us off guard...if we didn’t obtain the intel a few years back," The First Prince shook his head.

"I am so thankful that we received that intel quite fast. If not, many innocent people will be involved in this war. I admit that whoever planned this, they are good at executing plans," the First Princess stares at the shining crystal ball for a bit.

Then, Princess Margaux suddenly found something.

"Wait a minute! Looks like the enemy ships are coming close! One, two, three...there are 7 of them! All of them have soldiers riding on them and are armed. Some seems to be magicians but most are regular warriors! They are getting close!"

"Seven huh? This is not just spreading their stupid ideology, this is plain invasion. I don’t like that," the First Prince stood up from his seat and went out of the tent.

"To your stations soldiers and adventurers! Our enemy is now on our waters! Load the mortars, ready the cannons and magicians, get ready for the AOE Spell to bring them down!"

Hearing the command, the soldiers who are still relaxing and waiting for something to happen quickly stop what they were previously doing and rush back to theor respective positions.

The First Prince also went to the wall and headed to the sentry tower where a few of the watchmen soldiers are using a telescope to check the waters.

"I see them! 90 meters from the mortars range!" the soldier with the telescope shouted.

The First Prince gets out of the sentry room and bark another command.

"Load up the mortars and ready their ammunitions for reloading! Prepare to bombard them with ammunitions and sink them before they get close enough!"

The soldiers work as fast as they can and even the other soldiers who are not assigned in the mortars are finishing their tasks to ready themselves.

"Mortar 1 is ready to fire, Your Highness!" the soldier aiming the first mortar shouted.

The other soldiers of the other mortars also followed suit as well. All of them are just waiting for the command to fire at will. Everyone is just breathing nervously as they look into the sea where the ships are now in full view in the distance.

Then, the sentry tower’s soldier shouted once more. "They are already in the mortar’s range!"

Hearing this, the First Prince raised his hand and point straight to the waters where the ships are sailing. With a deep breath, he bellows the command.

"FIRE!"

With the command released, the mortars unleashed their capability and soon began to unleash hell towards the enemies who have yet to know the dangers of entering the zone. The sound of the mortars releasing their ammunitions sounds like huge explosions that the people who are living not too far from the sea’s borders can hear the thundering bellows of the weapons.

The citizens who are left behind are left with no choice but to pray for their safety and hopes that the war will not ravage the land where they are living and make the once peaceful kingdom they are living into a hellscape.
